  • Nice video. Shaved for many years but never learnt a 'proper' way to do it.

  • It's aftershave balm first (no alcohol) then cologne, according to a master barber

  • @bAkewelle i can understand why people dont think utting alcohol first then balm isnt good but its jsut my method, it suits me and I kwo it wont suit other people, , might go a week using this order of stuff and see ho that feels

  • Thanks Steve, I enjoy all of your videos but find myself returning to this one as it was the one that gave me the tip about Arko cream (great stuff). Thanks again from a friend across the pond.

  • @JimiJamesIII Im surprised how watery the foam is and how quick it is too....

  • It's nice to see such a simple and direct explanation of traditional shaving. Too many people today seem to want to overcomplicate the process.

You seem to use a very thin lather. I'm not yet brave enough to shave with lather that thin!

    What soap are you using?

  • @wks1978 its Arko stick dead cheap it does lather up better than this though jsut too qucik should have spent more time working it up to a richer mixture,

  • Today...I become a man.

  • LOL Don't use shaving foam because it contains alcohol... but go ahead and apply copious amounts of aftershave and cologne.

  • @GrandMasterKolbasa it is after the shave though not before the shave

apparently or even allegedly the propellent isnt alcohol after all cant be right all the time, whatever works for you thatts what I always say

  • @sfaragher Agreed!

  • You put cologne all over your face? Fail. That's the worst thing you could do to your skin.

  • @ping1200 no the cologne regime is good especially all that rubbing, the cream then bring back all the moisture and life to the skin

  • @ping1200 Says who? If it works for him, which evidently it does, what do you care?

  • I've been wet shaving for 4 years now but had to learn on my own. No offense but you remind me of my granddad in this video. He was a very affable person as well and I imagine his classic shave crash course would've gone somewhat like this. Thanks :)

  • @stfly no offense taken I will probably be someones grandad soon so its good practice for when it haooens

  • Thanks for sharing! Wish someone had shown me that before :P

  • @olmen375 thanks for the feedback

  • Haha, nice tutorial, man! I'll try it.

  • Respond to this video... hope you enjoy it when you try it yourslef its life changing man

  • what about the area above the lip? that's where I have the most problems but these videos don't show how to shave there

  • I will shave for 1st time, needed some tips.

  • @yogithegeek hope my advice helps

  • @sfaragher It did to some extent.

  • Oh, man, almost five minutes! Classic wet shaving takes for-e-ver! Shish

But seriously--well done and keep at.

  • @azpeev thansk you matey

  • Nice style of shaving, quick and effective. I own several razors, all safety, E1 1959 Gillette Fatboy adjustable, Merkur 34C and a Parker 99r. Great razors, I'm currently stuck on Taylor of Old Bond Street Sandalwood shaving cream. I take my time though, I rarely rush it is kind of my little zen time to relax and start the day properly. Learning to shave fast can be a good skill to have though!

  • Nice job. Love your accent. Thumbs up!

  • i rlly want a goatee lol

  • @bengalsrock1000 you can borrow mine weekdays jsut make sure I get it at weekends OL?

  • @sfaragher lol that sounds cool

  • Great video !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • thank u sir

  • @Lionh34r7 thank you for watching and commenting

  • try a soap stick like Arko or a cream in a tube and a brush (badger is best)

  • YOU'RE RIGHT!

I SHOULDN'T USE SHAVING CREAM! Because I always have dry skin with shaving cream... Thank You :D

  • Your RIGHT!

I SHOULDN'T USE SHAVING CREAM SPRAY and I have always dry skin with it!

  • Hey, great video! But how come you used cologne and then aftershave? Arnt they the same thing?

  • @honeypower cologne is mainly alcohol (about 70%) and its rubbed in to close the pores after shave tends to be alcohol plus anyhting else they wish to add, so its used merely as something to leave a pleasant smell

  • @sfaragher exactly the other way around.

a cologne is strictly for scent. a after shave lotion (splash) or balm is for after the shave, to sterikize, calm and moisten the skin.

now the way strengths of scent work, from strongest to weakest is:

    - parfum

    - eau de parfum

    - ea de toilette

    - eau de cologne

    -after shave

  • i dont like any other razors except for the schick extreme disposable because after its so smooth and i used the sensor excel before and it was always irritating. i need to find one of those brushes and the soaps.....

  • @boomy818 soaps and badger brushes available on ebay, I used a a really good disposable the last time i was in turkey, you should try a DB razor and maybe a derby blade or wilkinson sword give it a go you might like it

  • Damn, looks like I'm gonna be learning a LOT from your video(s).

  • Hi. I like your videos. I am glad to see the explanation below on how to mold the Arko sticks into a bowl. Is that a Gillette Tech you are using? Keep up the good work !!

  • @demaro68 its a gillette but I dont know the model looks like its from the 50's or 60's got it out of grooming set froma car boot sale probably the whole lkot was £2

  • i find your videos very entertaning :)

  • @lippuliba thank you very much

  • How did you press your Arko shave stick into the metal bowl so it stays in place?

  • @fairchild86 the Arko sticks from turkey are very soft and its just a a matter of pressing hard with your thumbs until its right into the corners and bottom. Other shaving sticks brands arent as soft and need to be pre softened in a microwave,(not in a metal container and with the silver paper off otherwise your microwave will blow up!) try a low setting for a minute and then a bit more until its pliable, not full power as it will turn to goo. Good luck let me know how you get on.

  • Eat shit, mmkay? I don't understand why you made a video on how to shave properly, yet you didn't shave that piece of shit stubble on your chin?

  • @Kurolchi not sure whether this is criticising me or mmkay whoever that is, please clarify I like to know when I'm being insulted elsewise enjoy the videos and carryon shaving (maybe they shouldmakea carry on film with that title)

  • @sfaragher He is insulting you. A boorish stupid attempt anyway. "M'mkay" is a slang word for okay. Anyhow, great video! I'll have to try this someday. =)

  • ooooooooh u can hear the irritation try a proglide

  • @kantelier too expensive all these new gillettes and wilkinson sword razors are a bit of a rip off

  • @sfaragher u ppl r so ignorant and live in the past a decent fing DE razor 50+ a cartdidge razor is better 9.99 oh n if u know how to takecare of a razor the cartidges last u 6-12 months get good

  • @kantelier what about the $50 gillette spent on developing 5 blade razors which thye are now recouping off you

  • @sfaragher $50 million

  • why do you put cologne on after the shave

  • @crazyanimal187 er I dont why do you think that? its always always always cologne first.......

  • @crazyanimal187 right I thought you said after the aftershave not after the shave,,,,,doh apologies

right cologne closes the pores stops any bleeding and tightens the skin, the moisturiser make the skin soft again....if you dont do it it doesnt feel right.....

  • Hi Sfaragher,

    I have a Q.

Why apply the aftershave after the moisterizer?

Will the moisterizer not mingle with the aftershave?, and stil dry the skin?

I always do it in reverse, first the aftershave then mosterizer.

Maybe have to try, but i am afraid my face will get dry :).

    Regards,

    Kiran

  • @davin2002 the aftershave is not vitalmainly more for the smell, the cologne dries the skin closes the pores etc. then its moisturised,

  • thanx so much

  • I just started using one blade so i go slow but you do it really quick. You're a pro !

  • @Jctotallyrocks you're a poet and you dont even knoww it

  • Will you ever shave your head? That would make an interesting video.

  • @SpeedoJoe it has crossed my mind Maybe a christmas special, off with the beard off with the hair, we should have a vote on it....I suspect you'll voting FOR?

  • How long did it take u to get used to that shaving?

  • @MOVIE5T4R not too long about three months, its consistancy, doing it every day so it becomes second nature mate

  • @sfaragher that was a quick reply! Thanks mate. im getting cuts on my neck while going against the grain. Can you give me any tips pls?

  • @MOVIE5T4R try doing stage two twice, make sure you rub the lather well in the last agaisnt the growth pass, what also happens the skin gradually softens up over time and it'll stop being irritated. percy vere. Also use a feathering technique, ie little short over lapping strokes, I tend to do long ones, feathering takes longer, jsut because I can.

  • @sfaragher thnks alot for your help mate. much appreciated :)

  • Hi there. I'm a teenager (16) and I've not been shaving properly. I started shaving when I was 13, and now I find this video quite interesting. My problem is that I don't like to shave every day because my skin irritates a lot so I only shave every 3 or 4 days. My grandpa gave me the brush, I've been buying the soap and I only use cologne after I'm done. I shave in the shower, and I use a 3 blade razor. So my question is, if I follow exactly what you did here, will my skin not get irritated?

  • @ALex4815162342

keepon following and all with be well

  • @sfaragher dude, i did it!!

I got a nice shave by using a multi blade razor, i did the 3 steps you do and it all went fine, it didn't get irritated and I didn't get cut. Thanks for these videos btw.

  • all you need to do now is to progress to a single blade razor thanks for the feedback much appreciated
