It's an Octavia. I know he had a a Voodoo Labs ProOctavia which for the money was a close version of the Tycbro-Octavia. But now that he has a lot of money, has great tone advice from Steve Jordan and Rene Martinez, and can get whatever he likes... I'm certain now he has the Roger Mayer Octavia.
Crud... and I just bought a Hendrix Dunlop Octavio because I was convinced that was the effect used. Now I'm gonna have to get somethin else!!! Lol, that Octavio does the job well
I have a fulltone ultimate octave that works really great, too. it has the octave up feature and can replicate the sound in this intro really nicely, and it was only like $200.
I thought he uses a Roger Mayer Octavia like Hendrix and SRV.... I love John's sound, but he changes gear so much, it's impossible to keep up with. The POG and Octavia have the ability to "Octave up" which make it have that sweet sound. The Boss Octave "octaves down" one or two... I hated octave pedals cause I thought they all octaved down. Not the case... Now I want a Octavia or a Chicago Iron
You are an absolute moron, it's the exact same melody as Black Cat. It's not an insult to John that he clearly likes it and is inspired by the guitar riff in that song? He improvises on it but it's Black Cat, jeez.
sounds like an octavia, with some pog, and an 808.

who cares about gear , i've the hendrix digitech and with soul you get tone , you 'll never gain soul with tones. Mayer is great ,at last for me.
