Although I get why the images are so different I would say that this is not a good comparison if you were only showcasing the adapters ability to shallow the DoF however, if your camera has no white balance on it than orange filters could make another argument for getting an adapter.
@Huxleyhere yes if you have a camera with interchangeable lenses, you can have different depths of field, but surely you can't have shallow depth of field like that with an EX1 without an adapter. If you can, please show me how you manage to do that. Cheers!
You said Edilberto Restino? He won 8 Film Festivals as DoP and Director, now I can understand the difference. It is not only the adapter, he does magic.
Shoot35 SGpro adapter and I believe 100mm Nikon still lense. I will soon be putting up the trailer of the feature I shot with this setup (and with Letus one)... Will link to this. Amazing footage.
why don't you do it with the same lighting,same setting in the same position so we can tell what's really make it different? because obviously you didn't do it that way.
@casablancamicasa yeah - gopod idea to show them side by side butwithout showing the exact same shot with the same Depth of Field, it's not much of a comparison.
not really a good comparison as the shot has changed dramatically. Keep lighting the same and subject same length from lens. 35mm adapter really looks good though!
I still don't see why I need an adaptor if my TM900 video camera has shallow DOF using f1.5 and some telephoto. ??

2nd shot was also bigger close up which always looks better anyways

Do you think...maybe...a little color correction could have gotten the same results...?
Just asking.
conewells 1 year ago
@conewells with colour correction you cannot create a more shallow depth of field though

Worst comparison ever!

hey, chrissy. would you happen to also know what music that was in the background?? it's very familiar to me, but i can't quite place it.

Good stuff.

bad comparison!
used in different light conditions, different angles...

Lights were the same, just added a table lamp on background and orange filter on lens. Lens was 100mm prime nikon. Edilberto Restino - DP.

@Chrissybrighton
well, thirst thing i noticed was the hard light on her face in first scene, and soft light in second scene.
thats y i said different conditions. i dont believe that the 35mm adapter did this...
laphold 2 years ago
@Chrissybrighton
oh sorry, maybe ur point was just the soft background, and i started some nonsense :P
laphold 2 years ago
@Chrissybrighton Why put the filter on one shot and not the other, it's a completely different look.

@Chrissybrighton if you are testing a 35 mm adapter, you really wanna keep the other stuff the same...

@Chrissybrighton Does 35 mm adaptor work in dslrs like 7d or 550d?

lighting exactly the same believe it or not. You do presume things without asking me first.
Chrissybrighton 2 years ago
did you do something extra to the one with adapter? like filter or post effect? it looks like the magic bullet effect.
casablancamicasa 2 years ago
I will ask my DP and get back to you. As far as I remember, the only thing we did was stick the tube on.

woww,
and the lighting remained the same for both shots, im presuming?

wasn't comparing the shots - just generally showing the difference between working with and without adapter. thanks
