i have found that a combination of hand soap candle wax and petroleum jelly works the best for me. i use a thicker version for the 3x3 and a thinner version for the 5x5.
i use some crappy silicone spray i got at walmart, it slows down the cube alot.. i put it in the core and my guhong hasn't recovered. gota buy a new one or put up with a slower than normal cube... :(
i use crc, come check out my video on it. And the way i apply it depends on the amount of time i have, if i am in a hurry to go somewhere, then i just spray it in, but if i have time then i take the pieces off and sweep spray. and i use crc or all my cubes because its cheap and is available at most places.
@Mrstreetballer97 Use 50KW Differential Oil from either Ofna or Traxxas brands. They're the EXACT same viscosity and type of silicone as Lubix. I got 50ccs for $5 off Amazon. Seriously. Don't pay through the roof just because Lubix has a fancy tagline.
i use jigaloo, but i put it on disassembled, and let it sit under a fan until it's totally dried (like, completely not gooey anymore), 1 maybe 2 days, before putting it back together. the theory is that jigaloo is supposed to be dry. It's awesome, try it.
I use CRC but I notice that it eats my black plastic after a while. I recently started using maru lube and it's amazing but if you leave your cube that's below room temperature the lube wears off pretty quickly.
I've used Jig-a-Loo on all my cubes in the past, but I now have Lubix. I've only used it on the Guhong (which I hated when I got it.) I lubed the core, the screws, and the washers. I'm now over 1 second faster with it on average over my formerly beloved FII with Jig-a-Loo in less than a week! Thank you Donovan!!! I guess I'll use Jig-a-Loo for my household creaks and squeeks!
even if you lost your maru lube you still could have said what you think of it. i recently got some and are scared to use it and your consent would have made me much happier.
I used CRC for awhile, now Jig a loo only. Works great in FII's and Edisons. I use the BadMephisto method of spraying each piece in 2 sweeps. They are all good and better than vaseline, for sure.
The silicone is called a Ghost Hand silicone spray. You can see the orange chinese letters (which is the logo, btw). I use Jig-a-loo mixed with Maru lube. If I had any, I would prefer lubix lube.
Btw, the silicone spray that you don't know what it is, it's called a Ghost Hand. You can see the ghost hand logo on it (The orange letters). I never knew it until I saw ur video. So yeah, that's a Ghost Hand Silicone spray.
Lightake actually shipped silicone spray? o_O I presumed it wouldn't get shipped because it's an aerosol can; now I'll have to buy the ProStaff lube with my next order.
I've used CRC Heavy Duty, Jig-a-loo, and 20wt shock oil. I don't like the feel of shock oil. Both CRC and Jig-a-loo feel nice, but I prefer Jig-a-loo. I apply silicone spray by taking the straw and cutting it so it fits under the cap, then either take pieces out or cut a corner and spray it in.
Take all the pieces and spray them individually with CRC, spray one side wait 10 minutes, spray the other wait 10 minutes, and spray the third side wait for about an 1 hour to dry.
Personally, I only have Jig and CRC. I use CRC for certain puzzles, like to loosen up a Rubik's 5x5 or in a non-speedcube. I use Jig-A-Loo in all of my somewhat main 3x3 puzzles. I find both lubricants to have an easy application and a good overall effect. For application, I take out opposite corners (of a 3x3) and spray once in each. --R
I just got some Prostaff D39 from Lightake (The orange one), it's what Haiyan uses in his store and also what F2's come pre-lubed with. I had a quick squirt in my F2 and it felt great, didn't have the gummy feel that everything else I've tried has had.
@BluePi1313 I know esquimalt's is the Ghost Hand silicone spray. After seeing @Godmil's comment, I am going to get the Prostaff over the Ghost Hand lube.
i used a lube i got w/ my v-cube set im not sure what kind it is but i only use it in my 3x3s and for applying i take an edge out spray some in and work it iin for about my 5min
Gee, since I haven't gotten my colored Gu Hong in the mail, yet, I have to look at yours. I also ordered 2 more cubes from lightake 4 days ago, and they still haven't shipped them. I'm getting really pissed off. How long did it take you to get your cube from them?
@Grayhams11 - Ahhh ok. Sorry for taking that the wrong way. It's hard to tell over text. Actually, badmephisto recommended that in one of his videos. He said he tried vegetable oil once because he had no silicone, and it worked but it was really runny.
Regarding Lubix: It is not similar, it is EXACTLY the same as shockoils are - it just differs in viscosity and beeing so, is just a BIG waste of money. Buy thicker shockoil and your fine - for less money.
The lube you got from lightake - it was the wrong one. You should have tkaen the other one. THAT then is the one Haiyan uses. From what he says the best lube you can get.
@cube7876 Yes, the "Professional Magic Cube Lubricant (420ml)" - but don't ask me what its real name is, I would have to search for it first in my chat-history. And I am not sure, but I think it was an lubricant based on fossil-oil (but not sure any more). Howsoever: I once gave me cubes lubed with that and they were great.
@123IOWNALL321 Yeah - as long as your not in California, everything should be fine. Maby even get better the farer one is away from Cali - who knows...
crc, back in the day? yeah, it was popular like 3 years ago, i dint know about it anymore though. i still use it for everyday stuff. (i dont cube anymore)
I posted that comment before the end of the video. haha
To answer your questions at the end. When I lube my cubes I just pop an edge piece and spray it in. I work it in for 5-10 minutes. Also, I re-lube my cubes after a little over a month or so.
I use CRC because that's all I can find. I've been looking for Jig-a-Loo, but none of the stores around here carry it. I still want to find some, and I really want to get Maru Lube because I hears it's really good.
