The huge Russian bird looks like a monster however it has balance and poise very much like the great ballet dancers Rudolph Nureyev and Wayne Sleep. I saw one of these tippy toeing into BHX some years back, it almost looked like it was wearing tights and a tutu it was that graceful.

That "Russian bird" is really Ukrainian, built in Kiev Ukraine. Antonov's company headquarters and factory have been in Kiev since 1952.

The Russian bird is really Russian. The Antonov bureau was originally founded in Moscow. Then moved to Kiev for security reasons. The production of the AN-124 was at Ulyanovsk facility and they are renewing it... soon more of these will be made.

But Ukraine has been an independent nation since 1991. Antonov Industries has not been a "russian" facility since that time. While this jet may be built under contract at a factory in Russia, how can you consider it to be a "Russian Bird"?

Consider if Boeing built a jet in England, after all the USA was once a British colony. Would that Boeing jet be claimed as a British aircraft or American?
