They all got captured, lol it's in the stage background. They list all the non-included fighters from MvC2 in a parody of a Marvel comic cover. Also they are updating the venue according to the more recently popular games. From what I can recall, there hasn't been a legit Megaman game (that isn't a spinoff universe or console port remake) out for years.

Venom is a choice I definitely don't understand, because he is probably one of the most popular Marvel characters ever.

In the series he's shown to be kind of a physical wimp, always getting jumped by people like VK (who tazers him) or Jean Armstrong (who, despite being quite feminine, manages to take him out).
