58,000 hits on this video? I looked at your other videos here and they're not even close to that number of hits, I wonder why. Never mind I just figured it out.
Really, you did pretty good with your ASL.....I would think since that was 3 years ago you're probably better at it now.
asl student here(looking at others doing the 3 little pigs because that's what i'm doing), who cares what you're wearing, it's for an assignment, not for work!
It was reported on a Deaf dating site named Deafornot dot c om that 500,000 Deaf individuals in the United States claim American Sign Language (ASL) as their primary language.
Ur cute! You did great. And who cares about what shirt your wearing. people shld shut up really. Im deaf n deaf family n all. Your sign language needs some works but thats okay. The video is old i can see. =]
@waldo3610 well, it is extremely important to be professional if you're interested in becoming an interpreter. Solid black, no nail polish, hair tied back, and definitely nothing revealing. Your clients aren't interested in how cute you are; they're interested in whether you're helping them to communicate properly. And in that sort of outfit, clients would not take their interpreter seriously.
@waldo3610 I also don't think it really matters, because this isn't an advanced ASL video, and she's not interested in interpreting. However, it is extremely important to be professional if you're interested in becoming an interpreter. Solid black, no nail polish, hair tied back, and definitely nothing revealing. Your clients aren't interested in how cute you are; they're interested in whether you're helping them to communicate properly.
Your signing is very fluent and very entertaining for my nephews, but after a few minutes it was very hard on the eyes due to your polka dotted t-shirt. But, other than that, great job.
Hey I have the same project, its for my final. I have to do a children's story, I chose 3 little pigs. Im in the process of glossing the story right now. Im hearing. Good job on the story, and Idk y ppl are talking about ur shirt, that has absolutely nothing to do with the story :smh: ... i guess. Good job tho girlie!
Shirt isn't related to the story, but as a rule of thumb, stick with contrasting solids when signing - otherwise, you're asking readers to do the equivalent of reading a hand-written note on plaid paper, or yellow text on white paper...very difficult and tiring on the eyes after a long time.
for a hearing girl trying to sign ASL.. You need to learn more ASL sign so you can do better.
p.s. I agree with some of the comments about your blouse being a distraction. If you going to sign on VBLOGS you need to put on something more appealing.
Suuuure you didn't notice. The only thing that distracted me from what IIIII was watching was your hands kept moving so much. ;-) Motorboat time!!!! Easily the hottest chick I have ever seen doing sign.
I agree that the top is both cute and distracting. I tell my students that they should dress professionally when they plan to post something that may be seen as scholarly...meaning if they are going to put out a video and call it ASL, they should do so as a professional.
As for your signing...not bad. :) I little robotic but it looks like eith er nerves or over-practice.
That was a bit of a harsh way to put it, but yes, if you're going to sign for an audience, you cannot wear distractive clothing. Meaning the low cut shirt really is very disruptive and so are the polka dots. Kudos on a nice body, but be careful and use it when appropriate.
good job but need to keep in mind that polka dots can blur the movement of your hands and a low cut shirt is very distracting. also, make sure to put your hair back because it gets in the way. work on your movements and placement. keep up the signing and i applaud your effort
uh... that was a lame way to slide it in there. lol. im glad you are telling people Jesus loves them but you made it sond boring. put it in all caps or put some exciting exclamation points after it.. you made it sound like *sigh* Jesus loves you...
In the UK, people signing on TV shows always look like they have a bad smell under their nose. It's nice to see someone looking like they are enjoying themselves while signing.
wow good job... very descriptive... more descriptive than mine... i had to keep mine over 4 minutes but under 6 so i couldnt be as descriptive as i wanted to...
.....WOW!......Will you marry me? You did wonderful! I am glad you had posted this you did a wonderful job. Please continue doing ASL I just feel really connected to anyone who knows ASL because communication is so important! btw Im hard of hearing form WA

If you want to be an interpreter, save that shirt for your own time. Cleavage and Polka-dots are both huge mistakes.
Wear a solid color, a dark one...and cover up.
"Build" was a version I've never seen before...
Maybe indicate that the sticks are wood, instead of just signing what looks like a ladder. Keep practicing. Good job.
SignLanguageLaura 1 year ago
I don't want to be an interpreter. This was posted 3 years ago and done on my own time for my intro to sign language class.
And I know ALL about the low cut shirt. Every other comment I get mentions it.
