  • Douglas fought the best fight of his life against Tyson. He would've needed to fight the second-best fight of his life against Holyfield, and he couldn't pull it off.

  • Holyfield's awesome. One of my top 5 favorite heavyweights ever.

  • what year was this

  • Buster Douglas was a chump! His victory over Tyson 8 months earlier was a fluke only cause Tyson didn't train for the fight.

  • if only douglas had the heart and passion for boxing he would have been one of the best imo

  • SHUT THE FUCK UP ABOUT TYSON!!!

  • damm, my bad

  • Comment removed

  • Both buster douglas and evander holyfield didnt deserve to be called the undisputed heavyweight champion. They won all three titles from winning one match. Tyson went out and worked hard and won each title seperately !

  • @Razz2394 you are a liar. full stop! Holyfield was a warrior and he worked hard to earn all his accolades and he was a humble man. Tyson was an arrogant paper tiger who would not deal with patient fighters like Holyfield. face it my man, your champion failed the hard boxing tests.

  • @nxumalosic Tyson in his prime was the best! GTFOH!!

  • quitter.

  • Buster made a classic error. Made the uppercut obvious and kept his left side unprotected. Recipe for disaster.

  • After Tyson, Douglas was literally just a "one hit wonder."

  • @jdiaz619 It's a shame we didn't get to see Buster Douglas at his best against Holyfield, because the way he fought Mike Tyson was beautiful boxing..When he was snapping that jab, it was deadly..

  • @apollo792 Mike Tyson would have won if he fought Buster Douglas in a rematch.

  • @jason60152 Mike would of won the first fight if he kept Kevin Rooney..And Mike's main strength was his bob and weave..Mike had neither in the fight with Douglas..Buster Douglas fought supremely, but would still not beat Tyson at his best..One sportswriter said something like "The day Kevin Rooney was fired, there was a cap put on Mike's development."..

  • @apollo792 Why did he fire Kevin Rooney?

  • @jason60152 The Don King influence took over Mike Tyson..He convinced Mike to fire Kevin and all the other people that helped Mike become the champion..Don King controlled everything, creating TEAM TYSON, a group of new people like leeches John Horne and Rory Holloway..You can just look at John Horne(standing behind Mike in post fight interviews) and tell he's a leech..

  • @apollo792 You are right.Don King messed up Mike Tyson's career. SMH

  • Buster Douglas = Worst Heavyweight champion of all time.

  • @strategery101 Leon Spinks is also worthy of consideration for that dubious honor.

  • Being a great fighter means many things. Buster it means being in shape for every fight. Holyfield always was. Tyson it means not underestimating any fighter including Douglas. Holyfield never took anyone for granted. He expected a war everytime and usually got one because he ducked no one.I really respect bowe cause he was the bigger man and went to war with holyfield. I dont respect Lewis cause he was the bigger man and didnt go to war with holyffield. He fought to out point him

  • Only time i have seen a fighter Holyfield win for another fighter tyson. The fact that Holyfield beat Douglas only means that Holyfield was better than douglas not that the douglas tyson fight was a mirage. Only a rematch with Douglas could have redeemed tyson holyfield couldnt do it for him.

  • Douglas getting his ass kicked by Holyfield was funny because Douglas was fat.

  • BLUBBER Douglas was in horrible shape for this compared to Tyson. I guess he felt he had nothing left to prove.

  • Fixed!!!

Douglas didn't even try to get up WTF?!

  • Holyfield was actually the fourth person to move up a weight class to become champion. Bob Fitzsimmons,Floyd Patterson,Mike Spinks and then Holyfield.

  • @muclesmarinara didn't leon spinks start out as a lightheavy?

  • @muclesmarinara Marciano weighed 185 pounds so he counts too I would think.

  • esa pelea estubo bendida para que peliaran mike vs holyfiel

  • he was busy spending his earning from tyson fight that he forgot training. he looks like a loaf of bread

  • why the hell did he throw that uppercut from so far away?! He left him self wide open!

  • buster was the biggest one hit wonder ever!! fucking fat chump, I wonder if hes broke yet...

  • @brandonladuca Nope, he's doing pretty well for himself.

  • prime for prime holyfield owns tyson

  • lol at buster on the canvass. It looked like he was gona get up, but he was just like "fuck it." LOL.

  • Douglas was a bum and holyfield showed it here. Just the tyson whiners had to make the excuse of the extra poundage. No way at any weight douglas could have beat holyfield and if he did holyfield unlike tyson and his fans wouldnt have protested, whined, and made excuses. Tyson was a no class bum that could only ko other bums

  • Douglas saved himself a lot of trouble by staying down. Being that out of shape, he had no chance of keeping up with Holyfield's pace.

  • lol nice dive...

  • It is called passion. Douglas had all the talent in the world, but one night he had a reason to have passion. He never had passion for the sport otherwise, he just happened to be talented, so he boxed.

  • Buster "the 24-mil-collector" Douglas!

  • Sometimes I think Mills Lane is going to throw a punch.

  • Wow, Holyfield really was the real deal in the early 90s. I wish he could have fought Tyson around 89/90, because that might have been the all-time greatest fight ever. The actual Tyson/Holyfield fights were great, but Tyson had lost most of his edge... Holyfield had lost a little bit too by 96, just not as much. Douglas just got lucky and had the right mindset on the right night... but he definitely wasn't good enough to be fighting at this level.

  • @instereovideos na douglas was good enough but after tyson he let himself go. its like he didnt want it anymore after one of the biggest upsets in boxing history.

  • @dougtaylor42 yeah I disagree.

  • @dougtaylor42 I agree, he wasn't a mentally tough fighter, he just didn't show up for this fight like he did with Tyson.

  • @dougtaylor42 Yeah true. Also Douglas was an on and off fighter throughout his career. He came motivated for some fights and for other he fought like he fought here against Holyfield. Douglas was what you call wasted talent, he had the potential to be very good and maybe one of the top fighters of his era but he never followed up on his potential. Look at the way he fought Tyson, Douglas would have beaten almost any heavyweight of his time that night.

  • dear god, douglas just looked like he couldn't be bothered getting up. if he had of beaten holyfield, he would've got another big pay day. That really was a 'soft' knockout. i hate seeing wasted talent. As they say in 'A Bronx Tale', there is nothing worse than wasted talent..

  • i think dougles coulda got up from that... i coulda

  • Buster beat Tyson for his mom guys, it was a one off magical title win over Iron Mike. He was helped by the angels. Just leave it at that.

  • Look at how pudgy Douglas is. He took Holyfield WAY too lightly.

  • he could have gotten up he just said fuck it

  • fuck that fat boy tyson fan here lol

  • i think if tyson would of trained harder and i think he could of blasted douglas what holyfield did 2 douglas was what tyson should of did

  • @TopFlightSwag85 exactly tyson was out of shape..plus robin givens plus don king plus his train died so much shit to deal with when you have a personality like tyson..buster got lucky at the right time...he was never good enough to fight holyfield or lewis..he caught tyson slipping at the right time !

  • Let us just say for the sake of argument that tyson did underestimate douglas and wasnt in shape. that is why holyfield was great and tyson wasnt. Holyfield was always ready and in shape. i really want to acknowledge that tyson was at least a very good heavyweight but he and his fans whine and make excuses for every loss that it just becomes sickening. if you dont know how to lose you arent great everybody loses..

  • holyfield diden't give him time to do all that bullshit in toyko but at the same time tyson was screwed it was the slowest count in boxing history douglas was still on the floor at 9 so that on punch from tyson did it was a slow fucking count i don't give a shit what anyone says i saw that shit live my damn self!

  • @rtfuhj Two things: First, the count wasn't slow. Douglas wasn't that hurt, you could see that when he was down. The ref broke the count, briefly, to send Tyson back to his corner (just watched the fight). Second, don't use the phrase 'boxing history' if you don't know boxing history. Google Jack Dempsey vs. Gene Tunney. THAT, my friend, was the slowest count in boxing history. Or, hell, since we're having fun, Bute vs. Andrade I. That count was infinitely longer than Tyson/Douglas.

  • IT was a got damn slow count son get that!!!! I was watching boxing when you were in pampers son!! dempsy was robbed I saw that fight son one night on classics but i saw douglas vs tyson live and that uppercut hurt his ass!!

  • EvanderHolyfield really showed power in that punch!

  • Mill's Lane said quote "I don't know if he could of gotten up but he sure as hell never tried". Chump not Champ the way he defended the undistputed title he won, he was in the best shape of his life for the Tyson fight, I don't care what anyone says, he was a great fighter that fight & Tyson would have had a tough fight even if he was in shape, but he would have won though

  • I can't believe it, Douglas was wiping his nose looking at the blood like it was a big deal that he'd been hit in the face, "Oh no, my nose is broken!". A very womanly reaction to being hit. He looked fully conscious but then decided to just lie back down on the canvas. And look how overweight and unconditioned he is going into this Championship fight. WHAT A FUCKING LOSER!! Tyson should be ashamed of himself, getting exposed by this piece of crap!

  • Douglas is a good fighter...and to those who don't understand how he beat tyson, you have to remember that Tyson had an infection. He should have waited several weeks to recover his strength. All the same: hats off to Douglas in that fight.

  • he quit...he coulda got bk up...im still trying 2 figure out how an untrained tyson didnt beat him

  • What was Douglas thinking, going into that fight in that kind of shape, against Holyfield, who is always in excellent shape, probably even better shape than Tyson

  • @jeremy10ization he was probably thinking about the $24.6 million he received for that fight. No wonder he retired after this one.

Against Tyson he was at his peak. He used his only advantage, the longer reach by keeping Tyson away with jabs and slowly dominated the match.

  • @girlie347 It's not the worst fate I ever heard of. With the 24 million dollar payday, plus purses from previous fights, Buster should have had enough money to do basically anything he wanted for the rest of his life. And instead of having to rigorously train for matches and earn a lot more money he didn't need, he chose to sacrifice his boxing legacy in exchange for sleeping on a pile of money with many beautiful ladies.

Unless he pissed it all away like Tyson, anyway.

  • @girlie347 Acutally he didnt retire after this fight. He actually fought nine times more going 8-1 beating mainly unknown fighters and losing to Lou Saverse. Dont take my word for it check out on wikipedia

  • Douglas- absolute waste of space. Tyson will avenge him in the next life.

  • douglas fought (and beat) a lot of good fighters before he was matched up with tyson (including some future champions), but he was always such an underachiever... he had the tools and skills, but his motivation was spotty... he never would have beaten an in-shape tyson, or an in-shape holyfield for that matter, but the guy could box and was a top-tier contender...

  • douglas has a funny head

  • Hahaha Lou Duva, Holyfield's trainer and Dan Duva jump over Douglas at the end of the fight.

  • tthis is what beat that pussy tyson. hahaha laying on his sorry ass from that weak punch. looks almost fixed.

  • @veeseee128 He threw his body forward trying to throw a reckless uppercut, so his entire weight was behind that punch. Holyfield came over the shot with a right hand. He was moving into a shot with his entire weight behind it. What I will say is though, Douglas could have gotten up but his heart wasn't in it.

  • What a fat fuck taking a dive. he didnt want to get up after that knocked down and could have

  • "Buster" Douglas, lol...what a freakin JOKE. It would have been SO much better for Boxing had Holyfield and Tyson met back then for the World title..

  • If Buster Douglas had been an NFL football player instead of a boxer, he would have been Dallas Cowboys cornerback Larry Brown. Google Brown and you'll see what I mean.

  • Its good Buster is fat and have diabetes. Ugly monkey.

  • In Tokyo Douglas had the desire to get up after Tyson floored him, in this fight you could see that he had no desire to even try to get up. It's like he said thanks for the 24 mil suckers.

  • @preo2 people always want to attribute it to desire when a fighter doesn't get up, but if you look at Douglas' reaction when he's on the canvas he has no idea where he is, doesn't realize he's at a boxing match and is trying to figure out what is going on. Buster's lack of desire cost him in training, but I won't attribute his reaction to the punch to a lack of desire. He was knocked out. Not the same as not wanting to get up.

  • @RaulGroom I disagree. Buster wasn't that out of it. He could've gotten up. His facial expression said it all IMO.

  • Comment removed

  • If you think desire doesn't have anything to do with a fighter getting up from a knockdown then you don't know much about boxing. The knock on Buster even before he fought Tyson was that he was talented but lacked desire. I'm not saying the shot from Holyfield didn't hurt him, but I just believe he could've gotten up. His eyes didn't roll back, his body didn't go limp, he even had the sense to check his nose when he was down. It's like he just chose to stay down.

  • @preo2 reminds me of a recent fight between two of the "best"

  • @preo2 I wouldn't blame him. It's fucking HOLYFIELD

  • now that was just some lazy bullshit right there, buster could have got up, his fat ass was glad it was over, he was tired by the end of the 1st, damn buster, u fucked up what could have been a well respected career

  • Buster is Busted!

  • L KO Tucker

    W KO Tyson

    L KO Holyfield

Which of these three results don't belong?

  • @DanielSong39 Don't downplay Buster's defeat of Tyson. He fought a perfect fight against Tyson. It was one of the biggest upsets of all time and one of the best fights of all time.

  • @mr1985able, I don't know about that. I think you DO have to downplay Buster's defeat of Tyson for a number of reasons. It's well known that Tyson knocked Douglas out in the eighth of that fight. But Douglas was saved by a long count and it's undeniable when you watch the footage. And Douglas's pathetic title defense (first and only) against Holyfield proved he was not a worthy champion. Nothing against Buster, but his title win was a moment that really deserves the label of "fluke."

  • @rhiggins30 Wow...Well I don't think anybody will change your mind buddy. If ya go back and watch the tape it is clear that it wasn't a fluke. Buster fought a perfect fight that night with the exception of the knock down. And yes, I will admit that the bell definitely helped him out. Everybody knows that. But those are the rules of boxing. He made an amazing comeback in the fight and won with a knockout victory. It is still the greatest upset ever in the history of boxing.

  • @mr1985able, I definitley agree that it is boxing's greatest upset. And you're right, my opinion is air-tight on this particular subject. But I appreciate you respecting my opinion and not trying to change it. Respect to you.

  • @rhiggins30 No problem.

  • @rhiggins30 tyson was dealing with so much in 90' robin givens plus king and his best friend and train died ..

  • @fatpatlives1998, yes, I know.

  • @fatpatlives1998 Cus D'Amato died in November 1985; not only 51 months before the Douglas fight, but a year before he won the title. The excuses are ridiculous. If someone doesn't cherish the greatest title in all of sports enough to defend it, he deserves to lose it. At least Douglas admitted that Holyfield was the better fighter.

Tyson was not the better fighter that day, because like all bullies, he was exposed the instant someone stood up to him.

  • @fatpatlives1998 his trainer died like 5 years beofore he lost the fight. Any other excuses you want to bring up, you fucking retard? LOL./

  • @toadman842 ...no excuses ..no need to curse people out over the internet tough guy !

  • this was the douglas tyson thought he was getting

  • what was a "mirage" was Tyson as a great heavyweight.

  • Look at holyfields midsection, its as small as a middleweights.I believe tyson would have chopped up this holyfield's stomach from 88 to 92.

  • Buster Douglas sucks.

  • @NoBSODforme526

Don't say that. Buster was the world champion. How many times were you the heavyweight champion? How many times did you beat Mike Tyson? Buster was a strong man and a decent fighter who came up big against Tyson.

  • @muclesmarinara Buster caught a bolt of lightening when he fought Tyson. Tyson was hungover from partying and didn't even train for Douglas. Nobody knew Douglas was gonna be a 100 times better than usual on that night. Also I think Tyson won that fight because Douglas was knocked out longer than Tyson and Tyson had to look around for his mouthguard. It was the biggest fluke in boxing history. Douglas went the distance and Tyson underestimated him. In a rematch with Tyson focused, round 1 victory

  • @NoBSODforme526 Yes in a rematch Tyson would most likely win but Buster won the heavyweight championship of the world at one time in history and he deserves respect. Plus,he is a really nice man.

  • @muclesmarinara He does have I think 38 wins and only 6 or 7 losses so Douglas I guess is OK, They should have had a rematch but Buster retired for a while when losing to Holyfield and Tyson had to go to Jail. That Jail time Tyson did changed him. Holyfield is a punk though for headbutting Tyson for both those fights causing Tyson to go insane and made him lose almost 2 more years of boxing. I still think Tyson did great in the Lewis fight in 2002 out of his prime.

  • @NoBSODforme526 I think Holyfield's style just clashed with Tysons style. I don't think that Holyfield did it on purpose, just like Mike didnt throw elbows on purpose. Most fouls in boxing are accidents. Mike Tyson is a tragic figure in boxing,I loved him in his prime but hated him when he turned into that sort of thug bully guy.

  • @NoBSODforme526 Buster was so on it that night, the best Tyson could've showed up, and while it would've at least been more competitive, Tyson,or any1 in the heavyweight division at that time 4 that matter, would've got their azz handed 2 them Douglas was a lazy fighter, and only fought good when he was motivated. In this fight u can clearly tell based on his shape and punch output he was only there 4 the paycheck.BTW, Douglas just went by the refs count, no matter what he was still gonna get up

  • @jasonputang Tyson didn't even use any combinations in his fight here against douglas. If the Tyson who beat up Larry Holmes showed up, Buster would have lost easily. Tyson was lazy in this fight and looked like maybe he did have a lot to drink the night before while Buster was training his ass off. The Tyson who fought Lewis in 2002 ( even though he lost) put on a far better performance and would have whooped Douglas. Something was just wrong in that 1990 fight.

  • @NoBSODforme526 u wanna know y he didn't throw any combos? Cause Buster wouldn't let him. If Tyson had issues going on be4 the fight oh well, Buster had problems galore, and he didn't let it impact him in a negative way. I will say Tyson didn't use a lot of head movement like he usually does. Again though, that's his fault his corner reminded him over n' over again 2 do so.

  • @jasonputang It was still just a damn fluke, I was hoping they could have a rematch and then it would show that Tyson is awesome against everyone else but Buster Douglas has a special talent to take him down. Not to mention his height and reach was far better than Tysons.

  • @NoBSODforme526 No it just showed that Douglas had reverted to the chronic lack of dedication he showed throughout his career. He was clearly puffy and soft entering the fight. He was 15 pounds heavier than when he destroyed and exposed Tyson. His timing was off and good grief, throwing a clumsy lead uppercut???

  • @NoBSODforme526 in a rematch tyson would have killed douglas..the partying and don king took its toll on him ..he said his sparring partner knocked him down when he was training ...just wasnt ready

  • 4:23 they walked OVER Douglas to see Holyfield! Nice sign of respect there...

  • holyfield's still going strong. he ko'd brian nielsen the other night

  • tyson was an idiot not to fight douglas again. I dont really like lennox lewis but he got knocked out by two bums oliver mcCall and rahman but at least he avenged those losses. Perhaps if tyson wouldnt have be a rapist the fight would have happened who knows.

  • @bobber0623 Oliver McCall was not a bum, and in the 90's he was a fringe contender in the heavyweight division.

  • @bobber0623 very true!!!!!!....and actually in some ways he did....buster didnt really seem to pick up the pace until mike almost got him on a 9 count....after that it was a whole new person he fought

  • @bobber0623 DOn King was the idiot because there was no clause in tyson/douglas contract for a rematch because no one in hell thought tyson would lose. The winner simply got holyfield.Tyson was favored in ring magazine to ko holyfield had they met in 92.And I agree he would have without the rape thing on his mind because that screwed up his second fight with ruddock.

  • Comment removed

  • it's funny the punch that ko'd him was nowhere near as powerful or suprising as tysons uppercut, buster could have got up but he went into a shell and wanted out of there, he was a lazy bastard and if it wasn't for tyson being in such bad shape & the motivation of losing his mother he would have been out of there in the 1st 6 rds, not taking anything away from holy though he fought the perfect fight and landed clean and hard

  • losing to evander holyfield is nothing to be ashamed of

  • So much credit to Holyfield for this fight. Perfect!

  • how the fuck did this guy beat Mike Tyson

  • @UbicaLepogLica1 Cause he was talented, in shape, and was completely focused against Tyson, and he was the exact opposite against Holyfield. Don't be simple minded, buster had a lot of skills......

  • There are tons of excuses for fighters that lose - e.g. the fighter didn't care, too many distractions or didn't take the opponent seriously. What I never see is that same fighter not having enough reasons to motivate themselves for a win. In my opinion that just makes the winner look that much better.

  • This would have happened anytime at any weight. Douglas was a bum and Tyson was overated.

  • @bobber0623 half right, buster douglas was a bum and Tyson is the greatest of all time. End O story. Faggit

  • douglas got lucky one night of his life against tyson and it showed

  • @TheSupersabby got lucky? are you an idiot or what? have you seen the fight?

  • @ChillPill365 yeah i have it on tape, douglas is not that good, and holyfield showed it, every dog has its day and he had his day vs tyson

  • @TheSupersabby actually douglas fought the perfect fight and showed up in prime shape and ready to go. there was nothing "lucky" about that performance and if you think so either you don't know the definition of lucky or you're a complete moron.

  • @ChillPill365 that was the only fight he ever showed up like that and that goes back to every dog has his day no one thought douglas was gonna win, he was a huge underdog and look at this fight, he wasnt in as good as shape as he was vs tyson his technique looked lethargic and when he got knocked down he didnt wanna get back up u saw it in his eyes, when tyson goes down he looks for his mouth piece and he wants to get up and kill someone he got lucky everyone in the world but u sees this

  • @ChillPill365 i don't think he means he won luckily just that the circumstances surrounding the tyson fight that all fit into place at the time gave douglas more of an advantage than everyone knew, tyson went to japan out of shape and starved himself to look in shape and douglas trained harder than ever & also got personal motivation to win it for his dead mother, but shit happens and douglas won & then went back to his fat ass unmotivated ways again, peace bro

  • Douglas in that match is a far from the form see against Tyson. Too heavy, feat. But Evander timing and style boxing are very good. Wherever i must to say: how many different whitout Mike is the emotional contest... Mike, you has been the best, and forever nobody we can see someone like you.

  • good, fu@@ buster fluke winning lazy ass carpet layer.

  • wtf was buster doing??? he could have gotten up that pisses me off hope they held his money

  • @TheRich30

Douglas made over $24,000,000 for this fight...didn't train, came in fat, lay down and quit first time he got hit. Take six zeros off, and you'd have a purse which reflected Douglas' effort. One of the biggest disgraces in the history of the heavyweight championship.

  • @garethac81 very true he tarnished the belt ali defended with great pride holmes over 7 years he reigned supreme and defended it with pride i would have taken his license away personally and never let him step him step foot in a professional boxing ring again.

  • This is how Buster Douglas defends his title? By coming out fat and out of shape to fight a great fighter in his prime? No wonder we never heard from him again!

  • @ph1484. funny ass comment. hopefully somebody else gets it. in 1990, jose canseco hit 40 home runs and stole 40 bases. :)

  • @southbeachtalent hahaha woot woot

  • Looked like Buster quit.

  • Evan FIELDS, the NEW CHAMPION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @ph1484 hahaha woot woot

  • That punch didn't even look like it landed flush...

  • this the the james douglas tyson expected to fight

  • not smart starting with a uppercut holyfield countered beautiful

  • the anouncer asked if tokyo was a fluke...no tokyo was tyson having sex with too many asian women, drinking, and smoking weed weeks before the fight. Tyson in shape with rooney wud of destroyed james "mantitty" douglas.

  • @lolointro1 tyson wasnt in his best shape against douglas.but the problem was douglas was mutated vs tyson.douglas was a legend for one fight.here vs holyfield we see the old douglas.

  • @lolointro1

True. I give Buster his props for Japan, but Tyson doomed himself more than anything Buster did by not trainin.

    And fuckin lol at 'Mantitty."

  • THis fight was fixed. Pacheco knew.

  • @TheFlyingDutchman39 you are an idiot

  • Comment removed

  • this is the douglas tyson expected

  • buster was like "to hell with this, give my pay check" jajajajaja

  • footwork

    movement

    jabbing

    balance

    combonations

    angles

Holyfield was sweet.... this had nothing to do with Busters weight..

  • That straight right is such an effective punch, dont waste time with jabs,go straight right, much more power in it..

  • See how Lou duva just stepped over douglas on the floor hahahahaha

  • Buster Douglas didn't even train for this fight.
