  • The TC-SST is a new technology created for mitsubishi motors, its an automatic and manual gear box controlled by the ECU, when in manual mode it acts as a full manual gear box but more advanced and better, so stop saying its not a manual gear box cause it is just without the clutch!!!

  • @NitroExplosion88 if the driver can't modulate clutch pressure, it's not manual. See because manual doesn't just mean you select gears manually. You can select gears on a standard automatic too. Allowing the driver to choose gears AND work the clutch is a true manual.

    plus let's get down to brass tacks, automatics and floppy paddles are for pussies. real men drive cars with three pedals.

  • @ramlocaj If you watched Motorsport on TV .You would realise all motorsport cars used dual clutch transmission gear boxes for many years including F-1 championship,World Rallying Championships and so on .All EVO's were and still is base upon Rally sport technology making it 1 of the purist sport cars on the market rite now. Also purist drive both manual and dual clutch transmission sport cars because real drivers care 4 performance,excitement,handlin­g and speed

F1 uses traction control... do you think a purists' car should have that? No. The world of street legal sports cars is different from dedicated racing. You don't know me, you don't know how or what I race, and you clearly don't comprehend the dichotomy between street and track racing, so shut the hell up.

  • @ramlocaj traction control on F-1 cars are controlled by the F-1 drivers meaning it can be adjusted, turn on and off while racing, including normal sport cars.The cars, we buy are not pure sport cars because its just a water down version of hardcore motor-sport cars.manufacturers give consumers sport cars, which can be used on public roads and racing track . Also I did not claim you were a street racer. I just said you are someone, who loves racing in a straight line.

    had a 2008 evo turbo come in the the shop the other day and ounce you get under the hood there is just no room to work on it i mean iv never been a fan if ricers but this car is gorgeous i need something like this i own a 70 chevelle 454 and a 85 k5 blazer 454 and my gas bill is killing me so looking for a car like this for a every day driver!

  • I am a fan of manual transmissions whether it be in a luxury sports sedan, RWD muscle car or AWD turbo compact, it "makes sense". Mitsubishi is a step ahead of the game with their TC-SST though. I test drove this car the other day and this transmission is phenomenal; sequential shifts are smooth and far faster than any human will ever be capable. This is technology you'll find in a Ferrari and you're only paying ~$34,000 for it out the door...It's driver preference, clutch desired? Buy the GSR.

  • soo the transmission for this car is for people without balls? Isn't there some way to incorporate a clutch AND paddle shifters.....and let us choose between a LEGIT manual and the other "manual"

    i complain mainly cause the real manual is only a 5-gear. I've heard many reviews that say highway driving is too loud and needs a 6th gear...but you can get one with a real manual...

  • i think they did a great job with the evo x but i think they kinda lacked the seperation from lancers with evos.....b4 lancers were completely different now the only thing changed is hood, grill and bodykit..........i think the front is awesome but it seems they got bored with the rest of the car and just did whatever with the back end

  • @GGGGGGGTHEBEST7 Well also you gotta remember majority of the internal components are upgraded as the lancer does not have a turbo... So it's not just cosmetic differences.

  • @saab1255 I believe like the Evo it is AWD, but I have noticed driving my Evo in "Off Off" on the AWC the power is not 50/50, it is more of a f/b 40/60 or 30/70.

    I realize this is a four-pot and mostly sounds like a lawn mower but it would still be better than nothing but music and tire squeals.

    I plan to buy a new cam myself in a few years (Honda or something) and I want an accord lx (base w/power everything) but they DON'T OFFER a manual version for that trim...I would have to step up to a coupe EX-L V6 that has manual trans...I DONT want to do that..... :( dammit why cant 4 door sedans be all manual like it once was...

  • Amazing! I have a 2006 Evolution IX SE. This seems just like my baby but newer. lol I certainly wouldnt trade mine for this tho.. I love my IX more than a X.

  • @dilawer321 For one, it still doesnt say leather and how you can tell that it has leather seats is beyond me. Considering the car isnt even a rally car, its a rally inspired street car ( turbo engine, awd, compact) the fact that it has heated recaros really makes no difference. Also the fact that the rear spoiler is gone, the "added weight" of the heated leather seats is pretty much canceled out if you ask me.

  • the evo X doesnt look as good as the evo IX until you see them right next to each other. the grilles on the evo X are much larger and appear more menacing. evo X looks pretty damn good (i.e. Ryan Gates' time attack car). still like the looks of the IX better though, especially the Team Orange comp car.

    should've added a duckbill spoiler instead of that bolt on "rear lip spoiler"

  • The new Evo looks like such a girly economy car. I mean the performance is great but the looks are plain and too subtle, whereas the previous gen was mean looking and purposeful. But it's Mitsubishi so who can really blame them for subpar results everytime.

  • @thenuge88 Driven both over 24 years. The latest autos are way more advanced then what they use to be. There must be a reason why the Mitsubishi engeneers / designers chose a sequential auto. Having said that, we all have our preferences i guess.

    Evo X GSR, friend. The TC-SST get's a lot of the attention for Evo X reviews, but the GSR's manual transmission with clutch is !@#$ hardcore. Especially for making successful, instant launches. It should NEVER be ignored in favor of the Evo X MR with TC-SST, despite it being very effective. I love this car. I own a '09 white GSR. It is very effective for time attacks at the track. It feels like it's one with the ground in twisty roads and mountain passes. Uphill and downhill.

  • I think old evos look so good is because it was pretty much the only japanese legend we got intact. no s15, no true skyline, no 22b, no fto. i would have gone apeshit for any of those.

  • @MrEDAmus989 You do know that the Eclipse GT is the american version of the FTO. (look at the body code) Of course they ruined the car when they changed the engine from 2.0 V6 to 3.8 V6.

  • @MrEDAmus989 2006+ Eclipse GT with the 3.8L V6. The 3.0L Eclipse is based on a Chrysler body. The 3.8L is based on the PS body code which is the same as the FTO from Japan.

    And were faster and had a lower weight. Also, lets not forget that they had a proper manual transmission instead of this crappy SST one. The older 4G63 also had better high RPM torque and power.

    Seeing the 1/4 mile times for the IX MR and the X MR pretty much indicates why higher weight: bad. The X MR is consistently slower by 0.2 to 0.4 seconds.

    I'd rather buy a used IX, to be honest.
