I believe that IF aliens have visited our planet and IF the government is keeping their identity a secret is because if the government were to go public with the truth about aliens, it would cause anarchy accross the planet due to so many people in the world believing in a God (aprox 80%)and it would discredit their faith. 1. If the highest speed achievable is the speed of light, then any alien journey here would take atleast "years" because of the improbibility of abiogenesis and rarity of suitable planets that can habour life.

1. That is relative time. The closer you travel to the speed of light the slower time passes in your frame of reference. So for them the journey may only take a few hours or days, when in our frame it appears to take many many years.

In the early 1980's the scanning tunneling microscope was invented at IBM-Zurich in Switzerland. This was the first microscope able to see atoms. Yet why it only in the last couple years nano-tech courses are offered in colleges? Moreover, China can reverse engineer western technology in a matter of months. We would have done the same with alien nanotech, if it existed.

I would agree, our military would consider any kind of technology superior to ours as threatening, even in the hands of peaceful beings. Its only logical, try to shoot down the saucers, peaceful or not, and learn what we can from it so that we can neutralize that type of power.

You stated that these spacecrafts would be engineered to perfection by nano technology. And, in a matter of speaking, this sounds very plausible thinking of nano technolocial possibilities.
BUT how come that they nevertheless tend to crash down here?
What could possibly went wrong in such an intimidatingly sophisticated machine.

Even though it may seem engineered to perfection, everything in the grand scheme is in one way or another flawed.
Even if it doesnt seem that way to our perception.

If the craft were using beam propulsion, and it flew through a microwave radar antenna relay like the ones set up at Roswell Army Airfield back in 1947, it could cause the propulsion systems to malfunction...
