  • ooops sorry, it's difficult and not diffiult...

  • @mrsuniicorn ok. i just don't like videos that only show der/die/das because people might think that der/die/das is the whole story and then they're surprised and probably more confused when they see words like den/dem/des. that's why i think that learners should see all the articles at the same time. but of course, a native speaker like me doesn't really have an understanding of how diffiult it is to learn all the articles.

  • @Hardy30680 you can't explain der, die, das AND den, dem, des in one video. That's sooo complicated. The normal articles are just der, die, das! and den, dem, des is totally a different story, it's kinda weird, because den, dem, des is something with "4-Fälle", that you may not know in English language.

  • @L0UiSful Well, they have the 4 cases in English. He/him/to him/his ... Nom/Acc/Dat/Gen. But lots of native English speakers don´t know it and that´s why they might have problems with the cases in German. I know that seeing 6 different articles and 4 cases at the same time would be confusing at first, aber lieber ein Ende mit Schrecken als ein Schrecken ohne Ende ;-) I just don´t want learners to think that der/die/das is ALWAYS masc/fem/neut. The 6 articles are kinda flexible.

  • he y kommst du aus deutschland oder amerika oder england ?

  • I know when I learned Spanish and Italian to determine if a word is masculine or feminine you look at the last letters in the word. Can you do that in German?

  • @hsrulw23 Yes, some noun endings show you the gender of a noun. For example: Nouns ending in -ung, -heit, -keit, -schaft and -in are always feminine. There are even more gender hints but also exeptions. I don´t really speak Italian/Spanish but I would say that it´s more difficult to predict German noun genders than Italian/Spanish noun genders.

  • Ich finds ja sehr amüsat :D So als Deutscher xD

  • Spritzer :D Latin ist sehr hart xD ich bin lernen deutsch und es hat helpen :D

  • i dont get it :/ and shut up and stop saying thanks for watching you!!

  • i dont get it :/

  • the child has no penis or vagina, thats how i learnt

  • I think it's a bad idea when you tell learners to learn the nouns together with der/die/das. I say that because the der/die/das can change to den/die/das or dem/der/dem or des/der/des in the singular, same thing for indefinite articles. You should learn the nouns together with masc/fem/neut and then learn all the articles for the different cases.

  • @Hardy30680 Ur right but der/die/das are the basics. So it's pretty good, if you already know which noun belongs to a word. After that you can learn the more difficult parts with dem/des/den and so on. I think it's more important to know the easy structure with der/die/das first ^^

  • Interessant zu sehen, wie Leute sich meine Muttersprache beibringen xD

  • @Chokoboh ja das denke icj mir auch grade deswegen kucke ich mir das schon seid einer halben stunde an xD

  • Das messer is gona mess all ya shit up.

  • That was useful. Thanks.

  • Thank you for your explanations. You are truly adding value to the internet. I am a beginner and have subscribed to your channel. I enjoy your professional yet accessible teaching style.

  • wunderbar

  • Yes! Finally! Someone who knows latin.

I learn latin in school, and I also speak English, French and Bulgaria.

And you are right, the latin language has a really difficult grammar.

  • @SamSamProduction In fact, the latin grammar is the easiest of all cause it is the most regular one.

Really great videos btw Kiwi =)

  • Hey Speedy con Kiwi! I just really want to say thank you for your help!! This is much more fun than reading books or using translators!! Also, this way we are getting the information that is truly used in Germany, not just formalities and such!! I <3 this & You are fabulous!

  • Ha, ich wusste das du Probleme bekommen wirst, wenn du die 4 Kasi erklären willst.Ich meine, das ist fast der ganze Deutsch-Stoff in der vierten Klasse.

Keep on the good work. And you guys keep learning, but i can told you german can be VERY difficult if you want to write a letter or something.

  • d(er) =er

    d(ie) =s(ie)

    da(s)= e(s)

  • Thank god i know spanish, that made my german learning really faster.

  • that doesn't make any sense! In catalan and in spanish there are articles too! But a spoon has always been femenin! And der tish for table! table is femenin! You are a good teacher, though.

  • Bro tip: Also look at the end of the word. Nouns with the same endings usually have the same gender and so the same article:

    Examples: -en (das)

Das Mädchen (the girl), every substantiv form of verbs (das Spielen, das Rauchen, das Klettern), das Becken (the sink), das Eichhörnchen (squirrel)

-st (der): Der Polizist (the policemen), der Masochist (the masochist), der Florist (the florist), der Christ (the christian)

-in (die): die Helferin, die Sängerin, die Gemahlin.

  • Das Sperma, Die Spermien, Der Spermafleck ;D

  • it was great tanxxx..so there is no way to decode..lol...I have a long way to pass

  • atlter die piercings sind scheisse

  • kiwi, i must say u 2 Vielen Dank!!! please more lessons abt german grammar plz!!!

  • hey, kiwi i jst love ur each n every lesson. can u please put some more stuffs abt german grammars like present, past n future tenses.

  • i love you

  • Viele Menschen, die ind Deutschland leben, verwechseln auch nach 10 Jahren noch die Artikel. Zum Beispiel meine Mutter x'D aber das ist nicht schlimm, da es für die Artikel keine genau Regelung gibt. Da muss man eben nach Gefühl gehen ♥

  • @TheLovelika

Bist du total dumm oder nur irgentne Hauptschulbratze?

"da es für die Artikel keine genau Regelung gibt"

Achso, stimmt jeder würfelt sich einfach seine Artikel so zusammen wie es ihm passt!

So viel Dummheit in einem Satz... bitte geh zurück in deinen Keller und Misch dir da deinen Artikelsalat..

  • Good thing the romanian language has a seperate word for each gender.

  • ++hey. i so love your channel.pls keep it up. you do inspire me in my german lesson. why not come to my channel and find out yourself. i d apreciate it. thxxxx

  • hallo ich bin michael und habe die frage wenn ich will sagen church(kirche) welches artikel muss ich nehmen? danke!

  • @michivol its "die" Kirche

  • @harry7v haha habs nich ernst gemeint bin deutscher aber des video is so scheisse :D

  • danke schon.ich mag diese video!!!i appreciate

  • you are wonderful! :) I am Greek and your videos are seriously helpful! :) danke! :)

  • *get at me kiwi, commenting via p.o.s phone

  • hey whats up kiwi?,i started to learn german when i heard mein teil lol by rammstein.i started to say the lyrics over n over silly yes the song is twisted but sounds badass.getvat kiwi later.

  • ภาษาเยอรมันเพื่อเสียงที่สวยงาม แต่ก็ยากจัง

  • There actually is a way to learn most german genders without just knowing.. like most words ending in -el are der (Apfel, Teufel) and most ending in -keit and -heit are die (Freiheit, Moglichkeit) and for the ones that arent, you can just memorize their der, die, or das to fix that.

  • This is confusing though. I'm trying to use Rosetta Stone and it wants me to call a mädchen (girl) a DAS. Shouldn't it be die mädchen and not das mädchen?

  • @636Castle Like Kiwi said... it's not easy! das mädchen is in singular and die mädchen in plural, so it's another case of grammar. I don't speak English well, but i trie my best. ;)

  • Hi, I am a foreigner and I've just began to learn a little bit of German today, I have a question.

You mentioned that the German language has genders for inanimate objects. Does this rule apply to abstract nouns as well? I speak Portuguese, and one example in my language is "a perfilhação", meaning "the affiliation". Will German carry a gender article for "the affiliation" as well?

    Danke

  • @thenosa87 Yes, affiliation means Zugehörigkeit in German and it's feminine, so you use 'die'

  • Das machst du echt gut;)Der, Die,Das(klatsch, klatsch) Der, Die, Das (klatsch klatsch) Wieso, Weshalb, Warum ( klatsch, klatsch) wer das nicht weiß bleib dumm.

Hab ich von der SesamstraßeXD Dise Sendung habe ich als kleines Kind geliebtXD

  • Hi Kiwi, Thanks a lot for the videos you're making as I'm learning a lot. You teach much better than a lot of professionals and I know what I'm saying as I'm a teacher myself for the last 8 years. Thanks again for your work.

  • We invented der/die/das simply to tell foreigners from native speakers ]]:-)

  • @mahakar11 Foreigners can still learn german -.-'

  • kannst du überhaupt richtiges deutsch?

  • I think it's absolutely pathetic that people can't seem to hear the word German without spouting their uneducated bullshit about how Germans are Nazis, for the most part, Germans are a wonderful people who deeply regret what the minority of the Axis (NOT JUST GERMAN YOU MORONS) population did. Aside, German is a beautiful language that is not only incredibly useful in the real world but can also teach you quite a bit about the history of the English language too. Liebe Deutschland!

  • @HWAskiBRAVO Liebe Deutschland!

  • mhm so Kinder comes from kind

    witch means child

    interesting clue Watson

  • Hey Kiwi.

  • Hi Kiwi, what is your educational background as far as language goes?

  • I love the language, and I just want to say that I enjoy listening to your videos for some reason to me they are very calming to listen to.

  • POLTERGEIST!

  • Thanks this helped refresh my head I learned it like half a year ago but great refresher

  • @just3ta no, that is surely not the correct translation. poor, poor guy... did you realize that the only nazi-like person here is you? people with your character traits were the ones that joined the ss. racist, thank god most german people are exactly your opposite.... by the way, who told you this nonsense with "herrenvolk"?!? now go on insulting some more people.

  • @just3ta what is this supposed to mean?!?

  • welche erklärung hast du für "das Mädchen??" :D

  • @zuckerzucker1

Mädchen endet auf -chen und ebnso wie -le ist das eine Verniedlichungsform und die sind alle Neutrum.

Zum Beispiel der Baum - das Bäumchen oder die Gabel - das Gäbelchen.

  • @TheSenselessThing korrekt,du hast mir meine eigene sprache erklärt :D danke :D

  • ok jetzt habe ich viele videos von dir gesehen wo du bekloppter als sonst bist aber jetzt muß ich dir mal was sagen das ist glaube ich das einzigste video was du gemacht hast was normal bzw auch nützlich ist:) dann habe ich nicht gesagt du kannst auch normal sein ich dachte schon fast du wärst auch im real nur so verrückt lol

  • Some people tell me the translation of the women is der Frauen?Which is one is correct die frau or der frauen?kind of confused lol

  • @Am3rIca16 The translation of "the women" is "die Frauen" (plural). "Der Frauen" is a genitiv form. The sentence "These are the women's dresses" means "Dies sind die Kleider der Frauen", for example.

  • @Am3rIca16 its Die Frau (of course:D)

  • @95HPFan Danke! :)

  • @Am3rIca16 it's "Die Frauen"

  • du hast da nen popel an der nase.....

  • nice work, i started using a dvd course rosetta stone, with no explanations of fem masc etc so i went to google translator and figured some of it out myself, but this is great, thanks or danke

  • @harry7v richtig so!

  • Danke fuer die Hilfe. Es tut mir leid, dass so viele Idioten sind hier schriftlich. Ich lerne Deutsch aber kanne ich nicht aussprechen. Deine Video wirklich hilft. Danke!

  • @ibrokeitdidnti das hast du schön gesagt XDDD

  • @MrPcSims2 Vielen Dank ;) Kiwi hilft mir. Ich werde auf Berlin bald besuchen. Und ich wirklich brauche die Hilfe ;)

  • @ibrokeitdidnti alter es heißt Dein Video hilft wirklich nicht anders . Ich sach nur subjekt Prädikat Objekt aber egal ....

  • @ibrokeitdidnti hm wtf

  • Hi, question about something?

  • @ibrokeitdidnti

but you can write it a little. most of it is wrong, but learn again and you got it :)

  • @ibrokeitdidnti

ist zwar ein bisschen falsch aber wenn du weiter lernst kannst du es.

    (use goggle translater ;D)

  • @ibrokeitdidnti u should say "wirklich" instead of "schriftlich". the translation of "literally" to "schriftlich" doesnt make sense in this context ;-)

  • Du machst das voll gut !

Besser kann man das für "Ausländer" nicht erklären ;)

  • Thanks for the German lesson. A very good tip on learning the articles...Just learn the article with the word. Super! It really works.

As for the stupid and vulgar comments, ignore them, German culture is beautiful, it gave us many great minds, art and music. I'm American of German descent, and proud of it. The mid-Twentieth century history, is history now, and was a perversion of Western values by one sick politician.

  • Deutschland hat mehr als 20 Artikel ! xD IN Germany we have more then 20 articles

  • du solltest vlt noch darauf hin weisen dsa alles was auf -heit und -keit endet 'die' als artikel hat

  • Thank you 4 teaching me german..

  • Whats with all these insulting comments? Most here are just trying to learn some German. Thank god the sentiments expressed here are not the common feelings towards others. Just some bored or angry people ranting. So go spew your useless OPINIONS somewhere else and enjoy what you really watched the video for!

  • I am learning german I would like to learn Latin in the future. I am working real hard. I am working on colors such as gleb, rot. I do not get how colors can be plural. Guten tag everyone!

  • @hetnerd The color/adjective thing is quite complicated (I just realized how complicated German really is, you don´t recognize it when you´re a native speaker, lol). If you still need or want to know, tell me. Latin is really hard to learn, too, but keep it up!

  • umm i have only request to you don't stop this effort i am learning very much........... May Allah bless you for this kind Effort

  • If you dont like advert kicl here >0:00<

  • Ich habe einen Kuchen in den Mund. Es schmeckt gut. :O

  • @Nicojo12 xD sound funny :D

  • @WhatTheFreddyTV

Of course it sounds funny.... i still eat the cake.... mhhmmm.......... i think you're slobbering right now. lol :P

  • I Like Der Video

  • with der die das there are some rules, that make it easier to learn. For example, german words that end with -heit, -keit or -ie are often female (die)

For example die unendlichkeit (infinity) die Gesundheit (health) die Geschwindigkeit (speed), die Allergie (allergy)

  • Comment removed

  • Du ist sehr gut!

  • @NicoandLG Ich esse sehr gut?

  • @NicoandLG If you want to say "you are very good" its "Du bist sehr gut". If you want to say "you eat very good" its "Du isst sehr gut"

  • ih bulgaren helo

  • hola soy hispanoparlante y estoy comenzando mis clases de aleman, tus videos me son muy utiles, tus tips son geniales, eh logrado pronunciar bien CH wuhu!!!!

y, aunque no me queda muy claro, eh podido ver las pronunciaciones de R, in addition i practice my english listening skills hehehe thx cu!

  • @just3ta uhuhuhuhuhuhu :D

  • @just3ta sucessful troll is sucessful

  • @just3ta ahahahah :D

  • hmm, it´s so different... but it's ok... Danke!

    (ww2? forget it men!!!)

  • Right it must be horrible to learn the genders.. but if you do by feeling...something feels more female or male .. you will often be right..

As a German, even I don't understand some reasons in this language..eg:

    Die Frau - the woman

    Der Mann - the man

    Das Kind - child

    Der Junge - the boy

    BUT:

Das Mädchen - the girl (neuter)

Can't understand.. but it is like this like XD

  • @AllesSch0nWeg

Yeah this could be a reason.

  • nice video how many people have posted actually something towards this girl whos trying to help you out with speaking a language instead of beckering about history

  • @just3ta German people are very beautiful, peaceful and friendly.

If you simply can't talk with your enemies you can never make peace, you gonna learn that some day my friend. :)

  • @just3ta Everybody has the freedom to believe in the lies he or she wants to. So I am not allowed to judge over you, nor are you over me or anyone. But some day your pointless hatred will consume you, and I feel sorry for you. If you can not forgive, you are the poorest person that lives on this planet. If you need help (and I really think you need help) you should stop insulting people for nothing - no one is willing to help you otherwise.

  • @just3ta And you wanna discuss that on a youtube page that hasnt anything to do with WW2??

    Jesus Christ.

  • @just3ta Why will you discuss that in a video that hasn't anything to do about WW2?

  • @just3ta So youre saying that all old wars 500 years ago should have a compensation? you got your god damn compensation Hitler is dead okay? and you didnt even live 70 years ago. Besides it's not relevant to talk about WW2 when this video hasn't anything to do about it.

  • @just3ta Lol are you talking about 70 years ago? in the meantime get a life and move on.

  • Curiosity... If you muddle them up, is it bad? If you said Die Fahrrad instead of Das Fahrrad, would this confuse a German speaker? Or would they say you're stupid, or whatever?

  • @GreyJay69 - I'd answer your question like this: No, it's usually not too bad if you muddle up the articles, a Fahrrad is a Fahrrad, never mind the article, you're still getting the message across. If any German speaker told you that you're stupid for not getting their language exactly right, then - quite clearly - *they're* the one who's stupid. Keep in mind, though, that sometimes people might laugh when you speak German, probably because they think you sound "cute". In a good way. ;)

  • @GreyJay69 - Continued answer to your question: *Sometimes* things can get confusing when you happen to use the wrong article, like for example when you want to say "the old man/woman over there" in a colloquial way - "der/die Alte da drüben" - the word "Alte" doesn't change (in this case), but the article does. However, in this case you could say "Der alte Mann da drüben" or "Die alte Frau da drüben" to avoid confusion. Other cases like this: der/die Neue, der/die Große, and so on.

  • @GreyJay69 - Oh, and one more thing: I forgot to mention "das", so just to avoid confusion: "Der Neue ist ganz nett" - "The new (male) coworker (or whatever) is pretty nice", but "Die Neue ist ganz nett" - "The new (female) pupil (or whatever..) is pretty nice", but "Das Neue ist ganz nett" - "The new 'thing' (e.g. book, album) is pretty nice". So in cases where an adjective can be used as a substitute for a noun, you might wanna use adjective + noun instead if you're unsure about the article.

  • @Akvileja Thanks very much! :)

  • tanks, I know I'st hard to explain but I can understand you

  • i'm brazilian and i learned german in school, but now i changed school and i'm kinda forgetting it. but watching your videos really helps a lot :) i'm sure gonna check out your vlog so i can listen to german and learn more about you, since you seem so sweet and funny

    im french

  • @MrParrishhilton you do know that they liberated your country from the Germans right?

  • @serioushamster american are just shit

  • @serioushamster

You know that concentration camps are an english invention, do you?

  • @Kockoliduu I have a vague idea abut what you're trying to say,please elaborate.

  • @serioushamster

The term "concentration camp" was first used to describe camps operated by the British in South Africa during the Second Boer War. As Boer farms were destroyed by the British under their "Scorched Earth" policy—including the systematic destruction of crops and slaughtering of livestock, the burning down of homesteads and farms, and the poisoning of wells and salting of fields. So - any questions so far?

  • @Kockoliduu what does that have to do with the Germans using them?

  • @monica199009

wtf are you an fuckin terrosrist or what? not all germans are nazis you motherfucker , are you think all german people have like hitler? all hate him. he has kill german people , my grandma is died because hitler...we all have hate hitler! so fuck you!!!! im german but i am not an nazi

alter, lern englisch bevor du dich über was beschwerst-.-

sie hat gesagt, dass man aufhören soll, die deutschen nazis zu nennen

du bist so a idiot lol

  • @monica199009 generalization is a key component in bigotry and racism, I'm German and American by the way

  • We were learned an easy trick in school to recognize feminine words. Feminine words end with an e a lot, maybe that could help.

(I'm not saying every word ending with e is feminine, but most of them do)

  • Comment removed

  • i think it's not a good idea to say that you should learn the nouns together with articles. because if you learn that der/die/das is m/f/n then it will confuse you when you suddenly have to say der Frau (the woman). just learn the nouns together with m/f/n and without learning der/die/das. learn the articles when you learn the cases. i think that's better. greetings from germany ;)

  • YOU ARE GREAT !!! I THINK IT'S TOO BAD YOU DO NO MORE VIDS!!!!
