i think any version of against me is good. i love when bands progress as long as they stay true to themselves and actually write their own songs.

That's what I really don't get, it clearly meant a lot to him at the time, and if his ideals developed and changed why would he completely hate his roots and where his ideals developed?I'd have no problem if Against Me! re-developed their sound and beliefs, it's the fact that they reject all of their origins that I truly can't respect.
