Tommy - I dont know if Clapton ever heard Peter Green, but I do know this Roy could play and Clapton gave him his propers, remember now Roy did not use stomp boxes a claim that very few players today can make - Juiceman
torture is the proper word. i too was introduced to roy via the live stock version of this song. it literally changed my approach to the guitar. what the hell were you thinking roy??? rip
Add another vote from me for hearing the "Live Stock" version of this song, the one that induced me to go out and buy his CDs. It's *totally* different; both are good though. There are a few things on that version that blew me away and still do. Incredible player. He could torture notes out of a guitar that nobody else would have ever thought to imagine.
other people can make a guitar cry, he could make the guitar screem so loud that you would think the guitar was having the blues. so torture is a good word
i bought livestock in 1980, 14 years when i really started practicing the guitar. i very clearly remember being mesmerized by roy´s playing. i simply fell in love with thoe violin swells, those screams tele bridge pickup bendings. roy, one of my major influences.he was too good.
Roy master guitar player, but "HORRIBLE"...vocalist! Roy's voice was always weak and distracting. I really liked Charlie Daniels as vocalist,..as well Dilbert Mcclinton.
(lee32Uk..I think you could have uploaded it as one file youtube accepts videos up to 10:59 seconds...just that you know if you want to upload something long again. thanks!)
@stereosign what in god's name are people smoking? R.B is not that good! he's not bad, but he's nothing compared to any other great blues musician. i just don't get it. oh well to each his own....
Wow. Tremendous. The chord progressions and scales he's using are just absolutely soul soothing. Roy's tone & technique was simply brilliant. Another one that has left us way too soon.
Wonderful. What a brilliant player always, but also such delicious tone. I saw him at the Crossroads in Bladensburg, MD in the early 70s. One of the highlights of my life.
I would see him any chance I could, but most always at Jonathan Swift's in Cambridge Ma. I'd wait up to an hour before the show, sometimes longer, just to be able to sit at a table in front of the stage. He was one of a kind and certainly a gifted artist, it's a shame there aren't any commercially available vids to be had

A true original master. More versatile than Hendrix or any of the EVH/G3 clones out today. His invention and touch were immaculate.
