I remember reading somewhere (can't remember where) that the planet you're refering to at 03.33 was supposed to be pronounced 'Vasquez.' This was a bit of a reference to the film Aliens, as I think Simon Furman stated that this story was heavily influenced by it.
Yes, there is. The Transformers: Generations line is coming out with a deluxe Thunderwing next year, the first new Thunderwing we've seen since this one and only the 2nd toy this character's ever received, I think. Considering how prominent a character he is among those of us who know the comics, I think it's only too fitting.
Do a Google image search for "Generations Thunderwing" and it should turn up a picture of him. If not, the tformers.com website has bulletins featuring good looks.
@heavyarms01h Its already out! Hard to find though. I grabbed mine when they put one on the shelf. Funny thing is when you read the instructions, the robot in the instructions is Black Shadow! Maybe they will release Black Shadow some day as a repaint of Thunderwing! I'll buy it!
Thunderwing...I love what Furmann did with this character. He's one of the most interesting high ranking Decepticons, in that he seems to have ambitions far beyond the tried and tested "Kill, kill, kill, conquer, conquer, conquer," ambitions that seem to stem into metaphysical realms. I'd certainly like to see him come back in the IDW universe as a more coherent, fleshed out character (a la Bludgeon). 5*
Thunderwing also appeared in some of the UK B&W stories and had a bit of a kerfuffle with Nightbeat. Though those stories are a tad more obscure than Matrix Quest!
Is it me or is Martix Quest have similarities to the lord of the rings? replace frodo et al with bumblebee the monster with Gollum and there you go...
ive never had a problem getting him into the shell so maybe somethings up with the one youve got? it could be the arms though, try angling them like a slight "V" before slotting him in.
thunderwing was one of my best buys as a kid. i was looking for some space faring TF at the time and he and cloudburst were the best i could get.
while the other megas got ripped thunderwing just looks great in his combined jet mode
Maybe the shell is regurgitating the original alt mode when they combine for the ship? Wicked looking pretender, the bio gives him a Dr. Jeckyl and Mr. Hyde-con feel, once he achieves power all the nobelness is no more... Great review as always Dave-T.J.
@KalelPrime>>>Yeah I forgot. But still I don't understand why do Transformer fans don't count shows like Headmasters, Masterforce, Victory and Zone?! I mean, the toylines came from there too. I appreciate your input.
That was great. Thunderwing is something you buy as a collector. You have to appreciate G1 and the character, because the toy is nothing special at all. For every good point, there is a bad one. But that was the nature of most G1 toys from that era.

Near on perfect review Dave, love all the back story and top coverage of the toy. Man, there needs to be a new Thunderwing toy. Massive one.

Is there a newer version of Thunderwing other than the micromaster/minicon one?

Okay I have a question.
Isn't tundering with the big n asty fellow from stormbringer?
The big bad ass pretender that proceeded to run over every one to the point of near armageddon?
I had no idea he had such a wild his story. Thats pretty wild.
Thanks for the great review.

VsQs - "Vasquez". Because Furman was a fan of "Aliens" (She's one of the marines).
Great review, Dave, I always liked Thunderwing.

Thunderwing appeared in one episode of Transformers Victory, the japanese cartoon show!
I don't understand why does everyone ignore the Four Japanese cartoons>Headmasters, Masterforce, Victory and Zone?!
joesingle 2 years ago
Because thats not Thunderwing, your thinking of Black Shadow who is not only a totally diffrent character but has a distinctly diffrent toy.
