@charlesquinn87 Don't call me kid. It's been 20 years of reading their setlists for me; and riddle me this ...why isn't it like that on the official releases? An end of a song is nothing, a segue is an arrow w or w/out a tail.....that's the only way that makes sense.
@DeadHeadRussell ok....whatever. It was really just fodder, we could back and forth citing sources but it's almost time for the west coast run. My mind is elsewhere now. I am sticking with my guns and following suit with the notion that holding a note or a brief pause is not a seque. To me, a segue has to come from nowhere, not a planned execution of one song to another. That's just me. Be safe and travel wisely phriends.
@pajasper my only point is that there is really no difference between > and ->, think about it. If there is no segue what's the point of >? There is no point. It's just a new song. What are you denoting with > ? If it is meant to denote that they did not segue, why put it on there? To let the reader know they weren't having a smoke or a drink? It seems pointless to me.
@pcburgh01 Well when I note a set with .> it means to end a song but immediately start a new song (which should be done anyway) but this is to notate that the next song starts on the '1'.
> by itself (without the period before it) means to truncate any normal ending and blend into the next song without its usual beginning
@pajasper I guess I fail to see the point of needing to know whether there is a pause or not. I only need to know if one song "becomes" another song. Every song at a Phish show would have a > with the exception of one or two. When we traded boots at Plattsburgh State it was always -----> to the next song when they played through the transition. Man I miss those days. But I don't miss the sound quality. 5.1 is awesome. These kids have it good today.
If a song comes to an end and there is hardly any pause it does not denote a > in the setlist unless the jam is a segue into the next song. Coming to an end and starting again with no pause is not a segue. Don't ask me why I picked this video but I did. All you setlist posters out there get it right. All of Phish's shows will have > after the song be that the case. We need to know the difference. Just list the song until its a jam into a song.
really? you're going to bitch about something so silly?? i hardly see how it makes much difference. no one's making any money here. people do this out of love. if you don't like how they do it, then buy it on phish.net. i just get off on the fact that i subscribe to 3 people who get to go to shows i can't, and they are awesome enough to post them quickly. great sound quality is what matters. and these guys deliver. so sit back and enjoy and don't read the title if it bothers you. peace n love!

A segue is one of those little motorized 2 wheel stand up scooter things. Like the one ridden by Weird Al in his "White and Nerdy" video.

i hate to tell ya kid, but you're wrong. it's always been '>' for no pause, '->' for an actual segue. sorry.
