Could you please tell about how much it cost you to do this mod? I've been dieing to supercharge my mach and I've seen a few local eatons for sale, but I'm not sure how much everything else costs that I'll need.
@SilverbackGorilla69 With the tune and all the parts (gauges and such), it came to just over $3000 for everything. Some people have done it all for as little as $2000. Just depends on what kind of deals you can get on the parts. If you want it cheap, you have to be patient.
@reloaded183 I dont under stand how 99 , 01 cobras and mach 1's can run these eatons on stock internals. Back in 2000 when svt was testing supercharged engines for the 03 cobra they weren't making it past 8 - 10 hours on the dyno, they were throwing rods through the block all directions. u got me
@IDontHateOnCars Well a lot comes down to the tune and making sure that you aren't running too high of a PSI. I suppose that if you ran the engine flat out for a long period of time, you'd probably have more failures than on a street-driven car that doesn't see max psi for long periods of time and high RPM runs. Some people have helped their engine last longer by shifting at 5800-6500 instead of all the way to 6800
@SIKMACH1 It's an awesome swap. It's still very streetable, as long as you don't go flooring it in first or second. The sound of that Eaton never gets old. And if you can find the right parts at the right prices, it can be done fairly cheap.
@TheHydrocortisone Haha yeah, a 2.76" upper and larger lower would definitely not be good on a stock Mach 1 block. The smallest I ran on the stock block was a 3.4" upper, and that put it right at 9 PSI.
@reloaded183 damn that's not bad at all. i was getting like 16.5 mpg city in my 2000 gt, but then i changed my spark plugs to new motorcraft single platinums and now i'm getting 18 mpg city, no idea about the hwy
@speeddemon0712 Dude seriously i dont understand why people think mustangs are gas guzzlers. My brother had a 04 mustang gt and he got 22 city and 27 hwy. He did have an intake and exhaust which raises your fuel efficiency by a little but still thats very good mpg comparing with my friends 300zx non turbo that averages 18 mpg and is 23hwy. My wrx that gets 21city and 26 hwy, so mustang gets the same mpg as any other car in its power range.
@Specialized1993 oh yea definitely... idk what's going on with mine. im getting 18mpg city which i though is great for a "muscle car", but it seems alot of gt owners claim to get 20+mpg city. i just did a full tune up, minus wires, and it helped my mpg some, but not like i hoped it would. what else can i do?
I love it. For what it is, it does a great job. The car is a rocket atm. I seriously couldn't imagine a twin screw on this car, but everyone's idea of speed is different. They max out pretty close to where I'm at and aren't nearly as effecient, but if you're on the stock bottom end, then it won't matter because you'll be more limited by that than the s/c.
@BrhinosBullitt DO NOT put a roots-type blower on your mustang! They make boost @ low rpms and that will DESTROY your bullitt engine!!! Put on a procharger for ~1-2k and later build you engine if you want...they are MUCH safer on stock engines, and roots cost a SHIT load and will get rid of your precious bullitt intake!
It's a Spec stage 3 puck clutch and Fidanza aluminum flywheel. The shift-knob is a Motorsport (Ford Racing Performance Parts) 03-04 Cobra style shift-knob with a 5-speed pattern instead.
@josh1303 Yeah I could do that. Let me get some time here, maybe tomorrow evening. The shaker fits easily under there with the s/c. A friend of mine made some simple brackets that work very well and allow for adjustability of the shaker.
@josh1303 What do you mean exactly? The only way to get the HP and TQ to where I'm at right now with the 2.76" pulley would be to run either a pretty aggressive tune or more boost than stock. But with the block having a high compression ratio, it could be a recipe for a blown engine.
dam gt 2 give it 2 u its sick now n u gt a sold rear i gt a 2.76 on my 04 snake n thinkn of 2.60 now n 100shot nice love the whine its JUST LIKE MY WIFE WHINEEENNIN LOL
It was for a lean code. It's fine under WOT, but sometimes cruising around town, it would read a "lean code". Not sure of the reason yet. Previous to the engine swap the CEL didn't come on. I'm not even sure if the rear O2s are turned off in this current tune.
Not as good as with an a-piller pod setup. If you're going straight it's fine for the most part, but the steering wheel does block the visibility sometimes. I did it because I wanted it not to be as noticeable as an a-pillar mount.
Yea thats exactly what Im looking for. the pillar gauges are too visible and dont feel like racing people all day and night. So other than when turning the wheel you can see them fine, in other words, are they worth it?
Definately. The pod fits quite well and the gauges are easy to put in. And it really depends on where in the car you sit (close or far from the steering wheel) and whether you have the wheel tilted or not. If I tilt the wheel up then I can see the gauges even better. But yes, short answer, worth it. I can e-mail you pics from the driver's seat so you can see what it looks like if you were sitting there if you'd like.
Man that would be great, yea tilt the bit upwards but dont lay my seat back like a gangster or anything. Also is that the color thats supposed to match our cars interior or is there another lighter black. I'll PM you my email.
A LOT. There are hundreds of small parts that have to be swapped from a Cobra to make it work along with the full fuel system. Definately worth it though!
Not so far. Rear end doesn't lock all the time, but so far that's it. The Cobra engine only has about 700 miles on it though. Trans still shifts like butter.
