  • Come on,dudes, it´s not all about James. Kirk is a great lead guitarist!

  • James is the creator of riffs and teacher of riffs

Kirk is the learner of the riffs (especially on the some kind of monster riff)

  • @Astr0FayB0y lol

  • 0:57 Is Rob using a pick? O_O

  • james is a good dancer, he should the judas kiss dance live

  • I picked this album up by coincedence the day I stopped drinking. It's great music for that. Rocked out hard. That lasted for about a week.

Funny thing about the album is that it also makes great drinking music. Fucking LOVE THIS SOLO.

  • I fucking love this song !!

  • Haha lead guitarists always struggle with riff I know I do lol

  • James tone sounds so much better than Kirks

  • this song kinda reminds me of damage inc.

  • Any one else notice the main verse riff is just a different tempo fuel's verse riff

  • @pwnzorcush hmm probably.. but i find a huge similarity between My Apocalypse and Holier Than Thou.. or is it just me?

  • @develia agreed, i have played Metallica on the guitar for a while and found out that kirk isnt the most creative soloer and james is the same way with rhythm

  • @pwnzorcush apparently My Apocalypse's riff was written by Kirk, and James went "whoa there's some Exodus in there, some pre-Metallica stuff".. He said that in an interview

  • 09:44 I see, thats what Santa does when it's not Christmas.

  • the video quality is poor, but can I still see that Kirk is becoming bald

  • the judas kiss dance craze lol and what guitar is kirk using at 3:26

  • @metalism2 i believe its an esp kh20, the 20th anniversary kh :)

  • 0:58 : Robert "Ahhh, I have to play bass again..."

  • I love the way the whole group almost resonate with each other, the fact that when they are practicing a certain part, they immediately play together, no start beats, as soon as Lars begins, the others follow as if they where paused xD

  • Followed you from dawn of time, Whispered thoughts into your mind Watched your towers hit the ground Lured your children never found Helped your kings abuse their crown In the heart of feeble man Plant the seed of my own plan The strong and powerful will fall Find a piece of me in ALL INSIDE YOU ALL SO BOW DOWN!!! That part is so fucking awesome! Fuck those that say DM sucks. I´ve listened to M since I was 7 and I like every album! Death Magnetic is fucking awesome!
  • @Streichwurstable you just took the words right out of my mouth. This is the song i listen to everyday on my way to my university, and just today i rewound this part like zillion times because it just gave me the goosebumps.

  • METALCASTER yea .

  • ahahah i love this videos metallica making of musics ahahh XD

  • my favourite time of metallice is from no life till leather ep- death magnetic

  • hahaha Hetfield's dancing...

  • Lars is a badass drummer man fucking love how he drumming ,all the songs from kill em all to death magnetic its fucking amazing

  • @Arnold114 You're right man...Idk where all this Lars Ulrich sucks crap came from...Especially that stupid rumor about him not being able to play double bass...I know there are guys out there with more skill, but Lars is nothing short of a great drummer

  • Yeah James' Flying V Kill 'em All your at the beginning. \m/

  • lars 02:07 lol

  • love this video. it really shoews how pointless the fight between pick or no pick really is. Any bassist should be able to have both on their playing pallet depending on what the song calls for. thankyou rob!

  • That song is freakin sick!!!

  • James is HOT! nuff said

  • I'm going to go out on a limb and say James is the most talented member.

  • @Drummer14all I think James and Rob are both the two best talented, kirk isn't too far behind and lars.... well.... he's lars

  • @Drummer14all let's not forget about cliff, he's not with us anymore but he's still a member

  • @Drummer14all then theres robert and kirk and i personally think that lars is the one with the least talent or something like that...

  • @Drummer14all In my opinion James was always the "core" of Metallica. He's the principal songwriter, the rhythm guitarist, the vocalist, and the founding member along with Lars. Everyone does their part, but without James, there wouldn't be a Metallica.

  • @SuperJayBird1992 well without any of them there wouldnt be metallica actually

  • @Drummer14all definatly

  • @Drummer14all nah,trujillo is by far

  • @soonernation69 nah he doesnt come close to reaching hetfield

  • @956crazyman19 maybe not at songwriting but skill wise hes right there

  • @soonernation69 He writes most of the lyrics.

  • @956crazyman19 dude your missin my point,i think trujillo coud play any of james stuff but i dont see james playing flamenco like that with his fingers , or kirk thats why james told him that he makes them play better because his skill set is beyond their other bass players except maybe cliff damn give the boy a little credit!

  • @soonernation69 so what technical skill doesnt mean shit he plays bass its a whole other instrument if trujillo picked up a guitar and tried to make a riff for a metallica song he wouldnt be able to top james at all james hetfield will always remain above his fellow band mates

  • @956crazyman19 Robert wrote part of All Nightmare Long's riff... on a classical guitar. Sure, it was altered, but the foundation of the riff was written by Trujillo.

  • @AJtheGuitarist38 i know that but that doesnt top any of james riffs does it? and it was altered which means lars and james fucked with it till it sounded good

  • @956crazyman19 Rob's version sounded better than James/Lars' version of it.

  • @AJtheGuitarist38 are you implying that robert trujillo writes better riffs than james hetfield?

  • @956crazyman19 Did I touch a nerve? I said 'riff' not 'riffs.' Rob's version kicks Hetfield's version's ass.

Plus, Jon Schaffer beats both of them.

  • @AJtheGuitarist38 no you didnt hit a nerve but in my opinion james is one of the best rhythm guitarist around and you say some bass player who plays flemenco ok and contributed to acouple of songs i s better lol i love rob as a bassist but i dont think his guitar skills would match up to james and jon shaffer is fucking awesome

  • @Drummer14all James IS Metallica, Metallica IS James

  • @Drummer14all Kirk is the learner

  • @Drummer14all Cliff was/is most talented member

  • @96lolstar cliff has been dead for a long time .... people need to fucking let it go and just fucking love metallica

  • @666Amadio I love Metallica. I'm just saying that Cliff was the most talented member. He learned James classical stuffs

  • surf music = judas kiss cool

  • James is the best

  • James is the best

  • is it true cliff also used a pick when he played the bass guitar in metallica

  • Thumbs up for the James' at 3:05. Awesome vid

  • 3:03 haha he is great :D

  • 9:44 HOLY SHIT ITS GOD !!! :O

  • Best song on a killer CD.

  • God, that riff at the start of the video is so fucking awesome.

  • Lars' tennis playing gave him some Cardio to work with. most drummers'd be dead by now.

  • @oldhacks

Tell that to Gene Hoglan...He's been playing forever, he plays MUCH faster/more technical than Lars, and he's really fat. I don't understand him.

  • kirk hammet is ranked on rolling stone's top 100 guitarists as number 1 but i think he should be number 1. i dare say that he is a better guitarist than jimi hendrix. shit on me all you want

  • @SpartanMartan973 that didn't make sence - you say he's no. 1, but you think he should be no. 1???

  • @1990GuitarLover I think he meant number 11

  • @SpartanMartan973 Jimi Hendrix is pretty overrated

  • @TheTonioXoret that is so true my man!!!

  • Actually James is commonly regarded as the best "right hand" in the business.

  • james was born to play rythem guitar, came of his mothers twat holding a guitar

  • 2:57 DANCE TIME! xD

  • Man how much i would give to be part of Metallica's stuff...id even agree to be the janitor there.

  • @TrueLegend47 HAHA u crack me up! ME TOO ACTUALLY :P

  • 8:10 Punk It Up :D

  • the reason death magnectic distorts is because, if you look at the wavelengths throughout the album using audacity or watever, you can see theyve just boosted the volume and cut the top end off. its hard to explain but compare how a death magnectic song looks on audacity to something off and justice for all and youll see what i mean

  • @thrashmetal4life515 you died when you mother gave birth to you!!!

  • 4:12 i cant hear but i know is awesome.

  • wow, kirk is using a telecaster

  • everybody do the judas dance

  • james dancing is gun as lol thats how metal lovers are suppose to dance lol

  • Their gonna make another 3 Albums and then they Quit.

  • lol james is like the brett favre of rock. except he doesnt need to retire, right fucking now

  • it's always the digidigi's after the dadelea xD James FTW

  • st. anger in my opinion wasn't good at all other than frantic which is just good.

death magnetic brought back my faith in their awesome song writing that i have loved for a looonnnggg time :P

  • @Algastar they are apparantly going into the studios at the end of this year to make a new album, according to rumours i've heard and seen on the internet. I hope it's gonna be as great as Death Magnetic was. It was the first ever Metallica album i owned, even though I have loved Metallica since i was crawling. I was just never an album collector, until 2008.

  • 2:51 !

  • 15 Beiber fans.

  • the only bad thing about this song are the drums. Lets hope that the next album is really well made.

  • @caimanque What's wrong with the drums ? the drumming is good, and the kit isn't bad at all, I don't really like tha sound of the snare, but the reste is fine !

  • @caimanque this is prob their last album unfortunately

  • @Algastar Actually, Metallica are gonna finish their tour, take a break and start writing stuff late 2011. :D

  • @RichieP95 that would be sick, i hope you're right

  • i like this song

  • Is that Rick Rubin? The guy who looks like Santa in his off season?

  • @brybry19871987 It's Cliff Burnstein, from Q Prime Management

  • @IcedEarth426 So where the hell was Rubin during all this stuff? He did produce it right?

  • @brybry19871987 lol...good question. I haven't seen him in any of the videos, but yeah, he did produce it. I do recall an interview with Lars and James where they basically confirmed that he was hardly there...

  • It sounds really weird with different lyrics lol

  • This is so much like my band when we make a song, minus the expensive recording gear and the studio and the kick assness of metallica

  • best song on the album

  • best part is 00:00 - 10:15....

  • 0:07 to 0:29 is the best riff off this album.

  • James dance is awesome ( 2:55 ) :D

  • i like 6:19 - 7:06 james doing absolutely NOTHING, he almost seems like if he were doped of something....

  • 2:58 - 3:13 epic.

  • 10:03 is the stuff of legands

  • lars looks like a bum lol

  • haha i know i wasn't a part of that dispute about what lyrics it was in the part after the verse, cliff says in here, its 'where go I' not 'where do i head' so there is proof

  • James is one of the finest rhythm guitarist ever..

  • @AHMADF93 *Guitarists not just rhythm guitarists.

  • @AHMADF93 And dancer :D

  • @AHMADF93 the judas kiss is one very epic song i love how it was made and recorded

  • @AHMADF93 yes his my Rhythm guitar hero^^

  • Comment removed

  • @AHMADF93 hell yea, between hetfield, mustaine, and scott ian. those are my top 3 rhythm guitarist

  • @rocafella142 dont forget kerry king

  • @ReaperMan67 I don't think Kerry King is that good of a guitarist.... Well i guess his rhythm parts are good but his solos flat out suck along with hannemans

  • @AHMADF93 Absolutely no doubt about it. Best rythm guitar ever while singing... James is god !

  • Do we all remember when Lars set was huge??

    What happened

  • @edward2868 he got old

  • SO POWER WORKMANSHIP..

  • 03:35 A Linda Bandeira Portuguesa...Viva a Portugal e aos Metallicaaaaaaaaaaa

  • 03:35 A Linda Bandeira Portuguesa...Viva a Portugal e aos Metallicaaaaaaaaaaa

  • Awesome

  • @capnkdawg wtf are you insane? double bass would sound right on every fucking metallica song... if lars used it right. ok, on load and reload it wouldn't fit with most of the songs, and that's ok, but some songs like of wolf and man and many others would have been far greater if he was faster and louder with the doble bass

  • overuse of double bass shows lack of skill and intracate abilities cough cough Joey Jordison cough cough

  • and what exactly is "over-use"?

if it sounds good then whats the problem its not like its a constand 4 minutes of 250 bpm bass drumming, thats over use

never hear anyone say "thats too much hi-hat, or too much floor tom"

  • @phantomlord4 no obviously you dont know the foundation of drumming. mindless 4/4 double bass doesnt make a song sound better and it definetly doesnt make you a good drummer look at joey jordison or dave lombardo they're terrible i real drummer doesnt use flash they use restraint to use fills when they really matter in a song to give it some character and make a song come alive and actually be musical instead of sounding mechanical

  • and yeah... drummer has to be relaxed if he's going to play good. look at lars. he's moving his hands like crazy. :D I know drummers who barely move their arms and play better. and lets stop now i am getting bored.

  • @phantomlord4 i dont even understand what you're trying to say.

  • @espChris93 what the fuck have you said????????????????????????????? i thought i knew a little bit of drums, but, geesh, cmon relax. and one more thing i that formal frase what are you trying to say, lars is better than joey or joey is better than lars?

  • @espChris93

You're joking right? Dave Lombardo and Joey Jordison are both amazing drummers. Mindless 4/4 bass doesn't sound good, you're right, but Joey and Dave don't write music like that (save for the Heretic Anthem). Obviously you have no concept of drumming to equate double bass to no talent. It doesn't make you the most talented playing blasts at 210 bpm, but it's no easy feat. Look to guys like Neil Peart, who still use blast beats, but nobody in their right mind can argue their talent.

  • @panterasteel im not arguing the viability of the technique im arguing against the fact that drummers arent creative enough to do anything but overuse those techniques, especially when they really dont fit the music(now im not saying i can decide what fits an artists mood in a song but i can have an opinion) and your right drummers like Peart are great because they have a wealth of variety and originality instead of turning into a caricature of themselves

  • Alll hail James Holly white flying v!!! From whiplash to judass that guitar (for me) is a legend!!!

  • 3:11 is james wearing a deathbat shirt?

  • my fav song on DM along with that was just your life

  • Rob at 01:00 rofl

  • He looks so incredibly bored ;)

  • Those are not les pauls, they're esp ltd....

  • That guitar in the beginning is broken, beat and scarred.

  • LARS PLEASE!!! Use the fucken double bass!!! :(

  • @phantomlord4 he does...all the time

  • Riight, listen to load and reload closer. And OK, he does use it but he's too slow... and it's too quiet. Lars, turn it up and do somethin with those Danish legs you have.

  • @phantomlord4 double bass wouldn't have sounded right with those albums, but he does use double bass all the time and uses it just fine...watch blackened from the nimes dvd

  • overuse of double bass does show lack of skill and joey sucks :D But I'm not talking about overusing the double bass... just using it more and louder. and faster. :D something like Benante or Scott Travis. Get it? I don't mean using it all the time just sometimes when needed... Lars ain't perfect you know that :D all though I agree that Metallica wouldn't be the same without his presence and we can see that in videos when Lombardo replaced Lars but I think that improved Lars would be better :D

  • Guys!! guys!!! did you hear the latest news!?!?

METALLICA IS THE BEST!!! FUCK YEAH!

  • i love james guitar

  • is fucking sick how they make music!

  • he should use that v more instead of the les pauls. theres nothing wrong with the les pauls, its just that the v is more metal :P

  • he uses mostly ESPs (they do have a similar shape to the Les Pauls though)
