i grew up in the 60s, listening to buffalo springfield, beatles, stones, animals, cream, all the motown stuff, creedence, doors, airplane, dylan, simon and garfunkel. i assumed music would always be that good or get even better.
Insanely fucking good. I almost wondered if it was the studio cut and the were lip syncing, but I don't think so.. I think they were just THAT good. Stills, aside from his awesome musicianship had one of the best voices ever.
@PeterJ- it also appears that the comprehension of the 'Director' is flawed as well. No clue of what's important when 'filming' a live band (e.g. lead breaks. etc). They still do this stupid practice today. A good director gets it.
@zip00zap@zip00zap What makes you say this? Stills's songwriting, musicianship, soulful voice -- both rough and sweet -- have been lauded for decades. Take a closer look at music journalism to see the broad appreciation. Saw him live in the late 80's ... he was drunk ... made for a so-so concert, but still loved him at his best. Read this:
On Bill DeYoung's blog, read: "Stephen Stills: As I Come of Age"
I think the band tracks are recorded, but Stills is actually live. Either way- amazing song writing with such amazing emotional depth and a brilliant performance.
this is one of the best mergers of electric and acoustic guitars ever.this audience experienced music from the san francisco sound.they were clueless.
Great performance and video...straight to my fav's. Thanks for uploading!

I think Stills and Young playing together at this time helped make them both the excellent guitarists they turn ed out to be

Stills has always been under rated!!!!!
When he dies, you will see all the tributes to him.....THAT IS going to be a SHAME!!!
Trust me...It will happen!!!!

@PeterJThaggard Nope, just a lot of intellectuals and old beatniks being cool is all. They're lovin it.

@PeterJThaggard Yeah....not the sort of thing you could dance to. Music was rapidly becoming a listening sport at the time.
