This is a Eurocopter AS350 with a CW main rotor system. The fact that the fuselage is turning CW would imply the aircraft has suffered a tail rotor failure. Once you come below an airspeed where the vertical fin can't provide directional stability then your only option is a run-on landing. Maybe the tail rotor failed in the hover which would probably explain the lack of forward airspeed. Pilot did a damn fine job under what would have been extremely difficult circumstances.
42 Degree gearbox failure. He must have felt it go and cut power before it ran away from him. Damn good flying.
