  • Puts a lump in your throut everytimr

  • Foy was unknown to me until I saw him open for Bonnie Raitt. He was a hugely charismatic performer and had the audience in his thrall. His dynamism, feeling and his energy were in complete contrast to the lacklustre and pedestrian run through from Bonnie Raitt, although her band were very good, especially her piano player. At her best she is outstanding but Foy just left her standing in his wake. I would love to see him live again but not her.

  • I doubt if you remember me Foy. I offered to help you carry your gear out after your performance at Big John's 50th Birthday party..I've been a fan ever since. Been sharing your videos with friends all over the world. They all became instant fans..Good luck for the future. Oh, can we have a new album Please....

  • i was bought the album for xmas last year, only started listening to it last week, the whole album is superb but this song is by far and away one of the best songs i've heard in the last 10 years.

  • He's coming to play in my tiny little English village next month. yaaaaaaay!

  • the voice of grace

  • this... is magic!

  • Extraordinarily fabulous. Foy, if you could see your way to gracing the stage of the New York Irish Center at some time in the future, we'd be honored. Nothing but the best, Christopher

  • this makes me cry everytime.

  • My friend got to talk to him on the phone. I laughed at her screaming I LOVE YOU FOY, but suddenly i'm feeling really jealous.....lol.

  • i love this song more than any other

  • @BethHartless1 Me too!

  • I just bought his CD...best purchase I've made since discovering Josh Ritter.

  • genius!

  • today I was humming this song in the car whilst waiting for my mum to come back from the shop, when just down the street a man was carrying four full plastic bags of food. They all burst and the food dropped all over the pathway, so I grabbed two or three carrier bags and ran down to him and gave them to him. bless the wee soul he said 'it's like you were sent from the sky!' :) but thanks Foy, cause if I hadn't heard that song i probably wouldn't have helped that man :D

  • Very very lovely. Thanks to Michael for sharing this, for his kindness.

  • take them home...yes

    soul

  • Completely lovely.

  • OK I've listened to this a couple dozen times in the last 2 days. It's the unbelievably gravel soaked soulful voice, the brutally honest lyrics, even the punctuation thing with his leg :) and his dangling ChuckE sneakers melt me every time. I had several musical orgasms between 2:50 and 3:35 .... Foy you're the real thing brother. I'm defiled ... will you take me HOOOOoooooOhhhhhhhhooome?

  • me2. to be honest, i liked him the best :)! i loved him from the very first song!!!!

  • Yeah, I'm so glad I got to hear him :). It's so powerful when someone can move someone with just a guitar (in some songs). I love when artists are using loop - so cool..:)

  • brilliant! One of the best songs i ever came across!

  • God bless! Truly inspirational!

  • Foy Vance is one of those rare treasures ............. a musician who is God loving and has the ability to play to any and every audience .

  • She awoke early in the morning

made the bed gathered up her clothes to leave

Saw the concierge curled on the settee

And said what you did for me is hard for me to believe

  • I reckon we could all learn something from Foy Vance... God bless you sir!

  • I don't know if you know,

But Foy is a christian and plays at our biggest christian youth festival every year for about the last 5 years here in belfast that i can remember.

Unbelievable performer and a very gentle man.

  • Aweeeeeesomeeeee :D I actually cant get enough of this guy!

  • @Ennisrfc93 : I know right :)

  • I was just doing what was right.

No one that knows love could leave you out there on such a night.

If you can help someone bear this in mind

and consider it an indiscriminate act of kindness

Consider it an indiscriminate act of kindness!

  • anybody know what tuning he's in?

  • CGDGCe

  • Btw hes playing the Lowden in this vid too

  • Does anybody know what guitar he uses when he plays this song on his album?

  • Pretty sure he uses his LOWDEN. I think he has a cedar top O model. I have a spruce top o32. Lowden are the mutts nuts. Ask, Damien Rice Foy Vance and David Grey, amongst others.

  • or my mate wes greirson... who probably made all their guitars for them!

George Lowden is a great maker....Wes is highly regarded pretty much as his best luthier!

    God Bless

    JW

  • Well if Wes built my O32 thank him for me! It is awsome, anyone who plays it or listens to it adores the quality of tone and workmanship. Cheers wes!

  • Big fan of artists who can write, play and sing. Foy is excellent - and a new discovery for me.....simply superb

  • Fantastic song! Vance is a great song writer. Taylor Hicks put this on his new album. It's my favorite on the cd.

  • :) kindness... Xx

  • seen foy last night and it was absolutely sensational have to agree with the comment about him being like more than one man on stage

  • Completely disagree. Foy's music is sensational and he's a true gentleman.

  • He was more than one man on stage! Gives me goosebumps....legend

  • PRECIOUS!!!

  • i didnt mean to press the thumbs upp.. mupshepp is a fag

  • This song makes me cry, it's amazing.

  • This song carries a great message for Christmas. A fantastic tale of pure human giving.

  • His Heart is pure and streams of love.

  • love it!!!

  • Incredible

  • he sings it like its him in that story, raw emotion! brilliant

  • This mans music and performance is truly breath taking. A great individual as well.

  • love your comment and your your name : }

  • I saw Foy Vance supporting Nizlopi at the recent London Uni Union gig. What an amazing performance, from his heart break songs to his one man multi-layering hip boogie funky numbers, he showered us with a broad spectrum of artistry of the finest kind. Me an old session guy too and I was blown away.... my child-like wonder was reinstituted. Bless you Foy. Where's me guitar....

  • I tell ya, first time I'd ever heard of the guy, and he was amazing at this gig! Really set the mood, and the whole night was amazing!

Was there on my own, and yet the whole crowd felt like friends because everyone was into the music (aside from maybe a couple of over-drunk student nutters!)

  • How... how could you say that? This song is brilliant!

    =)

It's all right, this is your opinion, you have a right to express it. I won't hold it against you, but I do have to say that I absolutely adore this euphonious masterpiece, and I hope you can see the way it moves people, and the beautiful message it brings.

  • I dnt think Mupshepp understood half of the words you used in that sentence.

like the first one and the second.

i agree freaking love this song.

  • Thank you. I very much appreciate this support =D Makes me feel a lot nicer.

  • a lot of people talking about Foy and Ray LaMontagne; all I can say is they're probably my favourite two artists ever! Going to see Ray in february, and I'm just crossing my fingers that Foy is gonna tour again soon.

If you like them, you might wanna check out artists like Amos Lee and Ben Harper too. Bon Iver and Alexi Murdoch are pretty good too!

  • Ray lamontagne is great but i dunno how you could compare them-foy is a much more selfless writer if i could describe it that way-ray lamontagne is a bit more depressing as well!nd dont say that indiscriminate act of kindness is depressin-it is a hugely uplifting and joyous song-full of HOPE!!

  • this song is unbelievable never tire of it

  • love this song. i cant stop listening to it

  • the chorus is very catchy ...... keeps repeating in my head

  • any 1 know where i can download this song? its amazing!! wow!!

  • Man you were totallyt amazin at summer madness!

    Front row !! Woooo!

  • yeahhhhhhhhhhh i was there 2!!!!!!!

    did you see four kornerz?

  • great song man,if u like this music listen 2 richard walters,he's not as gud as this guy but he's a great up and coming artist!! loadsa respect!!

  • probably the most beautiful song ever written...up there with vincent by don mclean and blowers daughter by damien rice

  • This brought tears to my eyes and put my soul to sleep which is such a great thing you don't even know..i love you Foy vance keep makin such amazing music man.

  • In a world of commercial pop music crap it is refreshing to see and hear people like Foy and Ray Lamontagne paving the way for young song writers who don't want to conform to the commercial ways... this is real music.

  • HAHAHA!! Totally agree! Ray Lamontange is such and awesome song writer but even he is put in his place by Foy! I cant stand to see peers listen to music that will never even have the slightest ammount of emotion! I hope that music like this will some day catch on with younger people!

  • Im young and i think Ray and Foy are two of the best in the world today... love em! Check out "Bon Iver" too.. Legend!

  • merci heiko..

das ist ein wirklich, wirklich schönes lied:)!

  • outstanding!

  • great stuff

  • Duke Special? get the boat. Could of named a hundred irish acts more successful.
