@vincef329 If you do not soak the plank it will be reduced to ashes in the BBQ. As you can see in the vid there is the required smoke (not steam) coming from the plank. Truth is I should have soaked the plank for this vid for at least an hour as it did catch fire on the edges, which normally when I make this that does not happen.

A salmon steak can be sliced to a desired thickness and once prepared the way I do is uniform in that thickness throughout. Also I have found that the price per pound can be lower as a steak than a boneless filet.
Very nice technique with the salmon steak; rolling. Question, since wet wood does not smoke (it steams), why soak the plank at all?

Really nice, thanks for making this :) I like to use some spices and drizzle honey on top of the salmon, but this looks awesome.
