Because I think they are silly, in a good way. Wtf is your problem, dear? I can say whatever I want about them and I prefer using terms like 'emo' and 'silly' instead of 'sad' and 'lovely but terribly daft because they broke up'.

Because emo doesn't necessarily mean stupid eyeliner and terrible music. One can say emo and playfully mean something sad or depressing that has nothing to do with the genre 'emo'. This song, 'A day like today' is very melancholic indeed and looking at all those libertines clips while listening to the song is in my opinion very emo = sad.
