  • when this woman with her incredible talent sings, she gives me chills down my spine.

  • Saw her at the Judy Carnegie Hall tribute in the late 90s.... she was absolutely fantastic and said some very nice things about Judy. Vikki is fantastic!!!

  • @FLBoy46 Oh man, I'm jealous.

  • @scudder99 At the time I had no idea Vikki was such a big Judy fan! But she was in FINE vocal voice that night and she knocked me OUT. I was lucky enough to be living in NY at the time and got tickets to both nights. Too bad it wasn't recorded for posterity.

  • @FLBoy46 You know that this was released on CD, Live at the Greek Theater, yes?

  • @scudder99 I just found out and ordered it from Amazon -- can't wait! Thank you.

  • Simply amazing and divine!!

  • between eydie gorme and vikki car they cover it all!

  • @joeaiuto I agree! Vikki & Eydie did cover it all & if I can't hear the original singer who really should be the only one to sings Over The Rainbow, then It's a huge treat to hear Vikki sing Garland's songs without being a cheap imitation. I heard Eydie sing part of OTR on the Carol Burnett Show & it was amazing & again, Eydie sang it in her own way as a tribute. The audience went nuts when she sang it. It showed how much ppl miss The Great Judy Garland. this clip of Vikki is amazing

  • Carr has a fantastic voice and she's a beautiful woman but her performance is sooo subdued. Judy was such a physical performer, Carr seems to be channelling Doris Day (also a great singer).

  • STUNNING!!!

  • There needs to be a new rating ... NOt Like.. But LOVE.. she is so fabulous.. ... unbelievable.

  • @geenaskye why was my comment removed i never leave anything illegal lol?????

  • I agree with TXBOOTS325. This outstanding and nobody, but nobody can do it better than the beautiful Ms. Vikki Carr!!!

  • Love the playlist of Vikki Carr: great performance of Judy Garland tribute.

  • I think this would have made Judy Proud! Not many can get away with even doing a so so rendition let alone come close to the way Garland owned this song. Vikki should great reverence for "Over the Rainbow" in the beginning when you see her eyes fill with tears. Thanks.

  • Thanks so much for posting. I went to a few Vikki Carr concerts back inthe 70's and 80's and when she sang this it was heartwrenching. She is the Best!!!!

  • I lreally love her!!!

  • Perfection! Absolute perfection! Nobody does it better than the legendary Vikki Carr!

  • wow class voice like judys

  • love her!!! thank you

  • Simply Brilliant

  • If the company that filmed this would release it on DVD they would make a mint.

The Canadian video and "Live In Japan" double LP are the type of reissues the fans want to get their hands on.

Vikki's voice has only gotten stronger with the years and her voice could be registered as a nation treasure.

  • Nobody comes close to Vikki. I believe the fabulous orchestra is the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra, who was at its absolute best in the 70s, recording with many acts including Procol Harem's Conquistador.

  • OUTSTANDING ! Great performance from a great singer, and a gorgeous lady!

  • Great tribute to Judy. Judy "owned" every one of her signature songs in this tribute - but they were on loan to Vikki Carr for the evening and she handled them beautifully.

I especially like the fact that Vikki did not do Judy's arrangements - she wisely left Judy's phrasing alone and gave them her own treatment.

Wisely, reverently, beautifully done. Wow - two great artists. Thanks for sharing this video. Could start me on another night of "wallowing in Judyville".

  • WOW INDEED. This is what you call an orchestra!!! Not to mention a singer who could belt it to the rafters!!!

  • The man that WALKED away? excellent otherwise.

  • I seem to remember the original lyric on the 1973 Live At The Greek CD. The WALKED away could be referring to her 1974 divorce from Dan Moss

  • never heard this before great great great thanks for the memories. david wolverhampton

  • she sounds a bit like thew older Judy...

    Good stuff.

  • One of the true great belters of the 60's; right up there with Shirley Bassey, Judy, Eyde Gorme and Barbra.

  • real classy lady with a wonderful voice

  • Call me crazy, but I actually think that she sounds a little bit like Garland herself.

  • I agree, she does sound like Judy Garland in this medley. She sings Garland's songs excellently. A great tribute.

  • Excellent tribute. Didn't know this singer, but she is great.

  • Vikki has a wonderful Christmas album out too! I love it:) Thanks so much for this post!!!

  • WOW! Vikki and Judy have a similar quality, both possess that rich, fullness in their voice esp. when hitting the high notes. Awesome. Great Find.

  • Desde niña escuche a Vikki Carr, recordando a Judy Garland, desde el Teatro Griego, en una mudanza perdì mis discos, y ha sido una gran emociòn volver a escuchar su gran voz, gracias por este momento. Mary Carmen Navarro

  • Where did you find this Vid? I have been hunting for YEARS !!! Really a great medley, and Vikki never sounded better. You're right...that live CD of Vikki's at the Greek Theatre was just released a couple of years ago and is terrific. Thanks.

  • Like Judy always did, a brilliant tribute by Vikki singing from her soul as always...enjoyed this tribute in concert many times over the years and always a stunner to experience...still in great form, Vikki tremendous @ Cerritos in 07 with many standing ovations from a sold-out crowd !!! Bravo Vikki!

  • @bradly2007 Vikki Carr's tribute to Judy Garland is one of the very best tributes I've seen without her trying to be Judy Garland. Today singers arent come and go.They're more about being "in the moment"& they sing like they are gargling with all that vocal warbling. Those singers are limited but Singers like Judy & Vikki, their songs can be sung at any age. Judy Garland's voice was timeless that something in it touches deep emotions that cant be explained.

  • Rufus who?

  • Very good performance. Where is Vicki Carr now?

  • She's still around. A few years back Vicki had a special on PBS, a tribute to Mexican standards and Vicki's guests were Jack Jones, Pepe Aguliar and a trumpet play whom I can't remember at this time. Excellent. Call PBS and inquire, the dvd & cd were for sale.

  • I agree with luftloft! The best tribute ever for our dear Judy.

  • It must be just called a wonderful stage.

  • she sounds like judy!

  • the best Judy tribute ever! Her Man that got away is sensational.
