Full APU's don't exist yet.. 2014 and the engineering should catch up with the marketing.

Microsoft did the same thing with kinect.. It requires a 7950 worth of processing power just to do what was advertised, although do to all the software support kinectfusion is using CUDA(NVIDIA).

@VraccasVII No lag at all. That happens in Hybrid crossfire. Dont confuse this with Dual graphics. And at stock the A8-3850 keeps up and sometimes beats the i3. And when overclocked it can compete with an i5 at stock.

So, bit of a strange question. Have been looking to get a new processor. Firstly, with the AM3 processors, I have heard and read that they are backwards compatable. Is there a list or limitation to WHICH processors are backwards compatable? Is there somewhere that accurately lists which processors would be compatable with which AM2+ boards?

Second question, would it be worthwhile getting a new Fusion processor mobo and ram vs just getting a new AM3 processor (been thinking about the x6 1090T)?

@JustARunoftheMill Get the APU. they can be overclocked to 3.6ghz. Also buy the Gigabyte ud2h because its so easy to overclock.

I'll answer that question @Zineter50.Yes its a AMD A8-3850M 2.9GHz Fusion APU. The M is for Mobility which means laptops or notebooks.i suggest everyone support this. There is nothing worse than getting laptop but you cant buy a Video card to go to it.You wont find one.But Getting a new CPU with a built in Graphics card is perfect for laptops.It is like.That's what they were meant for! This will massively improve your performance.Don't forget to get a SSD Drive. Anyone will do!

@GiantDagger I'd think they'd be on par. I've heard that these APUs aren't much better than an Athlon II x 4 but these A6 and A8's are supposedly built on the stars platform that the Phenom IIs use. So imo they'd be the same aside from the base clock speed and that these APu's can overclock automatically like Intel's Sandy bridge chips can.

@Zineter50 they make these Llano chips for laptops, I've already seen an HP with an A6 quad core APU rated at 1.4 GHz and these are not even close to an i7, as there's no hyperthreading that the k-series unlocked intel chips have that most go for. Though like intel, these can automatically overclock to an extent.
