Elliot Mason is revolutionizing the way you can improvise on trombone, he is quickly becoming to trombone what Chris Potter is to sax. Its a shame that there isn't much of his work out there but what is blows my mind
The middle tune is on the album and we trade on a similar sequence as the first track. I've posted a video response of us recording the album, it has a slice from most of the tunes on the album.
Ive heard all the greatest trombone players but ive never heard anyone play bone like this.He swings so much harder than Mc Chesney and plays lines that are incredibly hard to execute.
Elliot Mason is the freakiest and most harmonicaly advanced trombone player that ever existed. There are no other trombone players who could even come close to what he plays. He must be accessesing hyper innerdemensional information from other worlds and realities.
Wow, Tim Miller never ceases to amaze me. At the risk of sounding like a dumb guitarist, I would say that he reminds me of Holdsworth, except with a more modern sound. Either way that was an awesome set!
xlfutur1- i could not agree more, conrad and elliot would make a ridiculous team. they are the only ones ever to play the trombone that can rip through tunes like this one
You need to make a CD with Conrad Herwig...That would be the pinnacle of jazz trombone playing to date. Oh, and throw in John Allred as a guest too! Trombone players everywhere are waiting for a CD like this.
OH MY GOD!!! I thought it was impossible to be good at trombone. I thought you could only be better than other trombone players... Elliot Mason.... Best trombone player to ever exist. Yes, Elliot Mason, yes.
wicked coolness, mason homies. I had no idea it was being taped so seeing a night of some of the best musicianship AGAIN is a real treat for those of us who were there. Especially for me cause I walked in on the last bar of the first tune, and I could tell from the ending that i just missed some carnage.
This vid montage had better book yooz tons of gigs or I will lose all faith in humanity.
Killer playing Elliot! Man, your soul is all over that trombone, pouring out into the room and now the YouTube cosmos. Keep up the killer tunes. -TubaDylan
it's been a long time since we did a gig together, but I'm glad to see you're still doing your thing. We'll share another stage together real soon. Good luck and blessings to you and your brother.

I can't say I'm too into this style of music, but I dig this song. Will it be on the album?

That passage from 6:55 -7:03 is the most incredible line I've ever heard on a brass instrument.

No wonder his guns are so big! Moving around that fast! Awesome playing! It's not just the speed, it's the language he's speaking.

there is only one way to make the trombone move that fast.... bacon grease. don't get none on yo' self.

There isn't a more progressive jazz trombonist in the world today. Anyone disagree?

A guy in San Antonio, Tx named Ron Wilkins is a forward thinking trombonist like this. not sure if he's on youtube but he's worth checking out...
