I love everything about this poem, from the performance to her words. But I wanna known her approach. Like the message and I wonder why she states she is confused..? What did you guys get from it?
i don't think its a mockery for youngsters but more like a throwback.. remembering how it feels to be young..its also a progression of memories from her being 8 to the point when she realizes she is no longer young "but I'm scared and I'm sorry and I'm real confused......I act like a fool"
I have mixed feelings about this poem, somebody help me out please. I feel like she's mocking young people for being immature, but in reality, were all immature at some point of our lives, what does she expect? But I love love love her delivery of this poem to death, I'm just not sure how I feel about the meaning.
to me, this poem is about how being young is hard. These are you "glory days," or "the best days of your life," says everyone. But no one realizes just how hard it really is. They look at everything and say "oh, you're so young, it's what you're supposed to do. This is how you're supposed to feel." No one likes to remember just how hard it was to be young.
Yeah, being young sucks. People place responsibilities on you and then automactially wrtite you up for failure. And it IS a scary, confusing place to be.
ur amaizing keep it up and work hard to get better im REALY looking forward to see your next poem. U have a talent that not every 1 has and ur poems are different than others ur special!!!! AND DONT FORGET TO MAKE ANOTHER 1 I WILL BE LOOKING FORWARD TO IT (^_^)
Do you still go to the Green Mill and do open mike on Sunday night? I remember seeing you quite often when I used to...a few years back. Still love your style.
This poem is fantastic and I love the slam poetry style. Somethign about it just rings of truth.
It also makes me happy to see this was performed at the Gift. It shows just a little bit of the amazing work they do there. It's one of my favorite smaller theaters in Chicago.
Heard this poem actually on an "Idiots Guide to Slam Poetry" CD. Amazing talent. My English teacher pressured me to get into Spoken Word and I'm so glad I did. Hope to see you live some day.
this poem started it all for me , I love poetry
