@Mrnutgobbler69 Ive gone off TK all together after some old purchases. I have princess sticks which I really like, but then again I get them sponsored so I dont have much say in sticks I want. But i dont really mind.... always been curious to the adidas sticks.....
@stephenramsay1 - Interesting. I'm a bit player in both (I'm not sure if I play field hockey legally...I am a lefty goalie [I can't stop anything if I have the stick in my right hand, as all 5-hole shots go in as I play an ice hockey butterfly style]) and personally, each has there own feel. I feel ice hockey is a game more built on grit and determination, stemming a lot from the physical element of the game, whereas field hockey is a more controlled, strategic game. Both are equally skilled.
@stephenramsay1 ya they're both awesome. I like ice hockey better cause I play it & I think it's more "original". However, they're both totally awesome!!! :)
what do you think.. Women hockey is the best sport you can find for the netherlands. Football is the most slowest sport i have ever seen and more than 45 minits in a game you can find them on the ground crying..
Where I'm from we play Hockey on ice with skates at full speed and full contact, a puck, and we carry bigger sticks in more ways than one. I've only ever heard that this was played by girls as they're the only ones who rarely play it over here. By the way, maybe my eyes deceive me but It looks as though they're playing with candy canes. Just don't call this "hockey" without putting in the word F-I-E-L-D to precede it.
@6JCD Why aren't I there when the little 'uns get into a fight - why do people give such shit answers!?
Here's the real reasons:
Hockey IS field hockey; one of the most ancient team games as opposed to "codified 7 ice hockey rules, based on the rules of field hockey". More importantly; a far more global game. Shame on u Can-yank wanker; just because there is far more North (read ignorant) american MONEY and violence in yr game, is it better? Are sports supposed to be the domain of idiots only?
@nelsoncards SO? Go and skate and dance on ice! Even play hockey on it if you will - why don't u play football on it instead!? Like any sport, if you have field hockey in yr blood; the others pale. Yes, skating is difficult, as hard as surfing? If you skate, you'd get used to it, like riding a bike, and so what? Field hockey is one of the fastest games and one that needs co-ordination and skills unlike most others.
do act like a childesh moron. have you ever even been on ice? i doubt it so dont talk like its easy and takes no skill. this style of field hockey is not more skillful than ice hockey. really its not.
@nelsoncards AND, one last thing, you'd never understand if you haven't played much, but Field Hockey has the aerial game, as well as the ground game; dangerous, skillful, very difficult, etc. But still, it's a gentlemans sport, and while I don't give a fuk about gentlemen - sport THAT DOESN'T PLAY THE MAN/ BODY is the best sport that exists - what are you ice-hockey "men"; a little needy for full body contact with yr pals, I'd say! :)
@6JCD I watch and play both, both are great sports. stop being a prick and trying to sound macho, I don't give a fuck where you're from, narrow minded inbred son of a bitch. and yes, they're playing with actual candy canes. yum yum.
@6JCD Just to be bitchy...field hocket started out as a men's sport. We don't wear all the padding ice hockey does. I would like to think, in many ways, this is harder. We run farther. We have the liability of getting bruised/concussed/what-have-you. Just because you think ice hockey is the *men's* sport, don't preach. I'm being hypocritical, but don't jump down my throat.
"padding"? Why do you think they wear it? Field hockey isn't physical. "run farther" i suppose that prancing on grass in shoes is more difficult than high speed skating. You mention bruises and concussions but in Hockey on ice those things are in the nature of the game as well as losing teeth frequently. I could go on for a while. I just hope you weren't trying to be clever by stating your last line in sarcasm. Just don't refer to it as hockey without field before it.
@6JCD field hockey is physical and your just an arrogant dick who only believes hockey is for girls, have you ever played it, i'd like to see you play. anyway leave people to play what sports they want to, if you've got a problem with it no one gives a shit, anyway if 'field hockey' wasn't invented by the english then the canadians wouldnt have invented you ice hockey.
@6JCD I am not stating my last line in sarcasm. I will refer to it as I please, because to me, field hockey is more important than ice hockey. Ice hockey is a game designed to show off testosterone, and little else (to my uneducated eyes). But whatever. I live and die by field hockey, so I'm biased.
lol. thats what the British keep saying when they keep losing to the allblacks. Poach this poach that lol FYI, they are kiwi born with Polynesian heritage or migrated to NZ as a youngster like myself. In that case, your football team and athletics teams were poached from the Caribbean and Africa :(
@marcellin20a Not quite! The "coloured" British players are born British - there are many Polynesian players won are not 1st generation who play for NZ. This is due to the economic climate in these small countries who move to NZ for a job & hence bolster your national teams. may I also add your schools still have the old British empire structure (sport is a "tool" ) which I believe is still the best educational system to have. You also really only have rugby, cricket & netball as sports.
I used that last point to refer how idiots from the north keep referring to the 'poach player' syndrome when they lose to the all blacks. The same form of migration wave also occurred in the Uk where a quater of a million afo-Caribbeans migrated to the Uk due to skill shortages in the 1950-1960s. The same applied in Nz when it had an open door policy to the pacific in the 1970-1990s due to skill shortages-NOT to bolster our rugby team.
Through this migration process the first generation of Polynesians rugby naturally incorporated into the game of rugby -it was their way of assimilating into nz society especially with the Maori peoples. Cricket (in summer) and netball and the most popular sports but we aren't restricted to these 3.
Having taught in NZ you also suffer from "small island syndrome" ........... rather like shorter people... feeling like they have to compete (if not better) to feel adequate....& lets face it you feel very small next to Australia who wipe the floor with you as a sporting nation
please get ur facts right before you blow in and make comparisons. You should be embarrassed on how the UK (yes the four home nations) performs in comparison to Australia, France or Germany in sport-yes they "wipe you guys off the floor". At least we can compete with Australia more than the effort Wales, Scotland, or Ireland do when competing with England.
@marcellin20a My facts are very much right - did the Olympics pass you by in 2008? I think you did judging by how little medals you won. Check the medals table - ur argument doesnt hold water
lol. your facts AREN'T right since you mentioned 'sports' NOT specifically Olympics. Let me refresh your memory. Its obvious Australia have been in the top 7-8 nations consistently...better than your one gold medal effort in 2000 isn't it? LOL
Let me refresh your memory. The allblacks clean sweep Australia in rugby 4-0 on top of the dominance of our women and 7s team, basketball ball team beat them in the test series this year to qualify no1 in our region and qualify for the for the world cup, our mens and womens hockey teams beat Australia in their series, drew with them in Netball,we drew with them in League despite beating them to become world champions in 2008,our rowing team have won more gold medals than them in the 08/09 season
and yes we won 9 medals, 3 gold, 5 bronze and a silver...our best effort being 8 gold medals...cant see the likes of wales, Scotland and Ireland coming close to that effort.
yep...not to mention the Americas cup, sailing divisions, BMX championships, Triathlon, we have a better track record in middle distance running thanks to the legends of Snell, Quax, Walker, Halberg,Dixon, Lovelock and the upcoming Willis, we drew 2-2 with them in the Chappell Hadlee Cricket Trophy in the 08/09 considering they are no. 1 in the world, their greatest horse racer Phar lap was a kiwi horse, not to mention the dominance of sunline in Oz .
and then you wake up & realise you're in En Zee........to be honest, the country is pretty boring too. Beautiful countryside, I admit that, be the rest plain boring. I suggest you travel.

Personally i think field hockey is better than ice hockey but thats just because i play it.
From what i can see both ice hockey and field hockey are immensly skillfull :)
Most field hockey players may say that ice hockey is just violence but tbh field hockey does have its injuries but just behind the refs back. :P
violence is just part of ice hockey so there isnt a point for knocking it. Same for ice hockey players calling field hockey a "girls sport".
either way there oth great games. :)
