  • Can someone link me to a video or something to show me how i can change my unsealed bottom bracket to a sealed bottom bracket? I've had an unsealed bottom bracket for my bike for years, im buying a new bike with sealed bearings all round, but my girlfriend wants my old bmx to ride with me at my local park, is there a particular way? mine is one of those big bottom brackets, Not the new small ones, It's a 2005 mongoose pro sniper, if anybody knows what frame it is.

  • @PlayerUnkown

Well, if the mongoose already has a 3peice but just isn't sealed I wouldn't worry about it. Your girlfriend will be just fine on it the way it is.

but, to change out the BB you will need to buy a whole new crank set up, which would cost more than the bike is really worth. Keep what's in it and put money into your new bike.

  • @twiztidsidfreak13 I understand all this but.. The bottom bracket itself is fucked lol. Excuse the language but i have to exemplify my meaning. The driver side of the bottom bracket, The cone or whatever (Not the dust cover thingy or the thing you place into the frame) the thing for the bearings to sit on right next to the sprocket is all chewed up. And when you pedal and ride it for a bit it becomes extremely loose and the more you tighten it, the more the frames cup things push inward.

  • @PlayerUnkown

Well, it sounds like you need a whole new crank system. Snafu and Redline both have good priced crank set ups that come with American BBs. Or look on craigslist and you might find bikes for good prices for parts or something. The part you are talking about is called a race lol its the cone part the bearings sit on. if it is chewed up that is NOT good lol you are going to need a new crank set either way

  • @twiztidsidfreak13 Well it's only 1 part that is chewed that "race" part.. I have another Sprocket the same size connected to a 3 piece thats the same size and all. But the sprocket is weirdly bent xD

  • I recently got a 2004 Freeagent with a one piece crank, What would I need to upgrade to a 3pc crank? American BB?

  • is it possible to replace a unsealed bottom bracket like that to a sealed american/mid bottom bracket?

  • @CopeManMTNDEW

Yes, with an american BB. its getting harder and harder to find cups for those. Mib barrings are the same thing but you need the cups

  • whoop whoop mcl

  • @KrazyBmx517

    You are damn right!

  • see the bottom bracket i have a mongoose villain pro and i need a new bottom bracket but i cant find the same 1 is there any other ones that will fit my bike

  • @calumc604

You should have an unsealed american bottom bracket. take the bike to a shop have them look at it

and they will tell you and then go get it and replace it yourself

  • @calumc604 i am selling the same bottom bracket he uses it is second hand but rides and looks fine!

  • Thank you so much!!! Ive been trying to find a video on youtube like this and this is the perfect one!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

  • I was a bit iffy with your 'How To' but it freakin' worked! Must've saved myself £15 if I asked a store to do it, so stoked right now, cheers! :D

  • @CardiganSnoopy

Glad I could help. If you need help with anything else let me know. I know I could have done the "how to" a bit better and edited it better, but I think the video shows what to do well enough.

  • @twiztidsidfreak13 cool vid do you think you could make up a video on how to strip a bmx asin take it all parts off stem forks bars frame etc im wanting to make a custom bike sprayed and built by me but no doubt i will end up screwing it up and breaking something or when i have all my new parts ill end up doing it wrong

  • @calumc604

Well I don't really have a bike i could take apart that much. It's not hard just take it apart slowly and remember where everything goes. just make sure you got all the right tools!

  • shit not pro .l.

  • @keVinBMX1313

I'm not sure what you are saying

  • thanks big help was goin to repair me bmx rooster crank now i know how to

  • thanks big help was goin to repair me bmx rooster crank

  • the only part of bike maintainance im not too sure about is building wheels. is it fairly easy to learn to build wheels. It can't be that hard. Is it easy to learn from books.

  • @210482fmj

building wheels can be hard, but it's not overly hard. There are videos out there showing how to lace the spokes right. I personally do not bother doing that myself. I would rather just buy a wheel set complete. You got to get all the parts for a good deal to make it worth doing yourself

  • can i do this even if my buttom bracket is the 1 that looks like bolts with bearings and ish? pls help out i really need to know tnx :)

  • @CeeEmmz

It sounds like you have an unsealed 3peice. that process is a bit different, but alot the same. I'm really not sure exactly what you mean though

  • Thanks a lot !

  • Help me i cant get the bottom bracket out of the frame D:<. i got one out but the other one wont come out D:

  • @RaptorDiablo

Well the best thing is to turn the frame so the BB you are trying to get out is facing away from you. Then you bang it out moving around the edge of the barring. I use an old ratchet because it has a wide enough but slim enough flat edge to not hurt the BB but enough got get it out. It's kinda hard to describe this was. just bang on the BB from the inside moving around the edge. I hope that helps

  • @twiztidsidfreak13 yeah, thanks for the help.... but it didt work, ill keep trying. Thanks for your feedback, your the best :D

  • @RaptorDiablo

Well, im not really sure what kind of BB you are trying to remove. Just remember some times you have to hit it harder than you think you should. Just make sure to keep moving around the edge to keep it even as it comes out. Also, when you do get it out and put your new BB in make sure to slightly grease the bearings or cups (whatever is fitting into the frame directly) that way next time they will slip out easier

  • What's the name for the washer you put on the crank at about 8:00 please reply. :(

  • @morrowindisthebest

That is commonly known as a LOCK WASHER, it has the tab that goes into the grove of the threads to keep it from spinning while in use. it is not 100% necessary but really should be used. Any spaced washer of the same size will work, but as i said the tab helps the washer not move while in use or while tightening. Hope that helps

  • Thanks, helped me loooooads!! :)

  • why do u use 1 piece cranks?

  • @TheNoobgotowned

Not all bikes need or should have 3piece. If you had watched the video right you would have seen that I am working on an old school GT Mac1 I am not some 15 year old trend hopping kid, I'm a grown up who has been riding bikes for well over 20 years and who has been collecting for over 12 years. I am a lover a rider and a collector of bikes of many ages and styles. I hope that answers your question

  • @twiztidsidfreak13 u bet it does, thanks dude

  • WHOOP WHOOP!

  • hey show me how to put on stretch crusier crankset.

  • @angelwingsracing

should be exactly the same way. The bike is bigger and some times the crank arms are a little longer, but the process is the same

  • how do u tell what the bore size and the teeth size are or does it matter?

  • @HMTRACING313

    Not sure what you mean

  • one peice crank thats why it is so eaisy

  • @hockeysbestsniper87

one piece is harder than a three piece! There is alot more parts and to a single piece crank.

  • Thanks.

  • How would i remove those bearing cups? due to replacing my 1 piece crank and adding a 3 piece crank? any help?

  • @GraphicalGunna

well a hammer and a old ratchet or a screw driver works. just makes sure to tap from the inside and work your way around dont just hit in one spot and out they will pop

  • @twiztidsidfreak13 Thankyou very much this really did help me out a lot

  • Hey i have a doubt do you think that i can install a 29t on standarts cranks (like the ones you shown on the video)or do i have to change cranks?

    Peace and thanks

  • @Vyny92vsTheWarrior73

yes you can. it will fit just the same. just use spacers if needed

  • why is the video mirrored, and those unsealed bearings keep loosening all the time; the one pc crankset bends all the time and breaks easy. Hope your one pc crankset is from crmo, couse else you are gonna end up buying a 3pc too soon. Or a whole new bmx bike....

  • @REVOLTAR53

ive been riding and working on bikes for over 20 years im sure i know more about them than you do. you cant beat an old school GT! if you do a good job installing nothing will come lose and if you are over 175 and plan on doing hard riding you should use a 3peace crank, but just for normal riding it will be just fine

  • awesome job - Just what I was looking for!!

  • cud u use eny Bottom bracket Kit n will it still work?

  • @NsZsnIpeZz

no, it depends on your crank

  • Great video! Is that a Mach 1? If so, I just picked one up just like it for $20. It's just the F/F, Dyno stem, and a stamped GT seat post. What year is yours? Mine is a '93. Serial number says 0393XXXX M I. Keep up the good work!

  • @4JsloveR No It was the full bike. I got it for $10 at a thrift store around 5 years ago. I think the years is like 1990 or so. It has no sn. It also has one of the hardest chainwheels to find with that sticker set. The original neck broke. I got the crank and bearings for around $20. It is still in peaces waiting to be finished. :(

  • why the fuck would you get a icp tattoo you fucking idiot omg icp sucks so hard

  • @OpakeArawra2

You are a moron, im sure you like m&m, that fake ass Dr. Dre dick sucker!

You are nothing but a loser ass fag troll who has never and will never touch a woman! You have a small dick and you smell bad! I doubt you even know how to ride a bike so I don't know why you even watched my video. How about stop being a troll bitch and get a life you fucking loser FAG!

  • Could you please do a fork and stem and all that stuff instillation?

  • I have standard bb / loose can I up grade 2 better ones

  • @dinosaurheadbreak

you will need to upgrade to a 3 piece for that

  • Thanks so much man! I'm building a '78 Mongoose, and installed the cranks today no sweat with your video! Just what I needed!

  • just wanted to say this vid is amazing helped me out a ton i wantd to kno if i broke the ball bearings somehow if all i need is new bearings or totaly new "crank-sproket"

  • Thankyou Great Help!!!!!!!!

  • juggalo, whoop whoop

  • Great video, although you have clockwise and counter clockwise mixed up.

  • @sirbrad4

I just didnt remember cuz i was on cam and trying to think what way people would see. but the instructions are right on and well done i think. not going to find step by step video like this just anywhere

  • @twiztidsidfreak13 Yeah you probably thought it would be a mirror view instead of an actual view.

  • once again, thank you. i installed my first crank,(came in to reference your video several times) it was a success.

  • @bishopaz

    Glad it could help

  • thank you.very informative. btw,is it the same procedure for a single speed cruiser?

  • @bishopaz

    Yes it should be.

  • wow that sprocket is GINORMOUS!!!

  • @starzskater33

Its a 44, thats normal for racing bikes

  • good vid....but 3 pc cranks are a mans best friend...haha

  • @trainwreckzee

thats true but that wasnt the point of this video

  • Good video. Thanks alot. does it make any diference what grease I use. I only have blue grease. also does the race only have to be finger tight.

  • come on people 137 views 2 comments! someone say something! let me know what you want to see. ask anything about bikes! i got a new camera so my videos will be better

  • how much can you buy one piece cranks for

  • i got a good deal on that one, but they normally run around $10 or so. I paid less then that for the crank and the bb

  • plz comment and let me know what you think and let me know how i could change up and make my videos better

  • I know I say "next step" alot its my first video. Ill get better.
