@Siinew, No doubt they are a ton of work and not the best shelter choice, which I thought I had imparted. The reason we built a lean-to is that it is a shelter that can be used to demonstrate the basic principles clearly "on video" that any shelter should have. We also plan to add to that shelter & show how it can be improved & used as more of a semi permanent shelter. Im also planning other vids to show more realistic short term options like you were talking about... But as is I agree w/you.
LOL, seriously? All that work for just a lean-to?!? Why would you do that much work for a horrible shelter choice like that? You need to trap that air space. If you end up with a storm blowing in from your open side, you may as well have not even built a shelter. Use that energy to close it off over an apex that is about 1/2 to 3/4 that high, but wide enough for two.
Thanks man! No doubt living in the wilderness can be rough if your not used to it. They don't call it "Roughing it" for nothing! lol. Thanks a bunch. Cheers JJ
Excellent work. It's important to relay to folks the necessity of maintaining your survival "Traingle" of awareness, skill sets, and fitness. Fitness seems to be an "all or none" piece of that traingle for folks. It was neglected by me for 12 years. Your presentation demonstrates the need for balance in all three disciplines and it does so effectively. Great work and hope to see you on the trail.
Thanks for showing how much work it really is! I am currently building a wikkup, it is alot of work and the thatching is a pain. Nice work!
