  • LMFAO!!! it worked my first try after plugging everything back in XDD

  • I Love You ! ^^

  • ok so my console says e73 but my redlight is in the top right corner -__-. i tried this trick however and all green lights appeared and then the red light came back immediately after. any take on that?

  • mine did the E 74 and after 2 tries it worked perfect but after i went to gmae stop to sell it it did the same thing

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!

  • i have a 2009 xbox jasper it has the gpu heatsink that DOES NOT have that copper pipe an dis that good or bad and the cpu heatsink is the new one

  • @thetechhousereveiw how do you know its a jasper, did you replace the heat sinc?

  • @popkon51 nope its used but the seal was still on it when i got it and i didnt change it and it hasnt got close to getting hot

  • thanx man ! i see bythe reviews it worked !

so ama try it tomorrow :)

    hope it works!! (Y)

  • First time!!! Thanks Bro!!!!! \m/

  • ahhh!! it worked first time thanks man

  • AH! First try worked. Thanks a lot!!!!

  • *scratches head* If you had the 360 apart why not just unplug the fan?

  • :P

  • I had the same problem and used your video tech and it fixed mine too. Thank you so much.

  • this shit actually worked and it worked first time for me. thanks man :D

  • This may be temporary but at least it worked. For me anyway. Thanks man.

  • that's just temporary.. like.. 5 minutes.. then the red light shows again.. :S

  • waste of time dick head

  • It worked!

  • Shit this actually worked! Thanks a lot!

  • Its the thermal paste that's the actual problem u need to replace it cause its used up

  • the reason it takes so long to work is you have let the CPU and GPU time to cool down after all the heat.

  • YES.... IT WORKED!!....thank u so much

  • thanks man it worked it does take a while but you just need to keep trying i used screwdivers insted of paper clips but how long does it last dude

  • @DiEoHaRd It can be from 1 to 3 months or so but it slows down overtime. If you want to permanently fix it bring to a local computer store. Doing this method will eventually kill your xbox. Or actually follow the tutorial on youtube about changing your thermal paste in your xbox & that ought to fix it with a resource cost of around $10 - $15 maybe.

  • i did everything how it says do it....but it wont work AT ALL!!!!!

  • @AngryJoshua me 2 this is bull shyt

  • @AngryJoshua yeah total bull dosent do shit

  • dont put shit in the fans just unplug them putting those paper clips in the fans is just going to fuck up the fans eventuallly

  • I would to give u a pat on the bk xbox wanted 70 to 90 pound to fix my xbox i just done what you said and sweet it really does work thank you very much.

  • thank u so much my mom drpped my xbox yesterday abd she said i couldnt get another for a long time

  • it worked cyberdude. i did it 2 months ago.

  • Problably got e73 by leaving xbox 360 on floor like that 90% of xbox problems are heat related. The other 10% are manufacture defects lack of solder and poor solder connections flexing of the board from the heat warping etc.

  • @cyberzero2010 no i dont keep it on the ground i just set it there to fix it.

  • @utube6142 FYI the way your doing this fix will cause your fans to fail since you already opened it up take the pastic shroud off leave fans plugged in and working this is enough to overheat it. longer lasting method is too take the fans out of back of console lay them on cpu heatsink so temp sensor is cool for 30-40minutes let GPU heatsink get super hot put fan back let it overheat shut it off for 20minutes and it should last longer then a day it reflows the gpu to the board.

  • @utube6142 This fix your doing will cause fans to fail and that fix will not work long cause all your doing is fixing the cracked solder joints soon as it gets hot again it will crack and cause beep and freeze or E74/E73

  • Oh the paperclip trick will just mess up everything do the thermal paste

  • U don't even need to unplug the AV or Ethernet just power. Anyways u just meed to tale out all screws and replace the thermal paste bus when I did it too much it burnt out completely like black chip dry for the long comment

  • you crazy mazafucker)) thanks

  • thanks so much.

  • Song name plz

  • @arthuraf10ds if you listen to the lyrics, it's obviously "livin' on a prayer"

it's just somebody's stupid yelling version

  • @stupidrelaoded thanks

  • thx

  • i've been in the computer industry for over 10 years...you must use crappy thermal paste...Artic silver doesn't dry out...what this does is melts the solder throughout the board and when you remove heat it resolders itself...besides you are talking about something that is broken anyways and i don't know about you but the 360 mobo is 5 layers thick and it is impossible to solder the center after teh last coat of silicone is punt on ....i would unplug the fans...jamming them will burn the motors..

  • its easier to do it with the towels. but thanks this worked too.

  • dude ur a ledgejust done it and fixed it so who ever says it dont work u a fag and have really just done it wrong

  • good luck with blown fan motors

  • thanks alot worked perfect on the first try thanks again

  • I have maked the penny trick + the towel trick

My x box works better than i have bought it :D

  • Thanks, it rlly works. bless up !

  • i tried but it wont work :(

  • ur so sexy-- it worked the very first time i turned it on after this method- thank you

  • OMG IT WORKED FIRST TRY!!! I LOVE YOU

  • how many times can u do this befor ur xbox is totally fuckjed

  • @TheChilipepper77 works for a fairly good ammount of time

  • @utube6142 i tried it awhile ago and it didnt work

  • @TheChilipepper77 Sometimes it takes awhile when u start turning it off then on but yeah it works

  • Thanks, man!!!! Worked first time!!!! You saved my day!!! LoL

  • Do you gusy realize this will just make it worse than what it is? All it's doing it heating up the Thermal Paste and it drys up again. Once the Thermal paste is gone your xbox is no longer working. I have been taking many courses throughout many years of Computer Engineering. I know what i'm talking about.

  • @357Tutorials thats why i make it perfectly clear that you should only do it if ur gonna throw it away anyway..... in the description & in the video.....

  • @357Tutorials Couldn't use buy some 3rd party thermal paste from like newegg or something then

  • @357Tutorials so how much will it cost to get it repaired then if that is the only way?? im from UK so in pounds roughly? thanks

  • @357Tutorials whoah, rage quit

  • somewhere bon jovi is crying right now...

  • Worked for me. Thanks bud.

  • Worked first time. Have to say I was worried when seeing the method but it does work!

  • It DID NOT work for me!

  • u need to hold the scan button down while starting it to clear the e73 code

  • yes the fan will be loud becaus it's attempting to cool down the xbox

  • THANKS M8 i subscribed btw

  • THANKS VERY MUCH MAN I SUBBED YOU FOR THIS NICE TUTURIAL THANKS A LOT!

  • Thanks man. It worked. First problem i've ever had with my 360 and when i went to xbox.com they just said: "Send it in, we'll fix it." I was like, 'there must be a better way...' and so you are my savior.

  • iLOVEYOUILOVEYOUILOVEYOUUUU!!!!

  • ok so i tried it , and now i got 3 lights and the xbox wont even turn on??? its the two lights on the left like you said it would and the original red light on the bottom right.

  • hey is the fan supossed to be loud

  • 1:23 Who the hell is that?!

  • omg thank you so much it worked! Needed just 10min! But it was really hot xD

  • i try this now i hope it works for me!!!

  • Unreal man, worked instantly for me, thanks much appreciated

  • I don't get the light at all. I connect my Xbox to my router and the light on the router that says the device is connected. Is this a blown Ethernet port?

  • thank you so fuckin much, i got the red ring right before COD black ops.

  • nice really works at first try it work

  • people who watch this just no,i did this and it is not a perm. fix. granted it will work the first couple times but i did this for a month, red ring came back like every 2 days. now mine wont start and the fans in the back make a sound that u can hear in the quiet.by wont start i mean i have the e73 code and even doin this trick just gives me the 2 rings and wont work no matter how many times i restart it/ notice this also voids the warranty

  • @JJbOyZrOcK This is a last resort when you don't have a warranty. I'd rather play for a couple more months than have it just sit there especially since Black Ops comes out next week.

  • Awesome I can't believe this worked! I was really skeptical at first but I was like oh what the hell, why not. Sure enough, it worked! Thanks!

  • Can you help me this is my error... I get E73 then the xbox goes right into error 0013, I know that the ram is over heating but every time I take it apart it still does the same thing? Any tips

  • E73 is the problem for the ethernet port. If you did the towel trick, you probably fucked your 360. It needs a bga reflow and x clamp fix so it wont happen again. Overheating your 360 works for a small period of time

  • hi mate, i done everything on ur video nd it went all good untill the end, i turned it on nd off like 20 times nd nothing happened...is there a different way i should be doing it or do u hav any other ideas what i can do next?

  • why did you take the cover apart?

  • Fixed!

    Cheers matey!!

  • LOL i know ur GT

  • someone please help me! my xbox is apart but when i turn it on i get e73 then my fan goes crazy and spins REALLY fast and its really loud it sounds like a pavelow and then it just over heats in like 5 seconds and then turns off please help i have know idea whats wrong! and no i did not do the 12 v mods on the fans

  • @NPGonline DUDE, you weren't supposed to take apart the xbox lawl.

  • @XxWTFMEOWxX yes i know idiot i hot swaped cod waw andut it backtogether (for future modding) im not a noob i know that and it doesnt matter anyways im just gonna buy some heat sink and a new fan easy fix =)

  • @NPGonline haha had the same problem on my 360 took me 3 days to find a good fix. you need to apply the x-clamp fix. and the penny trick. if you don't know what those are google it. If that doesnt work reflow it.

  • @ooofrootloop i just bought all the stuff and did that and still e73 (thats kinda funny how i just did it today and it failed and you just told me to do it lol) but anyways it still gets e73 :( and my fans spin really fast and there really loud its weird please help me :( im gonna throw it out the window soon im so sick of it!!! ive spent like 3 weeks non stop trying to fix it and my warrarenty is gone :C

  • @NPGonline hmm. put you hand on the bottom of the mother board underneath the gpu and cpu. if it gets really hot under one or both of them you may need to lower the heat syncs closer to the motherboard

  • @ooofrootloop dude, you do know what heat sink is right? and its sink not synk its a guie substance and i have already replaced the heat sink and the foam pad things please dont instruct me unless you know what your talking about :P

  • @ooofrootloop oh and btw you would get shocked and die if you did that smart one and my xbox turns off right away in like less then 5 seconds

  • @NPGonline alright first off no need to turn into a little fucking deucher about it, im trying to help you and if you dont want it dont ask . and second i know what a fuckin heat sync is and you couldve added 1 too many washers and that would be the problem . more than likely its error code 0102 am i correct? that means ur gpu is fucked up and needs to be reflowed. and ps. you wont get shocked and die becuz im still fukin standing.

  • @ooofrootloop um no its not because of the washers its because of the solder on the peg things that go threw the motherboard and into the fan well the white connector thing there really losse so that could be it and also idk what error code it is but its E73 thats all i know and i was bassicly calling you a noob because you dont know what heat sink is and btw you spelt it wrong again its heat sink buddy i have some ask somone that sells it or search it and do not reply you are a wast of my time.

  • @NPGonline haha ur fukin stupid dude reflow means to heat up the gpu and cpu with a heat guns and its not the solder on any metal prongs its the solder under the gpu caused from the solder cooling to fast know as cold solder joints and if u were smart youd know how to tell an error code by pressing the controller synchronize button and the disk eject button at the same time

  • @ooofrootloop your such an fucking idiot thats the problem YOU AND YOUR LIFE!!! jk but the prongs ON THE FUCKING FAN ARE FUCKING UP THE FAN BECAUSE THE FUCKING SOLDER ISNT TOUCHING THE FUCKING MOTHERBOARD SO STFU KID DO YOU ACTULLY LISTEN LIKE I SAID DO NOT COMMENT IF YOU DONT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT MOTHERBOARDS FUCKING IDIOT E73 ERROR IS A HARDWARE ERROR NOT A FUCKING E74 KID FUCK LEARN YOUR SHIT PLEASE! AND THEN YOU CAN COMMENT THE SOLDER ISNT TOUCHING THE MOTHERBOARD SIMPLE AS NOW STFU

  • Worked on first attempt thanks

  • It did worry me some that I would be overheating my ELITE console, but the warranty has passed and I don't believe it's worth 100.00 for what may not be more than another quick fix on an old console (no guarantees) maybe 3 months, maybe 6 months...it's all just a-lot of how long and when will it happen again & for 200.00 more you can by the 250gb system at Wallymart. Anyways, the quick fix has worked for now & I am very pleased!!! THANKS DUDE!

  • first mine was e74 but then went to e73 after a 5 month permafix.

i have fixed many of these. but the invert to e73 from e74 is rare.

to be honest. i hate how tuchy they are!!

  • I LOVE YOOOU SOO MUCCHH ;D

  • wow this actually worked and on the first time 2!!! thnx for the vid

  • you are overheating your xbox. you are hurting your xbox further. you are eventually goin to kill your xbox if you do this over and over. this is just a temporary fix, that does permanent damage. REPAIR it. you dont solve a leak in a pipe by filling the pipe with concrete!

please dont kill your xbox. sorry dude, but you already have damaged yours further.

  • This work great, now i can give this to my m8 and he can play on live

  • Hellz yea. I had the e74 but this still worked for me i had to start and restart 4 times.

  • Totally worked for me on the first try. Thanks man =D

  • Idk if this makes a difference but mine doesnt red ring until i plug in the cable that goes to the tv. ive trieed other cables and it still does it so do you have any way to fix it then?

  • @gaineymryan So ur saying if u plug just the power cord into ur xbox it turns on fine but when u plug it in to the tv it gets the red ring of death? this should still work if its the E73 code or the E74 code....

  • @utube6142

yea i got the same problem but this trick works but now i think my xbox may be dead for good

  • @gaineymryan yer i have this same problem soon as i put coloured wires into tv the red light comes on

  • @DANATRINGWOOD nice just done this and it works yippy lol

  • -_- Damn coverbands suck

  • i got the red light on bottom right same as you, but the error code is different e 76 did some research on it and describes it as being the ethernet port, dont know why its a different code. What should i do?

  • @refeerpotthc try this & if it doesn't work try something else.... it usually has the solution on the website.....

  • thanks so much!!!!!!!! i had just bought me an xbox off ebay and this had fixed it! i am so glad there are people like u on here! i subscribed and rated too!

  • @imanacdcfan

oh dude. that sucks. you do realize you are gonna have to buy another one if you use the paperclip-toothpick method. i already had to buy a new one.

    hooray for the new 360.

    hooray for 250 gigs.

    hooray for NO MORE E73!

dont do these methods again when it stops working again.

  • @xXDYLANXx1013 yea but the new slims are worse they get rdot (red dot of death)

  • @sonypsproxxx you are an idiot they are NOT worse at all ive had the slim ever since it came out as my main xbox its been working fine ever since there all just rumors

  • hi my xbox has the red light but nothing comes up on screen i thought it was the cable but it worked on my mates xbox is it the same method or what..

  • @stupidvideos686e not sure what light of urs is blinking try xbox.com they should have pictures to tell u ur code

  • STRAIGHT UP LEGIT SHIT. THIS THING WORKED FOR ME 1ST TRY. IN SIX MINUTES. THIS GUY KNOWS WHAT HES DOIN

  • wow i juss did this and it worked

  • thx dude it fixed my xbox 360 but is this perminit?

  • @AJxx117 it's not perminit you'll have to do it every once in a while

  • yo thanks this really worked 4 me

  • i need advice...

should i get the xbox professionally fixed or should i buy a new one?

the reason being is that the xbox's sticker was ripped already so i only have a few choices and it has problem E73

  • @ricardop56 If you still have the warranty for your xbox just send it in & if they can't get it to work they should give you a new one...

  • @utube6142

my xbox doesn't have warranty anymore and if i send it in they will charge me a lot for a new one or for the repair

  • @ricardop56 Okay then try & find a local electronics business that might help u with ur xbox..... if not this method does work

  • @utube6142

dude i took it to ptr games and they fixed it. im sooo happy :)

  • @ricardop56 yeah its better to do that then do this but if all else fails this is a good way to fix it for free

  • @utube6142 it really does!

  • hey dude you have to do this over and over again each time you play?

  • @suenoshumedos no you don't have to do it every time you play just when it shows up again which can vary depending on how many times you've done it

  • 1:23 is the best watch his hed

  • it worked straight away thnx bro . saves sending away for a week or 2

  • OMFG!!!!!! it worked straight away i didnt even have to keep turning it off and on . Thnx mann

  • @shawryAUS np sometimes you don't, but if that was your first time doing it next time you get it you proabably wont have to turn it on or off at all but there's still a chance

  • not working at all :-( I dont know what to do it only took my xbox a few minuets to overheat and I've unplugged everything and plugged it back in then turned it on and off several times and i really dont want to pay 100 dollars

  • @hamp2055 my xbox is different since i've been doing it & i opened it up (which u don't have to do) but the first time i did it i had to turn it on & off alot.... how many times do u think u did it? after u turn it off wait a few seconds b4 u turn it on.... plz lmk & i'll try & help u as much as i can

  • @hamp2055 I did this fix and it worked for about 2 weeks. Then since i still didnt want to pay for E73, i left my xbox running with the error code message with the fans plugged up for 2 weeks. Eventually i turned it off and on, and i got the E74 code. I caused the E74

  • did exactly what your said and it worked to perfection...first try! thanks bro!

  • did exactly what you said..first try worked to perfection! thanks a lot bro

  • @wils000 np... my gt is RedLeader6142 if u wanna play ;)

  • I tried it it didn't work I tried it like 30 times it still dosent work what should I do?

  • Ok one nice method of getting it to over heat but u get 2-3 minuets before the cpu detects overheated state then shuts concel off the two blinking lights 1 and 3. Second it would be easier to take it apart over heat the gup by putting the fan on top of the cdd drive and cooling the cpu the heat sink on the right while the other gup gets toasty hott and then put back together let sit for 10 mins to cool off and there u go

  • do you put the two pegs of the paper clip in two different fan holes or in one

  • There's two fans, & the two pegs from the first paper clip but in two different holes but make sure the two pegs only block one fan, & the two pegs from the other paper clip only block the other fan. Also if you take it apart you can put them through the other way & make sure there in the right spot. does this help at all?

  • @utube6142 thanks, I have gotten it to overheat but... oddly it only took me like 2-3 minutes? and after restarting it consecutively, (15+ times) still... no dice. I've done the whole process probably like 4 times and I fear my Xbox won't ever be able to come back on I think my warranty has expired not sure (2007 or 2008) yeah. and I don't know if the problem might be tied to improperly placing the pegs into the fans or something else. Honestly I'd prefer not to disassemble the Xbox. Any tips?

  • Well the first time it takes usually alot longer then when you do it after a few times. But if it doesn't work if you turn it off & on for awhile longer then I'll try & find why yours isn't.... but it should.... gl

  • Izarwisa,

When you did it before, did it work? Or did it go straight to the E73 code? Did you turn it off & back on several times like in the video? If it worked after turning it on & off after two red lights even for a short time, then went back to E73, turn it off & on continuously without blocking the fans, if it doesn't work longer after the second time, do it all over again. Also, this method, I've heard, doesn't work on all xbox's, if urs worked b4 should work If you need more help tellme

  • Great vid ty for help. I have a problem with this though because i've done this method alot of the times before and now when i do it the exact same when i turn it back on it might work for a minute then go straight to E73. Got any ideas? :)

  • Hi! great vid, but it can't seem to work on my xbox, the two red lights appear about 3 minutes after I turn it on with the fans blocked, and the console is not so hot. How long did it took yours? was it really hot? Thanks a lot!!!!

  • @quepasaloquito

After you blocked the fans, if you turned it off & on continuously, it should turn on without the E73 code. It took my Xbox about 5 minutes the first time, but my console was opened up, that could have given it some more air so it didn't get the two red lights as fast. It was fairly hot, but the red lights are suppose to keep you from over heating it to where your Xbox will break down. So they are suppose to show up before it gets really hot. If you need further help, lmk
