Its all about your 60ft times man. I have an 88 Ford Escort Gt. ran a 16.7 @ 80mph. Our 60ft times were the same.. If you get some Drag radials, then you can prolly get down to a 1.9 or 2.0 60ft time, which will get you into the 15's.
bull shit i have a zx2 sr nd it smokes the shit out of the honda civic si.. the things is the engines the honda has a v tec but the ford a has a z tec. now it may be a ford but trust me is mazda. mazda built the engine off the blue prints of a v tec. trust me the if they both were stock the zx2 whould win.
@Dragonsblade07 Wow. First of all It's Zetec, not Z TEC. Secondly It's NOT a Mazda engine... at all. Mazda gear box yes, Mazda chassis mainly. But the engine is from Ford of Europe. Not Mazda whatsoever. Vtec and Zetec are not the same thing. VTEC is a name for Hondas VCT system and Zetec is a name brand for a whole line of Ford engines and not all of them even have any VCT. The ZX2 engine has VCT but only on exhaust cam. Vtec on modern Honda is electronic and has VCT on both cams.
@Dragonsblade07 its not a mazda engine, it is from Ford of Europe. if im not mistaken they have a mazda tranny and chassis but not the engine. and its Zetec. they also respond very well with a turbo ;)
i think your car had to bee running bad or something, my buddy has a 03 zx2, 2.0l zetech, and we walk off on the new civic si with me and him and the 50lbs of audio equipment, its not even the s/r, it has a CAI and a header, with a 4" tip. it pretty much beats any civic with light mods such as the one we have. we are in the process of turboing it now. i cant wait. its gonna stomp the shit out of the import tuner scene, lol. and it has beat the 90's v6 mustangs, and kinda hangs with the new ones.
ZX2's rule, honduh's drool, lol. Sry tho, I love my ZX2, they arn't fast stock, but respond well to mods, and handle great. I'm in the process of turboing my ZX2 at the moment.

Look into the 98-early 99 MTX. They have shorter gear ratios and are a bit stronger than the 99.5-up.

3rd gear in my 99.5 zx2 is the best gear. It accelerates the fastest in that gear for me.
