A nice touch to such a deep and involving scene, but yes at the same time talking about this film in a serious sense. 2001 does have so many deep references in it and can be read on so many different levels. I like to try and look at the movie and also the book (lets not 4get that! lol), as basically showing man's journey to becoming "God" almost. And i often wonder even now today, that what with secret societies and all that man may in-fact be trying to do that.
Poor Dave...being subjected to that for all that time without a gun to shoot himself. But he got his revenge later since the music came from Jupiter, and then "something wonderful" happened.
Hahahaha! Wonderful! This passage in the original movie made me pass out/trance/go to sleep! I watched the movie four times before I saw the end! No, I didn't get seizures or use drugs or anything, it's just that that sequence is kind of hypnotizing to me! lol! Thank you for this, though!
This is one of those movies that I don't particularly enjoy, but recommend everyone see just for how big of an impact on everything it has had. There are countless references that you wouldn't get without seeing it.
Oh, and the inappropriate soundtrack had me in stitches too.
Ludwig von Drake with 2001: An idea so crazy that it actually WORKS! The soundtrack is oddly fitting, believe it or not, especially towards the end, but you did succeed in making me laugh a lot harder than I thought I would. I think this video made my night :).
this is my favorite video on youtube. i remember the song from some disney cd i listended to when i was like 4 or something. anyways this is some funny shat
that was the finest moment in any film ever and you are going to hell for disliking it you slime infested fox-new-watching maggot-ridden evangelical christian racist fascist slut objectivist young-earth-creationist i bet you jerk off to pictures of mussolini
I'm going to assume they weren't serious, as no human in the history of cinema likes that scene. At the very least, you have to admit that it goes on WAAAAY too long.
Yes, I admit it went on pretty long, but I thought it was very ominous and mysterious.. especially considering what's happening to him and where he's going.
Okay.. *cough* the book kinda helps for that... :P
@Boonehams I love this scene my fav scene in the history of film and my favorite movie. No regrets on how it was made, okay with it being as long as it is.
This song single-handedly turned this movie from a sci-fi weird as hell flick into the most horrifying thing I've ever seen in my life (even more so than Teletubbies).
Holy crap, I remember this song! I had it on a cassette tape when I was a little kid- I haven't heard it in years! I absolutely loved how ( mainly in the beginning ) the colors actually synced with the song part of the time. One of my favorite Inappropriate Soundtrack videos! Keep 'em coming! :D
OH MY GOD! That was one of the FUNNIEST freaking things I've ever seen. It's like that song was written for that stupid scene. Yeah, Kubrick fans, I said it was STUPID.
