  • This choon this trax this sound .......... always sends me year after year after............

  • Ridiculous album. Every Hip Hop fan should have this among the hard copy collection.

  • I can't believe 'Beats, Rhymes, and Life' was 16 years ago. I bought the CD from Circuit City for 10 dollars, and it had a 3-D CD cover.

  • I hate to hear people talk about how they wont listen to a song because its old. I'm 17 years old and I still bump to Tribe, I hate the music played on the radio today. I tend to listen to things that have a tribe or an old feel to it. Man, kids dont know what their missing they're so caught up in the new shit that all the good stuff was back in the day! I was 2 yrs old when this song was made, damn i wish i had the oppurtunity to experience this kind of music. I still do with pandora but still.

  • fuckin love this track :)

  • This Shit So Sick Q.Tip Killed it!!!

  • Classic

  • song gives me chills

best shit i've heard in a while

  • This was a time when ''HIP HOP'' or simi rap had a point and a purpose, todays stuff is absolute garbage. And iam not saying that cuz iam 33yrs old, its just HIP HOP today is dead to me, and thats sad...

  • This song goes harder then ANYTHING on the radio right now!!!

  • this is so sick, i remeber listening to this when i was on LSD and just thinkin how awesome the production is. Years later i find out its JayDee. Fuckin dope what an awesome trio

  • I will always remember pumping the Tribe in my car cruising Toronto. Pure memories...

  • Yes! When hip-hop had a message and was easy to defend against the haters! Have a beer with me Q-Tip!

  • "So hear me out one time, you got to be yourself.

Cuz if your not yourself, you'll end up by your friggin self."

  • @voyan38 It is the Midnight Maruader tour guide. "A Tribe Called Quest consists of four members: Phife Dog, Ali Shaheed Muhammah, Q-Tip, and Jarobi. A, e, i, o, u, and sometimes y."

  • @TrueHaiku Don't forget J-Dilla who produced this song, "unofficially" he and Q-Tip were the production team "The Ummah" that made all of the later 90's hits. RIP J-DILLA

  • @DiazMillenia Ohhhhh! J-Dilla and QTip made up "The Ummah", ok thanks 4 da schoolin! Neva knew that!!

  • Amazing Song.

  • i bought myself the CD in a "Saturn" (thats the name of the shop) .... the shop customer looked at me like i were outta space . i asked : whats wrong man im just buyin some dope music , is there a problem with ? guess what he answered ... out his mouth crawled this words , slow and slimey : hiphop is dead ! ... stupid mainstream asshole

  • tribe doesnt make bad music. when they get together and make something crappy, they simply dont release it. thats how you become great; they were supposed to put out one more album according to the record deal they originally signed, but i'd rather have one missing from my collection than a piece of crap just sitting there.

  • tribe is real hip hop you can nod your head to not this new school garbage that is out.

  • THIS IS MY FAVORITE TRIBE ALBUM

  • TRIBE IS THE BEST GROUP EVER 4REAL!!!!

  • I will never, ever understand the hate this album got when it came out. It was great back then, and it's great today.

  • @spideymayne I agree. I don't get it either. I've always loved this album. Bought it during senior week, still listening to it today...

  • Yo, I been treadin on this globe man, for 36 joints . . . and this was a moment in hip hop history that's treasured and sorely missed.

  • Whats the song where phife was like, " Open up ya mind and let the thought inside"?????

  • Omg, damn this soo hot. I havent heard this in a long time but when i did . I had to save it, play it twice and play it again for my brorher. He is a big fan.

  • were they also popular in the 1990s?

  • Very nice,dope!!!

  • @graveey I'm glad there's still people out there partyin' on the tribe. When I spin tracks like these 9 out of 10 people won't dig it. The other 10% get's their mind blown though.

I'd wish more people would be open to this kind of music and keep listening even though they don't dig it at first. I'm sure they'll love it over time, because every single time you'll listen to this it get's better. At least that's what happens to me :-)

  • @mcdannygee i totally agree with you people dont kno what good music is

  • @mcdannygee Haha I got this vibe too. When I first heard tribe, or listened to a new song I hadn't previously heard by them, more times than not they'd blow my mind. I'd play them for most of my friends most wouldn't really all that impressed. But every once in a while one of my friends would love em. It's worth it my eyes though, if I can expose more people to ill beats like this is a win in my books

  • @mcdannygee bro if i was at a party and u played any tribe id give u a fat tip

  • @mcdannygee Word bro, im from the UK but love Hip-Hop to the fullest, i think the media just corrupt people with all that bullshit commercial/mainstream shit [to dumb people down]. People need to boogie to this ish..Can tell its a 90's track aswell. People back then werent robots, every group was original ya'no?

  • @h00may841 Real talk playboy, I feel ya, but most of the people u talkin to deaf ears. This generation of hip hop artists was bein born when this shit was fresh and new, so i dont understand how the sound changed, what were they drawin inspiration from? Certainly not this, must of been vanilla ice and hammer: get rich quick gimmicy rap!! Lol

  • Music Like this Never Get Old.Has the years go by it just get better

  • @maccas14 can i go to your parties? ahaha

  • @maccas14 lol. idk if this applies to anyone else, but i'm always inclined to befriend a random person (like even online) when i they're into these old hits! bein young its a little harder to find ppl into this kinda hip hop unfortunately =/ ESPECIALLY in the 'burbs lol.

  • THAT KID IS MAAARVELOUS!

  • dillllllllaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!

  • @ManofManyPasswords i've always wanted to do that man. holla me when it happens haha

  • @ManofManyPasswords will there be free drinks?

  • @enriquegvaldez couldn't have said it better myself.

  • @enriquegvaldez yeah i feel u my brother was a huge tribe fan when this came out i was about 16 and i was serious hip hop head. Nothing like this on the radio now nor will it ever be those days are gone.

  • @enriquegvaldez I LOVE THE SUPPORT YOUR SHOWING FOR HIPHOP BRO. YOU SPOKE REAL AS FUCK, MUCH RESPECT. I BANGED THIS SHIT, AND OTHER CLASSICS, WHEN I WAS IN J,H AND HIGH SCHOOL AT MY HOUSE PARTIES. IT WAS A BANGIN NIGHT EVERY WEEKEND AT MY PLACE!

  • hip hop classic

  • I was two years old when this album came out... you damn skippy i listen to this! The 90's had the best hip hop... i'd rather listen to old school hiphop than to listen to drake and lil wyne!

  • one of the coolest beats ever

  • Revitalize....RevitalTRIBE nigg@ WHAT!?!?

  • Lol Thats really hard

  • Real Talk Real Hip Hop!!!!

  • I went out and a bought the album Beats, Rhymes and Life. I know I know, I could have just torrented the album, but, when for me, when i truly appreciate an art i rather give the artist their well earned money, Plus, you then have a hard copy witch is more bad ass in my opinion :)

  • what an amazing song.true hiphop at it's best, no twats dancing around infront of millions of phoies, just a microphone and some stories

  • 1996. The last year of true Hip Hop...

  • @TheHumanBallsack Nah man.. Hip-hop's still alive. It just lives in the underground where it has to thrive...

  • @Psych0Activist not "it" my friend, hip hop is a "she". Shes the mother....giving us knowledge and helpping us meet other crusaders...man hip hop is a way of life, fuck what the government says...only a few politicans arent actually corrupt...but even for them...their voice is hushed...we gotta help them and help ourselves! They constantly make a lot of world issues on purpose..so they can distract us from rebelling

  • @Letstravelbackintime

Why is it that modern mainstream hip-hop doesn't speak about politics? Old hip-hop was militant in nature. New hip-hop pacifies its listeners with complacancy and idiocy. It promotes low-intellignce, alcoholism, sex (not a bad thing, but it uses sex to make money cause everbody loves sex), materialism, violence, greed, ect. Old shit fostered progressive thinking, and was made simply out of a passion for music, not the money making scheme it is today.

  • @bigex2c Whites came into North America, Canada, New Zealand, Australia, and pillaged, raped and mutilated the indigenous peoples into non-existence. Ask yourself who came into Hip Hop's upper echelons in the mid-90s; if you delve deep enough you will find that the vast majority of rap labels are controlled tacitly by jewish executives. Good example of their dangerous tentacles: The Jewish Defence League almost openly extorted both Eazy E & Tupac throughout '94-'96, provided bodyguards, etc.

  • @TheHumanBallsack ...It's textbook protection racketeering - falsify a threat to the rapper, then provide bodyguards and intel whilst gaining unfettered access to their cash flow, thus extorting their funds. Look past the media bullshit, the mindless garbage on MTV, the usual arguments of "who killed hip hop"...and you will open up a whole smoke-and-mirrors scenario beyond most people's wildest imagination...

  • @Letstravelbackintime ok. then i used to love her.

  • @TheHumanBallsack true dat. after 96-97 that it all went downhil .Pac and Biggie died.Tribe still tried to hang on.Wu tang was at its peak..man so many memories...The Chronic was 92..crazy man how things changed..rap went mainstream but lost its soul somewhere along the line...

  • @TheHumanBallsack - Your so right - The golden period of HipHop Music - 1988 to 1996!

  • i front my shit up on linden in the 192, forever writin never bitin aint shit else to do!

  • I'm sorry but this song will always and forever live the TRUE meaning of rap/hiphop unlike the bullshit that is played in this day and age. Praise Allah.

  • love it. since my album is on another continent, this is much appreciated. Thank you!

  • JDilla4LIFE

  • I shit you not....i heared an advertisement on the radio. MC Hammer is back!! hahahahaha, hella funny.
