    Thankies!

  • Haha Awesome! My birthday is April 11th Tis a lucky day! One day I hope to be fluent in Japanese! I'm taking it at University next year! Watching Anime helps with the accent and the Maori vowel sound are the same! (I'm from New Zealand) Your videos are neat! Awesome humour! ^_^
  • Your art work is actually very good, your concepts are strong and too many people that know nothing about art are too used to seeing polished pieces and so their comments are meaningless.

  • @heilong79 That actually puzzled me at first, i was struggling with the idea that it was just satire, but then considering that it wasn't brought out something completely different in the pictures.

  • lol funny "no image available" 2:04

  • hahaha i see your point! Nice art mixed with humor! Go Ken ^_^!

  • Great video! I am a fan!

  • Thanks, cippergut, but I didn't quite understand. Which piece did you want to buy?

  • Needs more Remi.

    ;-)

  • Second that.

  • This whole series of Ken Tanaka videos is highly entertaining. If anyone really believes that he's looking for his lost parents...............

I'm looking forward to his next video.

  • Ken Tanaka... is a character that was made by David Ury who was raised in Sonoma, California and began his acting career on Japanese television as the "zany Japanese speaking foreigner". David learned to speak Japaense fluently while at college in Tokyo and currently translates and writes English adaptations for Japanese comics (manga). He is 100% American.

  • Blasphemy!! I've met them together, and I can tell you they don't seem particularly fond of each other, or maybe it's mostly David who doesn't seem to care for Ken much, but Ken is certainly a good soul. A genuine mensch.

  • Sure, sure. I believe you.... and I met Mickey and Minni once (in Tokyo Disneyland) they were fond of each other though.... they were good "souls"

  • Good try David Ury... you are no Andy Kaufman. This is not an original idea... to fake a pseudo character, and try to convince people you are two different people. Funny... though. Entertaining, but a bit weird. Would be better if you just did the character without the horrible (insulting) accent. Be nice to see you just be yourself (funny, fluent in Japanese, etc) Like Dave Spector デーブ・スペクター

  • Excuse me, but... are you real?

You're the most interesting person I've ever seen.

  • You got the name from 'Japanese for Busy People' ne? Lesson 1: Introductions. Mr. Hayashi introduces Mr. Smith to Mr. Tanaka.

  • Heroes? :o

  • That's what my friend said. I missed that episode.

  • nbc . com :)

  • Ken was on Heroes tonight. Didn't sound too Japanese :)

  • Hi, hollowmedia. It sounds like you saw my twin brother David. You can meet him in videos 13,28 and 48. He is very handsome.

  • @helpmefindparents

Does he have big american penis?

  • @hollowmedia He also was an extra on an episode of Bones lol There is no real ken his real name is David Ury :)

  • Ken, I couldn't help but notice you were wearing an Arkansas Razorback's hoodie. Are you a Hog's fan??

  • this is great! :D congratulations ken, i wish u the best of luck

  • That's awesome news! :) congrats.

  • 11 more days!

  • 7 more days? I can't remember what sleep tastes like.

  • Too far, come do it in Fukuoka!

  • I would like to do a show in Japan when this is over maybe. I'll have to buy some new crayons though. Maybe I'll do it in Dazaifu:)

  • OoOoOoH Dazaifu. That's definitely close enough to make the commute. (Although Kurume would be ~ultimate~. Unfortunately there's nothing in Kurume except ME and old people.)

  • anytime ken!

  • This is awesome! I'll see if I can fly out for the opening from Chicago. Do you know if the other artists will be there too? Does it cost anything to attend the opening?

  • Hi, skeptik. The show is free. Some of the artists will be there. I think Remi is coming, The Gooch, Mari Araki, and some other special guests from my videos. Hope to see you there. Let me know if you are coming :)

  • Thanks, Ken. I'll be there. I'm looking forward to the show, the opportunity to meet you & the other artists, and my first trip to LA!.PM me if you need any help or anything.

  • Wow, skeptik. Are you really coming all the way from Chicago? I'd better work extra hard to make sure my show is worth it.

  • He is a hopeful giraffe:)

  • Wow! How exciting! I'm always surprised by the ways Ken Tanaka networks and meets people. I hadn't considered the Jacob the groundsquirrel series as serious legitimate art, but now that we've reviewed Tanaka's portfolio, he has a really nice distinctive style.

  • Thanks, Noobsauce, Jacob is actually a rabbit,.....Jacob the ground squirrel is a real squirrel who appears in the Washington DC video. They are both rodents though:)

  • ウォー!すごいじゃん、Kenさん。You are going to be at the opening? Screen printing is lots of fun! I would love to see 浮世絵 and 版画 by you too!

  • Wow you built a great little work space there.

  • Thanks, garymusgrave-san. You should see the sink.

  • I like your stuff, especially the geese--it's funny and ironic, but also has some kind of sentimental, humanistic quality that is really appealing and thought-inducing. ganbare, ken tanaka! and do some episodes in nyc!

  • Thanks. I hope to go to NYC some day. Maybe I will meet some geese there.

  • What up Karaoke Steve? Decent career.

  • Ken I'd love to come to the opening reception if its open to the general public. I live in Orange County and its not a far drive at all for me to make it up there to see your art. Your stuff makes me smile.

  • Yes, the opening is 7-10pm on April 11th. The gallery will be open regular hours after that till may 2nd. Check the link in the info box for more details.
