There is no "Ultima Edition" official release of FF7. The Ultima Edition is a hacked (and illegal) version of the game released by pirates back in the days when it was hard to get the official version of the game working properly.

If you bought a version of the game with "Ultima Edition" on the case, then someone ripped you off.

the reason i say this is because if safer sephy had tried to used supernova the game would have just hung there waiting for the backround to break

which would never happen unless you suddenly warped to the last boss scene.

no you dont need to fight diamond weapon i have had a glitch happen to me many times its where diamond weapon runs up to you and it skips the fight and goes directly to the movie after the fight i dont know why it happens it just does.. and i have downloaded this game recently and i am trying to get it to work with the PRP model recreation but it just fucks up i guess i will have to stick with the classic on my epsxe or i can play my copy on my ps1.. damn was looking forward to the model upgrade

I've got a ps3 , and just downloaded it off ps3 classics, but tbh, i don't remember fighting diamond weapon, just that he got shot by shinra shit loads, and that you had to fight ultima weapon, and emerald and ruby were optional?

You do need to fight Diamond Weapon.

He rises from the ocean and you have to wait at Midgar for him to walk there, then you need to fight him.

Also, the other 3 Weapon creatures are optional.

Ultima weapon is easy though, and you can get Cloud's ultimate weapon from him.
