Merci dieu, je l'ai trouve finalement!! Decades ago, I had this song on a compilation tape (long dead) of Ms. Gassion's songs that did not show the titles. I've spent years fruitlessly humming it to French folk, to no avail, until now.
Someone needs to put this song in a movie, preferably with a tender waltz of strangers who will be in love by song's end. This has to be my favorite of all her great repetoire.
BTW, did you catch the photo of her and a so young Yves Montand?

A friend introduced this song to me, and it is one of those songs that you do feel inclined to suggest to your friends. In my case anyway. Very grateful for it :)
I will never tire of this track. I don't know the interpretation, but it is a beautiful song and the emotion in piaf's voice is unmistakable. She needs to be discovered anew by everyone who hasn't heard her.
