  • I agree, this is very soulful! Love it

  • Love this version!

  • @localpm Thanks, I appreciate it.

  • great great stuff !!

  • Wow, this is wonderful.

  • thanks for sharing mate. I want to buy zomh4, would you please tell me where you place the zomh4 unit?

  • Beautifull !!! Very soothing with occasional "spot hitting" runs. But i would like to hear more of the melody of "georgia on the mind". This is basically just solo on the same chord progression :) anyhow, very nice !

  • beautiful. absolutely beautiful.

  • three people don't like this...?? why do deaf people sit and watch a music piece when they obviously cannot hear it.!

  • can you also do Ray Charles's "Hard times" and "A fool for you" and possibly if you have time "Baby let me hold your hand".....

  • You got soul, Tom!

  • @SergioVellatti Ha! Thanks.

  • Fantastic my friend!

  • Oh, so very, very fine. Thanks for sharing your wonderful talent.

  • You are sooooo smmoooooooovveeeeeeeeee

  • sweet

  • Hi, I'm a beginner 'jazzer' and finding your videos incredibly inspirational, thanks for posting them!

  • @gtrelford Thanks for listening!

  • @7notemode: I don't mind buying it but can you please share the sheet music for this. (Or link to online location) I really like to arrangement and would like to add it to my repertoire. Many thanks. (private email garin @ garintoren. com)

  • @garintoren Sorry, no sheets. Thanks for asking.

  • @7notemode ...Hey Tom, love your style, and precission. Have you ever tried to do "Hymn to freedom", by Oscar Peterson, and I am talking about the B'b version, as the one He did at the "Blue Note", and on the Cd entitled "Night Train". It wold be a great addition to your repertoire, and I think your style. I will look for your addition in the future. Thanks.

  • Beautiful technique and feel! You're a consummate pro.

    G.

  • Very good 7notemode. Very nice.

  • bravo, this is incredible

  • Wow... that was great!

  • Wonderful playing. Very nice. You laid down a nice groove and stuck to it.

  • you sound like Oscar Peterson. just killin stuff man. im going try and try to transcribe your chord work, its so nice!

  • l'écar de ouf dans les doigts lol

  • Fantastic!!!

  • MAKE A TUTORIAL THIS IS AMAZING!

  • brilliant!

  • Unbelievably soulful and rich. Keep playing, please! This is amazing!

  • fantastico, veramente bello

  • An absolute must..for the CD.........fabulous.

  • awsome!!!!

  • Where can i find the sheet music for this rendition of the song?

  • Real nice man, I long to be able to play with that clarity and soulfulness. Are those root,7th,3rd/root,5th,3rd left hand voicings that your using? I find them a bit of a stretch to reach but they sound great when you do use them.

  • Outstading!

  • I can't fathom the two people who gave thumbs down :( This is absolutely amazing "informal" performance that builds up throughout the song, very very nice. I wish I could play this song, in this exact style.

  • Where did you set up the Zoom H4N?

Was it overhead on a boom?

  • @msz16 The Zoom is inside the case, about 15 inches above the strings in the center, just outside of the range of the camera

  • @7notemode how were you able to remove the room noise sir? because i'm having trouble removing mine. Does the room have something to do with it?

  • @7notemode how were you able to remove the room noise sir? because i'm having trouble removing mine. Does the room have something to do with it? the filters are already turned on

  • Im hearing a lot of Billy Taylor, some Bobby Enriquez, with a dab of Brubeck's right hand, and some flares of Otis Spann. Niiiice going man.

  • Very nice!

  • I absolutely love this!

  • Oh. That was good! good! like candy

  • PFFFF mon dieu

  • i have to play georgia on my mind i'm not crazy about jazz but know i understand when my professor tell me that jazz is more expressive than others style of music

i have one months to learn and create a jazz version of georgia

it will be very hard :S

  • @RayCmarco Good luck!

  • Amazing work! I like how you gradually get more immersed in your playing as the song progresses, really helps keep it fresh throughout. You make it look so effortless, keep em coming please!

  • @nebsmusic Thanks, neb!

  • fantastic... :) !!! :D

  • muy bueno

  • Oscar Peterson is smiling! Great rendition....

  • @getsmartlabs Haha, thanks!

  • 2:20! haha sweet man

  • Absolutely beautiful, wish I could sing like you play!

  • my belly is smilin' :)

  • you are a pure naturall where do you get the inspiraton for the chords from cause they are not written on the shilling copy thats impro at its best

  • Thanks pianoman3305! I borrow a lot, and then I work to create my own harmonic vocabulary.

  • After I retired, I came back to my music after fifty years and you are both a joy and a frustration. My original teacher was a student of Lenny Tristano and I started my love of jazz there. You have brought me back, and I appreciate.

Absolute joy to hear you play. I am hoping you do a tutorial on Georgia, I will gladly order it immediately.

    Thank you, sir.

  • I'm glad you back at the piano hotrod1940!

  • bravissimo !! I like very much your left hand

  • You are a wonderful pianist. I actually found this video because i was looking for a good recorder. so thanks for posting that as well :)

  • 7notemode you have some serious soul! Your rendition is a musical treat for the hungry musician. You are one of my inspirations to continually strive for my musical best as a pianist and a musician in general. God Bless you good sir.

  • Thanks!

  • man u are just dynamic i was reading your profile and was just amazed may God bless u, u are amazing on those keys, JT

  • Hahahah,That was absolutely sick! And I just learned the easy "House" version, thinking I was satisfied that I'd learned how to play the tune! Well, this one's next on my list - thanks for it, and I second lgoghettomon's request - definitely a style I want to have under my fingers...the diminished runs are easy to pick out, but some of them are beyond my ear for now. Please teach us!

  • Thanks, man.

  • You have a good sense in music.

    I really like this arrangement!

  • I don't know who Georgia is, but she must be some kind of dame!

  • can i be your apprentice man this is sweet can you do some of your your runs and break it down

  • I'll put it on my list, lgoghettomon. Thanks.

  • THIS`S REAL JAZZ !!

  • Like the ones like these in your videos

  • Do you have any music sheets online? free or for sale?

  • Check out my website. I have a few things available.

  • Very nice feel...I enjoyed this very much. Thanks for sharing. Wondering what recording set-up you use to get this clear audio quality?

  • Thanks, newintervals. I am using a Zoom H4n to record.

  • Great sound quality. Did you use your computer for the picture?

  • Canon video cam

  • This video (as do all your videos) still gives me the chills! Magnificent performance!

  • 'just plain vanilla playing instead of performing,'....well i'll vote for a relaxed vanilla anytime, great stuff and thanks !

  • Observations: Noted "mshurricanefans" commented, "I'm not a stalker." If I thought it would improve my playing to one one-thousandth of your capability, I'd happily "stalk." : ) Secondly, positively heartbreaking how deceptively "easy" you make playing appear. Third -- a great moment in this performance...if one pats one's foot (and almost impossible not to do)...you "flip up" stuck C-4 "in time," triplet, I think. Is there ANYTHING that eludes you?? Thanks for your contributions.

  • Haha! That was funny chuck2710.

  • love all your piano videos your a great player.any chance of you doing some john lennon songs sometime,or the beatles tune YESTERDAY.

  • Hmmm, never played it Paul. I don't know. I'll look it up though. Thx.

  • YEAH!

I'm trying to learn this song now after 10 years of studing piano and 5 years of stop playing!

  • Oh yeah, play that piano dude.

You're really putting much feeling into this.

    Music is Sex.

  • Tom: Fantastic:there's really no one better on the internet.Your technique and virtuosity in different genres is really remarkable.

  • Thanks, jimbomed!

  • As always, very beautiful!!! you post the best jazz improvization on YT. I like your style, technique and of course the harmony :) Looking forward to new posts. Good luck

  • Amazing

  • Is this all improv?

  • Thx and yes.

  • BEAUTIFUL!

  • Good stuff.

  • i'm not a stalker, but all of your performances are amazing. very very nice :)

  • Laid back, bluesy and still swinging cooly- very nice! If this is vanilla, alot of us would like to know where you get those beans!

  • I didn't think anyone read the descriptions, anyway. Shows what I know. :-)

  • @klavier1us

Klave, you surely asked it perfectly! I'm cracking up still. Great performance! Worth four beans!

  • Very soulful! Inspiring.

  • very very very BEAUTIFUL

  • This is the only song which ends with majestic desqueezing of the C4 key :-)

I was stunned with amalgamation of that furious runs in the mid part and vanilla flow (are you sure it isn't vanillin? Noone can trust spice&herbs merchants today :-) )

    Thx, Michal (CZ)

  • Wonderful job. I really have enjoyed.

  • Like ever... a great performance !!!!

Congrats man !! I loved everythink, but when you UP the C after last chord, F 7-9 -11# -13etc,etc,etc... show big love for your piano !!

    Amazing !!

    Hug from Brazilian fan,

    Jeff Sabbag

  • Haha! Jeff.. The note stuck and I avoided it for most of the song! Time to call the piano tech (again). I love the video of you and your Dad on your home page!

  • Hey,tks for answer ! Honor to me you watch my video ...All my family play the piano and we love Jazz, in my city Curitiba nobody knows the Jazz ,but me, my bros & Dad try to play the most important music in the planet !!! Tks for all lessons and sorry for my poor English.

    All the best...keep playing amazing

  • Amazing!

What is that ascending run you do at 4:54 and the descending run you do subsequently?

  • Thanks tray2100. It's ADF repeating ascending, a Dmin chord, and FECA descending played over a Dm7 chord

  • Wonderful playing Tom. Great video and audio quality - and of course your playing (again) is brilliant.

  • Thanks a million, Doug.

  • Great, thanks! Always loved that tune (hard to get out of your mind too, once it's in). Now I think I'll create my own version, since you inspired me to start playing the song again. :-)

  • Thank you for these wonderful 6 1/2 minutes.

  • Great comment! Thank you, sshawnuff!

  • this is perfect man!

  • 5*

    ..........

  • Inspiring!

'vanilla paying'?! why not always vanilling? :-)

    I love the tune.

You know the old Steve Winwood version?

Or the ultra-solw version by Ray Charles with organ and much flute?

I have to do this song also one day here.

Wish you a wonderful music year and the best for you

    Sam

  • Hey, Sam. Thx!

The Ray Charles version is my favorite.

  • VERY NICE!

  • very nice. lovely feel and expression. if this is your vanilla, rocky road must be something else lol. your modesty aside, wonderful playing. next time at least bump up the description to a vanilla bean or something though :).

  • Happy New Year, Terry! and Thanks.

  • give me lessons!! :)

  • Always wanted to learn jazz piano for myself -- maybe one day I can play half as well as you :) Keep posting

  • Wow. Awesome.

  • You're a master.

  • Just one word....

    WOW

  • Really great feel on this as well as great expression while staying in total control of dynamics and maintaining exceptional pulse. Mixing all those wonderful bluesy lines with arpeggios and glisses - terrific. Great post 7NM.

  • Ouch! I need bigger hands. I'm looking at that b-minor 10th stretch where your 2nd finger is playing a minor 7th on the note (A) I think. Nice playin' man!

  • I've been playing all your old vids for so long, I've just about worn them out! Thanks for a new post. As always, it is a joy to listen and watch you bring the songs to life.
