Foy was unknown to me until I saw him open for Bonnie Raitt. He was a hugely charismatic performer and had the audience in his thrall. His dynamism, feeling and his energy were in complete contrast to the lacklustre and pedestrian run through from Bonnie Raitt, although her band were very good, especially her piano player. At her best she is outstanding but Foy just left her standing in his wake. I would love to see him live again but not her.

today I was humming this song in the car whilst waiting for my mum to come back from the shop, when just down the street a man was carrying four full plastic bags of food. OK I've listened to this a couple dozen times in the last 2 days. It's the unbelievably gravel soaked soulful voice, the brutally honest lyrics, even the punctuation thing with his leg :) and his dangling ChuckE sneakers melt me every time. Pretty sure he uses his LOWDEN. I think he has a cedar top O model. I have a spruce top o32. Lowden are the mutts nuts. Ask, Damien Rice Foy Vance and David Grey, amongst others.

I saw Foy Vance supporting Nizlopi at the recent London Uni Union gig. What an amazing performance, from his heart break songs to his one man multi-layering hip boogie funky numbers, he showered us with a broad spectrum of artistry of the finest kind. a lot of people talking about Foy and Ray LaMontagne; all I can say is they're probably my favourite two artists ever! Going to see Ray in february, and I'm just crossing my fingers that Foy is gonna tour again soon.

If you like them, you might wanna check out artists like Amos Lee and Ben Harper too. Bon Iver and Alexi Murdoch are pretty good too!
