I love it also... It's one of the songs in that game that I feel really has some depth to it. It's so dark and somber sounding.

I agree. It gives depth to the sense of loss your character goes through in being forgotten by everyone he once knew, and in losing his father and sister. But my favorite part will always be the victorious, orchestral swell in the latter part of it. There's a sense of "I will not be beaten! I will go on!" in it, I think.
