First 1 done 4.5 years, second 1 last year. If you have osteoarthritis that has started effecting your activity level, then get this done. You will not regret it. Returned to all pre arthritis activities. First op, was out in 2 days, second op, out the next day.
@TheHmhhhdb i've got osteoarthritis in both hips, diagnosed from an x-ray, its worse on the left, i'm in pain every day my gp said, take painkillers and come back in 20 years, because i'm early 40's.. what do i do?
@chutchybo Yeah that was the answer I got from the VA doc when I went to see him, plus here use this crutch. 44 at the time, finally had the first 1 done when I was 46. Do a search for an ortho that does BHR's in your area. You will not be sorry that you did the research and got the operation. BHR is approved by most insurance now, so get back to living and get it done.
I had this before 1 year back. Now I am feeling better than before. After Post Operation we have to do minimum exorcises suggested by Doctor. I feel post operation non veg food will helps us a lot to heal up the muscle.
Great video! am having this done by Dr. Bose later this month and am so glad I found these videos. Very reassuring to see exactly what will be done and how it is done.
Had this done 2 years ago. Glad I didn't see this before, but it was the best thing I ever had done. No pain now and my hip works like it did years ago before the arthritis.
I have all you beat. Im 32 and a former fighter. I tore my labrum and am in need of a BHR. I have lost my insurance and have to pay cash for this. Does anybody know a doc who would accept a cash payment for this?
@christopheclugston Yup Im in san jose Ca. Im worried about post op care if i go to india. How would i get help if something is wrong when i get home?
Funny to see comments from people in my age bracket. I am 36 and have been suffering for more than 12yrs after dislocation. Wondering what my limits will be after this? Don't need to be a sports junky but want to hike, backpack and walk without pain again.
awsome, i had this done n 2008 and yeah it looks nasty, but has changed my life dramatically, i was 35 when had it done.. Dr ruff at royal northshore hospital in sydney australia done mine, he is a amazing man......
@wekron Dont worry yourself I had it done and im 37 I was sore for a while but well worth getting it done before the op I couldnt walk the length of my street without feeling my hip was on fire but now about 3 months after the op I walk about 15 miles a week and run a shot distance whithout any pain just stiffness in the mornings but that is due to me building up thigh mussels and gluts, if you get the op plenty off exersice is the key to fast recovery, hope this helps
Oh my hat... I was told today that I would need a Resurfacing done on my right hip.
O well at least it's not a hip replacement.... I thought.... so I Googled it and found this... I am 35 Years old and I have tears in my eyes after seeing this!!!
I must be the exception to the rule I had this done on April 8 th and I was doing pretty good but for some unknown reason my hip dislocated on the 17 th of March I was in the hospital flat on my back for the next 3 weeks and I am still having a great deal of pain I can't sleep more than and hour at a time or sit for more than a half hour I am thinking I didn't chose a very good surgeon what do all of you think about all the trouble I am having anyone else gone though any thing like this
@jimdnm The surgeon has to have in excess of 200 of such procedures performed as Dr. Bose stated it on an interview, that is the learning curve for the procedure. It is a very technically demanding procedure as it must replicate the correct anatomy of the patient. I am sorry to hear what happened to you, perhaps you should consult Dr. Gross who has done 2000 of such procedures on a revision I believe he is in south Carolina. Best wishes

I had this op 6 weeks ago in Musgrave Park Hospital in Belfast and feel the op was a great success, I have been off all walking aids for 2 weeks now I still have a slight limp and get slight pain around my thigh but it is easeing each day and cant wait to get exerciseing properly. So thank you Mr Warnock at Musgrave P H
Had this done 9 days ago. Went off all painkiller three days post-op. Much less pain than I had before the surgery. Gotta spend 9 days largely on your back post-op, but that's the worst part. Probably best I didn't watch this before the op though. If you want the drama footage, skip to Part III.
@435stevehowe hi..just wondering after goin through this surgery how have things been workin out for u..have u been able to return back to ur normal life or back to work..or just basic info u can give me ..thanks
I had the resurfacing BH resurface done in 2005 when I was 45 . Changed my life . I am riding on a road bike about 300 km per week and train with mens masters cat 1 and 2 racers . It took a lot of hard work to build speed and fitness . I gained about 8 lbs of muscle mass to my glutes and legs after the surgery . I had degenerative osteoarthritas for over 15 yrs prior . To all the surgeons and those that perform these surgeries many thanks !
Thank God for the knowledge and wisdom he give to all the doctors.......As you all doctors do the job I pray that God will continue to cover and keep you and your family members safe.....have a great evening!
@MrJojomoney hi there did it take you weeks then to get back on your feet i get my done 18 weeks time i am only 31 years old too. my right hips wornout big time.

you'll be fine ! NO SMOKING if you do ,and commit to a good workout routine after . Follow your physiotherapists excersizes . Build strong muscles through the hips , glutes quads and thighs , this will serve you well for many years . Good luck !
@SamuraiPies hi /just wondering after goin through this surgery how have things been workin out for u..have u been able to return back to ur normal life or back to work..or just basic info u can give me ..thanks
@SamuraiPies, My Dad had a hip operation today and he is 81. I can understand you are terrified I would be, more of he pain after then the actual operation, but if you think that a man thats 81 with dementia and heart disease has been thru this today and at least you are younger and with it, so you will heal quicker then my Dad. I wish you luck and good health
I had this operation, when I was 19! It took about a full year to fully be better but no pain now. I go to the gym and lead a very active lifestyle. This video is hardcore and it is a really intrusive operation but the results are worth it! You just have to get on and deal with it.
I have had this procedure on both hips. Pre op pain far outweighed any post op pain. Left hip done 6/9, returned to full duty at job on 7/2. Follow post op protocols and therapy. My results are bulletproof.
Very informative...My mom-in-law went through it.Hey doc can u reply to my question. She got the bone fractured after the operation and she is again gonna get operated.we are quit worried that is she gonna be fine or there is something else.
I just had this procedure three weeks ago today. I would not wish this on my worst enemy. The first week was terribly hard and it was almost impossible to get any sleep more than 2-3 hours at a time. Anyone that is about to go through this procedure, it is VERY important to follow up with regular therapy and be very committed to doing it as instructed. Today, three weeks later I still have the pain but not near as bad and I'm almost ready to stop using my walker and start using my cane.
i was just diagnosed with AVN. How did you choose surface replacment over core decompression? I am researching both of these options. thank you for any help you can give me.
First off, try to relax. I totally understand the fear of seeing these videos on Youtube. That was my big mistake. Just remember, we live in a time of modern medical miracles and everything will be ok. Don't listen to people saying stupid things, especially if they have never been there. Having said that, you are in my prayers my friend. I had two options, full replacement or resurfacing. It all depended on how good my bone was after the doctor saw my bones up close after the xray.
Out of both choices, a resurfacing is always better than a full replacement because you get to keep more of your original bone and they last longer. Plus the healing time is faster. Three weeks after my surgery, I stopped using the walker and started using the cane. I'm very diligent about my therapy and do what I'm told to do and that has a big effect on the success rate of a speedy recovery. But if you had to choose between the two, always go for the resurfacing. Its newer and better.
You'll only be able to walk out on crutches. I've had it done and it's some time before you can put weight on it. I'm having the other one done next week! The first, done two years ago, is absolutely great.
I have had a BHR done just over 2 years ago and i am very happy with the outcome. No more pain in that hip. Now im booked of the other hip on the 15th of January. Im looking forward to having the BHR done so i will have both hips done and im hoping the end to hip pain forever!!!!
Wow! Would have liked to see this a year ago. I had this procedure and it worked well for a while (after 3-6 months of tough recovery anyway). Now I have pain again after 1 year when walking and I have developed pockets of liquid around the metal hip replacement. They are thinking this could be that I am allergic to wear metal and there is no way to find out prior to this type of surgery. Please be careful when selecting this. Now I may have to have the traditional surgery anyway.
Hi there. All done, what a difference this has made. Still little sore in the area where they opened me up but no more pain in the femur or pelvis. Fantastic.
Booked in for the 9th July to have surgery. There are 2 things that I am scared of and that is, 1, I have been in pain for 12 years now and have dont remember what it is like not to have pain and the speed that my left hip will move after surgery, I may not be able to keep up with myself..LMAO...
For those of you contemplating ongoing the hip resurfacing procedure, I have two friends that have undergone the procedure and the results are extremely remarkable. I can say without hesitation, as a physical therapist, this procedure produces great results.
I was contemplating resurfacing, I cannot help but feel nervous about this surgery but when I weigh up the pain that I have had for 12yrs and ongoing daily this is looking very likely. At present I recieve 4 injections into the hip per year but not yet getting much relief apart fom the 4 hours after the injection. Should I carry on getting injections or is it time for surgery?
