  • Good to see the BBC giving lots of information to the Argies. Traitors

  • My word Jan Leeming was a babe

  • @andyindublinireland thank you, I was wondering what her name was!

  • My dad served in the Falklands in 1983, in the RN, and many of my friends at the time had father's in the Fleet Air Arm, RMs, and RN during the war. I have such respect for them. Hopefully the Argentinians wont attempt this again.

  • Chest expanding pride of those men which represented the best of Britain. To have to achieve what they did eight thousand miles away is not too short of heroic but more importantly the fact that the civilians on the islands are liberated and free once again. God save the Queen

  • Love your confidence, which I share. Even if they had the capability to attempt invasion, we have too much hardware in place to defend the islands and we can also draw on large numbers of combat-ready troops. New aircraft carriers are being deployed in the S. Atlantic soon so the chances of being taken by surprise are virtually zero. So if it comes to a firefight we will certainly inflict heavy casualties on ANY enemy. They know this, hence the diplomatic charm offensive, which will not succeed

  • UN Decolonisation Committee Resolution - June 2004: "Recalling General Assembly resolutions 1514, 2065, 3160, 31/49, 37/9, 38/12, 39/6, 40/21, 41/40, 42/19 and 43/25, Aware that the maintenance of colonial situations is incompatible with the UN ideal of universal peace, Reiterates that the way to put an end to the special and particular colonial situation is the peaceful and negotiated settlement of the dispute over sovereignty."

  • @111jasy111 so whats your point? Your quote doesnt apply to the Falkland war...

  • @lexsoOr I think the rather muddled point is that Britain holds the Falklands as a colonial power, and that UN anti-colonial resolutions should lead to British withdrawal from its colonial sphere, including the Falklands. Presumably this would be followed by Argentinian political authority over the FI, which, according to the premiss of the argument, would effectively be a new colonial master! It is rather absurd to use an anti-colonial argument in support of a transfer of colonial authority!!

  • @lexsoOr And your point is also correct because Britain does not hold the Falkland Islands as a colony or as a colonial power. The relationship is based on consent and self-determination. The islanders want to remain under British sovereignty, so that is the end of the matter really.

  • @111jasy111 THey get beat in a war so now they want to try a 'peaceful' process? The Argies through option away when they invaded our islands. Never, Nunca - NO FUCKING CHANCE.

  • How stupid are the Argies to take on Great Britain? Silly south American, surrendering peasants.

  • @truckerfromreno CHU-PA-ME-LA

  • @truckerfromreno Haha, very stupid indeed Sir. Even more stupid because they didn't think we would fight. We soon dispelled that notion, and had them running to the UN. Total respect to all the British troops who fought to defend British territory.

  • @1gladdis Well said. Imagine how unhappy the rgies will be whenallthe wrodl's press are reporting on Prince William being deployed to the Falklnd Islands. ha ha

  • @truckerfromreno Haha, very true. They are complaining about it already but these issues are used by Argentinian politicians to dupe their own population and distract them from the poverty they have to endure. Blame the foreigner: it's the oldest trick in the book but that supine bunch of numpties fall for it every time. The Falklands won't be left undefended again so they have had their chance. They can forget about any 'settlement' - the final settlement was in 1982 :)

  • @1gladdis That's very true. What the Argies don't understand is that the British would love to fight a little war over the Falkland Islands every 30 years or so. We love it. I just wish the Argies would get their act together and attempt an invasion. And they can bring their big mate Brazil to the party if they like.

  • @truckerfromreno Sorry, previous comment (see below) was reply to your earlier comment. However boring or predictable, all my comments are variations on the same theme: that the Falklands Islands are British sovereign territory and they should remain British sovereign territory. No concessions should be made to nations with bogus 'historical' claims, and any aggression should be met by fierce resistance and aggression on our part. That just about covers it!

  • now i feel old i had already been accepted for army training and started my basic only 3 weeks after the invasion

  • Yeah takes me back to my days on HMS Plymouth.
