Aside from stating the obvious like the awesomeness of the song or the sheer godliness of Andy and co., I have to point out how good the sounding here is. They sound "thick" and tight at the same time, a great trio setup!
@AVFC0711 Obviously not the people that listen to him, like you or me, but he's not as well known as other "mainstream" guitar players like Vai or Satriani, and he's just as good (or better...than Vai anyway). I bet he doesn't sell many reccords. Maybe underated is not the word. What I really wanna say is that the guy is a fuckin genious!!!!!!!! Pure talent, tone, melody, and emotion.
@guidines83 Instrumental guitarist is both redundant and inaccurate. Andy's tone is meant to replicate the human voice, but his guitar isn't still technically "singing". Guitar is an instrument, therefore always instrumental.
@KrummyBear Well, that's just correcting for the sake of it.
Instrumental is the word used to describe a rock guitar oriented band band that doesn't have singing on it.
What is "not technically singing" mean anyway? THAT is redundand and inaccurate. He meakes his guitar realy thing, though obviously is not a human voice....
Some people really like to argue over nothing....
I bet you're the kind of person that watches crappy guitar videos so they can say "you suck".
For me Andy is a great connection of old Strat masters (like SRV) with 90's Satch, Vai like Ibanez sounds. Plus he's brilliant technique and innovation in playing gives me a feeling that he plays common stuff, but delivered with new quality. And he's live gig is trully amazing :D
@slanderoushalo It's only your point of view. And I can only give you mine. For me Andy is a new strat master (albums 1997-2006) , SRV is an old strat master (albums 1983-1990) and Hendrix is like very old strat master and man who popularized effects with Strat (albums 1967-70). Buddy Guy and even further Robert Johnson are prehistorical masters of blues. For me Buddy Guy is not to compare because of the tone. All of my opinion in previous message is about distorted-tone Stratocaster. Andy was
@slanderoushalo very influenced by SRV (he wrote a song in memory of SRV) and SRV was totally influenced by Hendrix. This is for my a clear way of developing distorted Strat. I adore Buddy Guy but he never reached out of simple blues patterns, he was just a brilliant Strat blues player, not inventor type of guy that previous 3 guys were/are. That's why I admire Andy, SRV, Hendrix so much - they outrun their era and give a lot of inspiration to followers because of their innovation in tone,
@Nindzo Yeah why is that? I'm baffled every time I hear guys like Timmons, Howe, Metheny, Govan, Gambale and old saxofonists like Coltrane or Parker that people still choose to "listen" to crap like lady gaga or britney spears. I really can't understand that, it;s not even music!!! You can tell me anything but my answer will always be complete and utter confusion. Andy Timmons understands what the late Bill Hicks cried out: "PLAY FROM THE FUCKING HEART!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
the licks at 2:15 are so amazing it sounds so alien-ish.. Do any guitarists here know what scale or mode he is using for that particular part?? Thanks in advance. =]
Usually live recordings don't sound like this. He must be really good if he can play all that in front of a live audience anytime he wants without making mistakes anywhere.
Yeah I believe this is the timmons live dvd, which should be orderable from his website, I own it, but I got it from a friend, great dvd with tons of footage off-stage as well.
Satch proved years ago that you don't need vocals to make great rock music.
Now the baton is in Andy's hands.
This stuff is delicious.

I'm so happy for him, it's a guitarist that I follow since 9 years now.
Finally he's getting recognized throughout the world, one of the most expressive guitarist on the planet, no doubts about this.
When he comes to Italy I follow him on every date in my region. Two times I've talked whit him, sweet person.

I know many guitarists who cant sing worth a fuck. So they'd be much better off keeping their mouths shut. It would ruin the performance.
