It aint no joke, I'd like to by the world a toke, and teach the world to sing in perfect harmony. And in the second verse it says. 25 years ago, they spoke out and they broke out and together they toked, and they folked out with guitars around the bon fire...

That's what it really is man. Not all drugs lead to peace. The song does mention to lay off the crack because crack kills the brain while weed opens up the mind. Smash Mouth is for sure pro weed, they even have another song called "Stoned".

There are still those who don't think it is good, but there are a lot of people who also say it is good. Smash Mouth and other musicians like Willie Nelson, Bob Marley, The Beatles, and so many more musicians all smoked weed, and most of them are pro weed. Some is bad for you. As is tar. And all mood altering things can harm you. But, for instance, Delta-9 THC is a lot less harmful than Nicotine. So if i use that (a legal drug) as the baseline then no, weed isnt "bad for" people. If i use...say...water as a baseline, then yes it is. Either way it is a lot safer than crack.
