he will go on to win all the slams and have a nice up and down career, stars and his balding hair suggests that he will eventually settle down with a tennis legend.. not Martina surely, could be Steffi..
Thanks for the awesome clips! Two generations collide. Do you have the NBC opening to this match where they depict McEnroe as the "Phantom of Centre Court?" I remember it was pretty good and a great way to set up the match.
Interesting, I'm trying to notice when the traditional handshake was replaced by the fist clench or 'jive shake' at the end of matches! Here John McEnroe clearly reaches out to do the jive shake. Looking at matches from 1990 it's less common. He also probably unconsciously opted for it because Agassi is a fellow American, and it has since become standard.
When Andre was 16, Mac praised Andre's return of serve as the best he'd faced. That comment put Andre on the map, initially. So Andre felt compelled to back it up here, I guess. He proved Mac right again. Andre put a blister on his brain.
Darwinism at work. Aassi was a generation better than MacEnroe.

This was my favourite ever Wimbledon. So many great matches, and one of the all-time great finals.

Mc Enroe is the image of a young Charlton Heston
