  • As an X owner of a stock 05 LS2 M6 GTO.Best I did was 12.97@109MPH which was faster than 95% of other Goats I ran both A4 and M6.Unfortunately I hung around with 5 GN nuts and I was usually slower by at least a second(10 car lengths). If I saw a 1.37 60' pop up by a GN, I was usually off the gas by the 330' mark. Why fuckin bother continuing was my modo LOL. GTO's, especially the manual are a bitch to get below 2.0-1.9 60'. Even with a DR a 1.89 was a perfect launch for me. Too much wheel hop

  • Grand National surfed on air for a couple of seconds lol

  • Grand national is a beast

  • Terrible start in the GTO

  • cool video, i bought my car from the dealer right at the end of that shitty ass road leading up to island dragway in great meadows.

i've been wanting to go up there since i got it almost a year ago but never really had the time..

  • never was a fan of the newer gto

  • GN looks just plain evil launching out of the smoke.

  • I have an 05 GTO and ive been wanting a GN for awhile now haha soon i hope i can have both

  • How is the GN so damn fast ??? Speedy box wins again

  • I was going to buy an LS2 GTO. I spent the down payment money on a 1987 Grand National that wasn't running. I got help getting it going from the local Buick club. Smartest decision I ever made! This thing hauls so much ass and was getting me thumbs up from strangers before I even installed bumper fillers. I love turbo Buicks.

  • /watch?v=QVbuu2qI7Kg

  • Danm Gto didnt stand a chance

  • Driver Mod in the GTO. Drag Radials and you manage a fucking 13.8. Thats fucking pathetic. A slap in the face to all GTO owners! Stock I've seen 13.28 from the LS2

  • The Buick GN had only one purpose that it was built for, kill the Vette!

  • nice GN

  • @adokenk3nnbasil - thanks. I sold it last year. I miss it sometimes...but other times I'm reminded of how hard it was doing things on only 6 cylinders.

  • @boost4fun ohh truu truu...

lot of work was put into dat car and stuff...

i would miss 2 but yee its done its job..

  • @boost4fun Did you get something with a V8 instead?

  • @pwnapoluzastudios Yes, I got an '02 Trans Am. Not to race, though. I haven't really been to the track since I sold the GN. The TA's rear and clutch are too fragile to effectively race it regularly. I may beef it up some day, but for now it's just a fun car to own.

  • @boost4fun Sounds good, I have a '94 Firebird Formula myself, they're fun cars to drive

  • @pwnapoluzastudios My dad has a '99 SS and my brother has an '01 SS (after having sold his '02 WS6 TA). It's hard to resist the simplicity and power of a small block Chevy. I have an LT1 in my '94 Fleetwood limo. Was thinking about hot-rodding that just for shock value, but it's stock for now.

  • @boost4fun Yeah I agree completely man, my '94 has an LT1 as well, there's a lot of stuff I want to do to it as well.

  • Grand Nationals are the KING of drag racing :)

  • man, I can not seem to keep from freaking out from watching this video!

  • Yeah gto boy was shifting way to early

  • @MrButterflyking

So you think shifting later would have helped? I think not.

  • @boost4fun Are you kidding? You can hear and see it, im not saying he would have won but i am saying he could have ran better..

  • @boost4fun better time, yes. ftw? not a chance.

  • @marcomariaz26 a better time is for the win. Not sure what else really matters.

  • @boost4fun Doing your best?? Knowing you gave it your all and improved your performance over last time?? If you think 'the win' is everything, I truly feel sorry for you - you either don't deal with disappointment well, or are a delusional person who cannot admit their own short comings and possibly you need some mental health help...

  • @marcomariaz26 wow. You performed a complete psychoanalysis based on twisting a single sentence response to your nonsensical statement totally out of context. Brilliant. Again, in this video I won - this is the context in which you made your statement and to which I responded. Based on what you see in the video, how is that not "ftw"?

  • @MrButterflyking You know very little about racing. Who knows what gear he even has. There was no catcing that GN...

  • nice win Nelly!

  • @buddiiee +5 psi isnt stock though xD

  • makes me really want to restore my GN ('87 GN with 144k miles grandma gave to me after it was sitting for 10 years) now i need to do a whole shit load of work to it

  • you jerk! that wasn't fair! lol! nice video

  • the GTO sounded better lol... but that's about all.

  • the only car i'd own with a buick name tag on it. buick made one hella of a v6

  • @SVTCO What about the 1970-72 GS or GSX? Those stock were bad ass. With the Stage 1 package, well they were just unbeatable.

  • @matthewt2010 yeah the "GSX was a torque factory =)

  • the grand national gnx hits 0-60 in 4.7 sec. that's the exact same time as the 2010 camaro ss! and 0.2 sec faster than the mustang gt. imagine how beastly this car was in its prime... this car owned the 80's!

  • what did the gto driver fall asleep

  • thats a sick vid and sicker music. whats that song?

  • Thanks! That's "Freaking out" by Adema.

  • The GTO got raped by a v6... LOL.

  • turbo v6 m8. and I almost want to say the gto had a bad start. almost.

    Thanks boost4fun!

  • so much arguing,if one person says they have a gn then whos to say they dont? i have 2 trucks,is somebody gonna come on here and say i dont? stop with the bickering, you sound like a buncha prepubecent girls on here

  • @alakazam2929 theres noway u have two trucks! lol but i will admit that when i bought mine from a man in north carolina it was 12000 i had to get 4000 from my granddad to pay for it and it needed alot of restoration work. And it was just a grand national not a gnx. but i see what your saying u guys argue too much

  • whatever the facts are on these two cars. the GN is beautiful

  • GNX's had ladder bar that kept traction to the rear tires during hard acceleration. Cool feature on a badass fucking car.

  • I love the sound of the turbo and the look of the GNs

but that LS series engine sounds SICK along with the stick shift opion and the comfort and awesome driving of the GTO make it that much of a better car

  • the gnx or just stock grand national is faster but its not horsepower that gets you down the track its torque. but props to the vehicle i own an 85 t-type in restoration

  • A stock GNX would waste a stock gto. It has more torque, about same power, and a hell of a lot less weight. average quarter times were 13.3 @ 103ish back in '87 bone stock

  • Stock GNX only has 270 hp buddy. GTOs have around 350-425 hp depending on which motor. GNX is fast even if it weighs almost 4gs, and only has 270 hp. It was the fastest production car in 1987 and was discontinued due to the fact that it was able to beat the vettes of the same year and the vettes were suppose to be the fastest sports car GM offered.

  • 275hp, and that is underrated. test show more than that at the wheels. more like about 325 at the crank. 0-60 in 4.7, 1/4mi in high 12's, stock.

Knew someone who had an '87, with chip, exhaust, pulleys, intake, tune - ran 11.88.

gto's only have 400 max stock, but the car weighs 3800lbs...

  • yup.. i got a 87... chevy was bitchin that a buick was destroying g.m.'s flagship sports car "corvette" in 85,86,87... instead of bitching they should have done there homework..

  • @cavscoutmp GM did some homework, IE the Typhoon and Cyclone but yea the GN's smoked all and continue to impress even against the new class of muscle cars.

  • yeah just sucks that every time they come out with a car thats worth buying, they quit making it.. IE the typhoon, cyclone, grand national, camaro, firebird-transam, even though they bought it back "camaro"... there was a rumor they were gonna bring back the g.n. in 05-06-07, rumored it was gonna be a twin turbo v-6 w/ a est 400-450 h.p. id liked to have seen it..

  • THey where rated at 270 but if you look at a an old car and driver mag where they tested the GNX it actually put 300WHP. meaning the car has around 330 crank hp

  • @judgementdey auto mush box has close to 20% loss thru the drive train, which meant it was 350 to 360 hp at the fly wheel

  • In 87 it was the QUICKEST production car, not the FASTEST. And main reason it was discontenued was because the Regal went to a FWD platform and the diff wouldnt handle the power. The reason they didnt try to make it work was because it was outperforming the Vette

  • really you've seen McClaren dyno sheets like i have? I know it was rated at 276hp. That was the most GM would allow Buick to rate the GNX because it was destroying the vette. I dont mean to insult you guys but i know a lot more about these cars than u do. most gnx's produced 300-310 to the wheels from ASC. even the average gear head would know it has more than 300 hp just off the trap speed though.....

  • uh ok? I have a GNX myself.

  • Doubt you have a GNX... They are around 80K+

  • ok and? Who said I bought the GNX? it was passed down to me from my dad.

  • ok...

  • no they aren't ? lol you can find one for probably around 30

  • Lol, Actually they are... A excellent condition low milage GN goes for around 20K - 30K... GNX's go for around 50K-90K depending on milage condition ect, Look up some prices...

  • 80k+ where do you get your information at?????? you can get them way cheaper than that.

  • What are you talking about, You can find them from 50 - 80K like I said before, It all depends on Milage ect.... Look around at the value of one...

  • @Breze84 HATER

  • @betito1288 Dont think im a hater bud, I own both a GTO and a 87 GN....

  • im sure you do

  • you have no idea what you are talking about so please research your facts, then come back with a legit answer. :)

  • the gnz was low in hp even turboed but the torque was ungodly not to mention the mythical way it hooked up on track it was high 12s low 13 on average it was beating the vettes badly and they had the 5.7s and was trying to break on the super car scene of the era. both cars get my respect but even todays tech has hard time competeing with the gn or gnx. the gt 500 with 500 hp even falls short to the gnx with 270 or so hp on the quarer

  • phew! crazy, i love it!

  • a stock GTO vs a stock GNX would be a joke. love the GNX but it would get its ass handed to itself on a platter

  • The GNX ran mid-low 13s stock. It would be a driver's race. But, we're not talking about stock cars, or a GNX. Mine's a GN. Good luck finding a stock GN these days.

  • my brother found one not to long ago. real 87 hard top. all stock. 50k miles. 5 grand. rescued from a bad owner =P

  • @boost4fun I've got a stock GN with 20k miles on it.

  • @boost4fun

thats not bad for a car built in the late 80s thou

  • fuck that your a dumb cunt...those turbo buicks smoke anything...trust me i own several!!

  • hahahaha don`t think so imadrunkenfool11 the GN would still OWN

  • i dont think so man, if your going stock for stock it would be wicked close the gtos cant hook for shit and ive seen them run anyware from low 14s to mid 13s. it would no doubt have the higher trap speed for sure

  • are u retarded a gnx is faster than a dumb shit gto

  • im sorry i would have to raise the RED BLUUSHIT Flag on that statment.

  • i'm sorry you dont understand that a stock GTO makes a lot more power than a stock GNX with curb weights being relatively close. its a no brainer. before u get ill I personally love the GNX and dont care at all for the GTO' looks at all. stock against stock tho is like comparing a stock 93 LT1 Vet to a 93 ZR-1 Vet. anyway my Top fuel dragster owns everything on here so. kiddin , take a valium sheesh

  • This isnt a GNX, its a Grand National, and GTOs weight about 400-500 pounds more then a GN. GNs runs low 14s, high 13s, GNX does low 13s to 13 secs flat. And there was never a " 93 ZR-1 Vet ". GNs and GNXs are faster then they look and only has from 200 to 250 whp between the two. Thats relatively fast, GTOs arent even comparable to those cars. In my opinion, the modern GTOs was a waste of a car. They should bring back the GNs.

  • @imadrunkenfooL11 no it wouldn't the gnx is just a faster car... 20 years old and it still owns every muscle car made today. 0-60 time is 4.6 2010 ss camarro 0-60 time 4.8. that says alot

  • 13.8 out of a GTO. Driver sucks. You can get a 12.99 out of that car no problem bone stock.

  • Which still would have put him a full second behind.

  • not what ive saw! 13.8 is more the norm!

  • @dustmundo 12.9? Keep dreaming.

  • @Calbenmike 12.9 is what a stock '02 Trans Am will do with the LS1, the GTO's LS1 had a little more power but was slightly slower....the GTO's LS2 is 400hp stock, but I dont know what the 1/4 mile time is for one, but I could see it doing a 12.9

  • @dustmundo LOL since when?? My GTO is mid 13s with the 6 liter! I wish it would do high 12s.

  • when i raced an ss camaro it wasnt close in my gto i walked away easy

  • some people cant drive though

  • Am I the only one that notices this Grand National isnt stock? Heavily modded Grand National vs a stock GTO, isnt a fair race.

  • run what you brung homie. it looked to me like a random race anyway, not a real car class. like test and tune

  • It was Street Legal night, so it was a random race. You line up with whoever you line up with, unless you pick the grudge lanes in which case you choose your opponent.

  • Notice the GN's 11.84 mile time. EVOs get 12.5 to 13 mile time.

  • evos do not run that every evo and sti i have seen run 14.0 even modded they are slow and have the overratted jap hp!

  • Modded STIs run 14.0? Must've been a bad driver, cause even a economical SRT-4 does 14s and it doesnt even come close to a STI.

  • This video is just further proof that it's usually best to avoid screwing with anything on Draglites.

  • agreed

  • im a die hard GM fan but the gto's are slow even the LS2's most stock LS1 F-body cars run with them To bad we didnt get a camaro with a LS2 it would have been faster that the 03 cobra

  • They cut back the POWERBAND and tranny gear ratio to reduce emissions, therefore making the car too heavy for it's highly reduced LS motor.(Believe it or not GM used to make some pretty heavy cars!!

  • the ls2 gto would beat a ls1 camaro on the highway, trackwise the ls1 gto, camaro, and ls2 gto are all very close, but in a street race with both skilled drivers the ls2 would come out on top. The gto also has better handling with the fully independent rear suspension. But the suspension and body make the gto a lil heavier which is why the ls1 camaros are close to the same speed. and the 03 cobra barely beats a ls2 gto ive seen like 10 vids of those races on here and theyre usually pretty close.

  • all you did was agree with me, thanks. The weight of the ls2 gto keeps it fom being a good drag car but the higher HP makes it a little faster than the ls1 camaro on top end pulls. the ls1 gto is not as fast as a ls1 camaro in any rpm or speed range. The 03 cobra barly beats the ls1 camaro, a couple tenths diff in the 1/4 a mustang magazine tested the 03 cobra vs 02 ss the ss went 13.0 and the cobra went 12.8. the slow pass for the ss was 13.3 the slow pass for the cobra was 13.2

  • More proof that the new GTO was just an add campaign.

  • what was the 60' time on the GTO? that launch looked really gnarly.

  • I don't know, and I don't have the timeslip anymore. I think he spun off the line, but I'm not sure. My 60' was one of my better - I'm thinking in the 1.6xx range.

  • sounds like he just dumped the clutch so he bogged and hopped (cause the GTO has nasty wheel hop thanks to the IRS...)

    nice GN run though. =)

  • oh than it was very slow

  • It could be very slow for a couple reasons, one bad driver, and two high elevation. If the track is located on a high elevation, the track times would be slower then usual. Stock GTOs should be running close to low 13s and high 12s.

  • ok? GTO still woulda got beat outta the hole. GN on sticky-icky tires vs. not so sticky-icky tires. GTO was asleep at the wheel... ZZZZZzzzzz

  • Huh? Im talking to HKuspDADDY.

  • oh i know... just throwing in my 2 cents. not trying 2 start a fight

  • THE GTO WAS STOCK IT RAN 13.1

  • Not that run. It was a 13.8 @ 99.

  • Oh please! that wasn't a race that was a blitzkrieg!

  • Was there even a question???

  • that GN showed the GTO what's what

  • That GM showed that other GM what was... what?

  • these are my two favorite american cars ever made

  • The new GTO isn't American made...It's an Australian Holden Monaro.

  • might be made there but the ls1/ls2 are very american things

  • It's an American Car.....still my badges says GTO same as the ole muscle ones..

  • no it isn't....the only thing american on or in the new gto is the engine and transmission

  • actually the whole car is american it was made in australia but by the GM branch in australia therfore it is still american made. Nice try tho.

  • no...australian made aussie car...the holden is all aussie...imported by gm as a pontiac.....loaded with the stellar 350 small block.

  • it has a 364 ci small block 04 have 350s

  • V8 pos got pwned by turbo power !!!!!!

  • That Goat got kicked in the nuts and slapped in the face

  • can you say ass raped!!!!!!!!!!

  • GN's are awesome. I have a GTO, but would rather have a GN.

  • The GN tree'd the goat hard...

  • owned!

  • i brought the knife!!! lol kinda funny looking at stuff on youtube and come across your car... not to bad for my first time ever at the track.. and yes earlier that day she trapped a 105 or 106.. just exhaust and cold air

  • That was you? It took you a couple years to find it, but there it is. I knew your car ran faster at different times, but that's the one that Febus caught on film. There's some scary quick turbo GTOs at Island. I'm glad you weren't one of them :-p

  • what wheels are on that GTO, I have TSW's and thats what they look like kinda.

  • who brought the knife to the gun fight, not even fair.

  • i got a 6.0 gto stock it is fast as fuck but you cat compare it to the gn thir just beast

  • no i guess you can't... GN's are legendary. i will hopefully own a GN soon after my car is done, and my goat and turbo buick will sleep together in the garage, peacefully. :D

  • DAMM LOOKS LIKE NO1 CAN BEAT THIS GN...

  • the old gto's kick ass the new ones suck look too much like cavaliers and their not that fast stock

  • im still impressed with the GN's power damn its just a v6. turbo v6's today still cant compete with it. its a shame it wasnt a popular car.

  • They were popular, but that was 21 years ago. They sold all they could make in the last year (1987). They went through a period of time when people didn't understand them. Musclecar enthusiasts tried to like them but the V6 turned them off. They have a small but loyal fan base, though.

  • not many 20 yr olds know abot the power of that buick is what i was trying to say. my dad had one back in 88. he took it to go get a paint job and the painter went joy riding and crashed it. my dad still talks shit about that guy today.

  • interestingly enough i think it's turning out to be the same with the GTO. most people don't like them, didn't sell a whole lot, but like you said with another comment they target the same type of buyer really. both cars rock, imho GN > GTO but that's because guys with grand nationals have been doing it longer so their are plenty of fast ones around. give the GTO a few more years...

  • im allso opinion based tho cause for the last 4 years of my life the buick grand national has been pretty much my dream car but i bought my camaro for 500$... thats proably less then what ppl spent on their tires alone for the gtos if i put how much their cars are worth into my car it wouldnt even be a compatition

  • i spend about that for my camaro. selling it, too. because it's a camaro. have fun with your 17 second 305.

  • oh please! that wasn't even a contest, GTO go home! it's nothing more than a rebadged Austrialian car, GM dropped the ball with that car big time!!

  • you're an idiot. that rebadged australian car has been kicking ass overseas for along time. that poor slob was someone with a stock GTO who obviously doesn't know how to drive his car. there are plenty of GTO's running 10's and 9's. wait a few years and you'll see them plenty faster.

  • haha! yea those GTO's r heavily modified, my Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 and my GN can obliterate any of those jellybean insults to the musclecarlovers of America... please!!!

  • any of them? riight. you have a sub 9 second srt8? i can see you smashing some stock goats, but that's about it. i think your stupidity is an insult to the muscle car lovers of america. and that's 3 words, not one. thanks for not graduating high school.

  • hey asshole! I'm talking about slightly modified or stock cars not some ridiculously over-modified cars that r'nt even street legal...so blow me asswipe the new GTO's need thousands of dollars in upgrades just to break into low 13's end of story...

  • man you are stupid. thousands of dollars in upgrades? my goat ran a 13.0 stock. with a set of longtubes and a good set of drag radials i ran a 12.7 in 80 degree weather. stock auto gto's can run high twelves. there are plenty of street legal gto's in 11's and some in 10's. get a life, you don't deserve a grand national and probably don't even own one, considering you know jack crap about cars.

  • God ur a moron, idiot, and I own an 87 GN with 18K on the clcok and an 06 SRT8 both of wich can mutilate any pathetic jellybean look-a-like gto, that car was the biggest mistake Lutz ever made by authorizing some rebadged Australian car to wear the GTO badge and it was a dismal failure, enough said...like I said blow me asswipe, I'll bee seeing ur dumbass gto disappearin' in my rearview mirror heheh

  • um excuse me sir i work at a drag strip i have yet to see a gto win a race and some of them a fairly well modded the one was gettin beat by a chevy 2500 (not to mention that truck was running low 11's)

  • hahaha sure whatever you say buddy. you must have some crappy goat drivers where you live. i usually win and am stock except for basic intake and exhaust crap. beat rustangs, a ford lightning, a terminator cobra, and a few other ricer cars that aren't worth mentioning. GTO's are decently quick they just suck launching. the only "mistake" gm made was the suspension and rear tires. get some decent drag radials and 9 inch rear wheels and they hook very well.

  • Don't forget to mention that the suspension components out of the higher end Monaro models from AUS can basically bolt right on for not much cash to solve the problem US Goats have with launching, and from what I've seen, the 4AT models don't have problems launching really, just some wheel hop with the 6MT.

  • my uncle just bought the new challenger and stock tht thing is running great and i love me some gm but they messed up big time on the new gto srry its not fast or does it look anything like a sports car its turning into demestic rice

  • the new challenger is a pig. 4100 pounds... sad people are just impressed by looks. gto slow huh? why are you people so incredibly ignorant? my GTO will spank a stock SRT challenger all day.

  • I know of a buick Owner that's running 22 lbs boost, and he admitted he lost alot of races and won alot.this will never end ,that's what I love about Muscle cars of today and the past.....Let's race..............

  • Tell your friend that the fun begins at 30 PSI. Let's face it, the Turbo Regals are now 20+ years old. Even the new Accord is quicker stock vs. stock. But no one cares about stock. The fun part is modifying them. There are GNs that look like they rolled off the showroom floor running low-14s and running 9s. You won't know which one you've line up against until it's too late.

  • At 30 psi for a street car I look for a grenade effect soon..modified cars vs stock, naturally aspirated vs forced induction will never end.Now in germany on the Autobahn I was a witness to a stock 911 turbo pull away from SC Z06 at 168 mph, Now that was too late................

  • GTO didn't stand a chance. I want a Grand National/GNX!

  • Buick, if you want to improve your image and sell to the younger generation, BRING BACK THE GRAND NASH!

  • gns and ttypes are geting expensive now. i mean for the money you can spend on ac lean GN you could put a down payment on new mustang or buy a ls1 car like a f-body or new camaro. lets just face it time isn't kind to these cars alot have been beaten to death and the rest are garrage queens.

  • my sentiments exactly boost4fun!the gnx is one of the things that make me despise the domesticvsimport crap, ever since i was a kid the image of a gnx to me MEANS muscle.it looked like muscle and out muscled the muscle and that 3.8 can handle INSANE amounts of boost stock much like the famous rb26 and 2jze

  • yall r dumb asses come on that grand national would smoke any of ur matchbox cars

  • GN's were mid to high 13second cars a few minor upgrades and it'll beat almost any of 2days cars including the Vette, so much for having it's ass handed to it hehe and I"ve handed more then enough Evo's Stangs and GTO's whipping papers and that's with a turbo upgrade only!

  • 548 gnx were built they are sinister and to find a real gnx willing to run is even harder

  • you sir... are literally an uneducated moron. you need to know your car. the only thing the GNX lacks is handling compared to any car of any age.

  • You are a Dumb Ass Moron probably CEO of the company..GN/GNX was fast and still there times then are respectable today but,I personally handed many GN's walking papers.Todays cars are faster, better built.Buick GN/GNX can't brake or handle worth a Dam..I'm highly educated, and can and will teach you....Let's line'm Up....still not scared.......Never have never will.............

  • dude. single turbo buicks run in the 7's and 8's. and cars today are better built? no car today is better built and is structurally stronger than older cars in general *though the 80's was a terrible decade with aluminum engines and werent perfected yet* mustangs, vettes, evos, supras, camaros, S2000's still can get outrun by this old timer v-6

  • island dragway baby!

    GN's representing NJ

    awesome
