first you condition the dog - spend every moment like this.. (CLICK)- treat, (CLICK)- treat, (CLICK)- treat, (CLICK)- treat, (CLICK)- treat, (CLICK)- treat, (CLICK)- treat, (CLICK)- treat, (CLICK)- treat, (CLICK)- treat, (CLICK)- treat, (CLICK)- treat, (CLICK)- treat, (CLICK)- treat, (CLICK)- treat, (CLICK)- treat, (CLICK)- treat, (CLICK)- treat, for about a week or until they get the message that the click MEANS treat. ie: CLICK =treat , then you click and treat them for the behaviour you want
@TheDezert Clicker method is when you tell the puppy to do a command, and you click the clicker as soon as he/she does it, and give them a treat. The click means that they did it right, and will be rewarded.
Positive reinforcement, yes, but its a little more than just that one process, The method i use is called operant conditioning, Nero is now 13mths old and can understand 300+ words and responds readily with key words used in conversation directed to him. Theres a really good video explaining the theory behind the process; just search for; k9-1 operant conditioning
