im pretty pale, i mean, REALLY pale...and most people tell me i'm hot. tanning CAN give you a slimming effect, but i'm in really good shape and my body type is pretty good. i dont look unhealthy though. people who say pale people look unhealthy just dont know what theyre talking about. yes, when you get sick you become pale, but you can be pale and have kind of a glow to your skin without looking weird...YAY PALE PEOPLE!

I think it stems from the fact that having a tan makes you look more healthy than being extremely pale. Having a tan also makes you look slimmer. Even if you think about how are minds subconsciously work when finding a partner we look for someone who appears healthy. Think about in the stone age the ones that would hunt would be tanned from the sun and seem fitter to mate with.
