Absolutely beautifiul flies. I really like them, the profile is great. I will have to try them out, I think I will try to ty and ty some on a hook shank and cut the bend off and put a stinger hook hanging out the back.
What is the lengths do you ty this in, and what size hooks do you use with them?
If I was tying flies with a hook like you described and the shank was an inch long then that would be at least this distance to the single, it's a style I fancy filming and putting on youtube...Happy New Year..
Davie I was recently reading an article about tying flies and I mentioned using a para loop in the tying process. Can you tie a fly using a para loop so as I can learn. I would also like to know how to be able to use ice dub as a wing case to pullover or pull forward on a nymph
I have never tyed a para loop style of fly, I can't promise you I will but I'll look at it and see what I can do...Yes you could use ice dub, just pull out a few strands and then moisten it as this will straighten the fibres so that you can use them for your wing case, you'll have to varnish or bug-bond the cover to hold and protect it...
All the best for the new year davie.i,ve learned loads from your videos and tying techniques.i started of tying wet flies for the west of scotland hill lochs and as i got better instead of buying my salmon flies i started to tie tubes and some of the classic single salmon flies.i never really managed to get on many of the hill lochs this year, but, hopefully,i shall visit the galloway hills a lot more this coming season.again, all the very best davie and lets hope the ayrshire rivers recover and
another lovely fly, and Wolverine is a great name from an awesome Marvel character. Hope you had a good Christmas and that the New Year brings everything you hope for.
I have seen your latest videos and to be honest there's nothing wrong with them at all, your are a very good tyer in which you demonstrate extremely well, and I mean this..well done..
I have tyed a few patterns now in this style and mixing the colours used at the front works really well, the one I tyed in the video it certainly worth having in your box..
