I reward my students with stickers in elementary kids and bags of chips and one can of soda for the middle/high school students. Sometimes the middle school students I subbed with prefer stickers. First time, though, they're always rowdy, but they see I take my reward system seriously & they start behaving themselves. They're like "Oh?! I could get soda and chips, if I do well in class and do all of my work." Rewards work, though from this video this is clearly not a class from Edison high.

So true. I used to keep tallies of good behavior in my first grade class, and when they got to five tallies, they got computer time. It didn't take me long to realize the kids forgot about the computer time and thought the tallies WERE the rewards. They would do anything to see another one appear, and they'd snap to it in an instant if I raised the eraser and threatened to get rid of one.

Wow, where I interned in the states... we aren't allowed to reward them with candy for good behavior/good answers. Not healthy. they have some kinda health thing going on where we can't bring in unhealthy stuff.
