  • Why is she singing it in slo mo?

  • This song makes me shiver, down to my soul. :S

I can not imagine what's on her mind when she sings this song, it just gives us a little bit of the agony and suffering that she went through. That proves that she's a awsome singer. GO TORI! :')

  • I've always been a fan of the truth that lies within this song. It just shows what one can do, with pure talent, truth and raw emotion. I love Tori Amos, not just for this song, but all of her music and her willingness to help others heal through it and from establishing RAINN. I thank Tori for showing us that beauty is still within, even when we don't understand and cannot seem to shake the past -- there still lies a future. A glimpse of hope. Another way to breathe.

    XoXo.

    ~Kyra C.

  • This gave me shivers and brought tears to my eyes, anyone who thinks rape isnt a big deal really doesnt have a soul, I havent experienced anything close to what Tori or anyone else has done but I know its awful and that the fear has to be unimaginable and not just whilst its happening to you but for the rest of your life. Rape is a horrid thing and everyone who thinks its ok is just as bad as the people who do rape people. Thank God for Tori, she has shown the light to many people. ♥

  • women are the spirit feeling and innocence of human beings a woman is never the same after that changing beauty into something vile and evil, of course the woman is still beautiful but she may never believe it again

  • @AntiFaithNY Babe, scroll through the comments. This video has tons of people saying there's nothing wrong with it.

  • Fabuleux! vraiment !

  • I hope she got to see Barbados.

  • @iamaheron so disgusting pig it is. i hope you die a horrible slow painful death

  • @intoTaboo I hope I die while being gang raped. It sounds so hot.

  • @iamaheron you're incredibly stupid

  • @iamaheron u are so lost in so many levels. makes me sad..

  • @maksojakasvaapuissa Is that you in your Youtube avatar? If so, I would gladly rape you too.

  • @iamaheron oh you... u sad troller...emotionally retarded troll...

  • @maksojakasvaapuissa Oh u... u sexy babe...

  • @iamaheron That's disgusting, you better shut up.

  • @tenguntigresindinero It's not disgusting, she's hot, brah.

  • @iamaheron Ok, so she's talking about such a traumatic experience, you can see the pain in her eyes and the only thing you can think of is to fuck her.

Now, it's perfectly clear what kind of person you're.

I wonder where the hell real men are hidden, as you're a herd of animals, in the worse sense of the word.

  • @tenguntigresindinero Call me a pig, because I'm going to pork her.

  • @iamaheron ur disgusting, this is a song about her being raped im pretty sure shed have no interest in having sex with you since you sound like a classless lowlife

  • @iamaheron are you a complete dumbass? or a disgusting pig? you do realize rape is sex with someone against their will- rape is disgusting and vile and so are you for thinking that saying "i'd probably rape her too" is appropriate

  • It's amazing how such a simple performance can be so powerful.

  • Stunning. The reason why I always avoid watching the live version of Me and a Gun because it is so haunting. This one, I can't pass up. Must have been extremely difficult to sing this song for Tori, but she pulls through so well every time. Bravo!

  • She is the voice for those that have no voice. Hear her words, listen to her pain, and remember that our experiences maybe different but not all of us are so brave as to speak out...

  • i totally relate to this song.. tori is an awesome artist.. my inpirastion to my singing

  • i would say somethin but i cant see through the flooding of tears...

  • I thought "but he doesn't look like a rapist".

  • @dagnyjetties right... they never do... most are people we know. bout 80% of reported rapes... much love to you.... you're not alone...

  • If people are posting pro rape messages (don't have the heart to read) then ignore them. They won't change their mind and we need to stop feeding the trolls. We have bigger fights to fight. I feel all of your pain, I can't even get past the lines' button down his pants" without getting hysterical. Ignore the jerks. Also for those who need it, Pandora's aquarium (sexual assault web site) helped a lot.

  • Violence needs to be vanquished or vanished or banished to another realm on so many levels and that's so necessary for us all, the world. I object every sort of violence, no matter how little it is.

  • 5:12 fucking scary, heartbreaking and terrify...gave chills durnig the whole song

  • she seems deeply sad, she just hold emotion back only ,dont let herself collapsed

  • I was 5 and he took something away i could not understand what was, so i forgot. I was 13 and they took something that had already been taken, i kept it to myself... It hurt my soul... i am now 17 and it still hurts...i hide what happened twice in a dark place..when i listen to this song i take it out and weep for the girl i once was..

  • @Naomi2124 I understand your pain... I was about 7, i didnt understand what they were doing, i remembered earlier this year. Im 16 now... :'/

  • I have experienced this and understand this in all ways you are a lioness. I admire your strength in this situation. I know this mirror it is one to be broken and smashed, rape on all levels is beyond evil a cancer of existence all life must be respected.Peace always sweet soul Tori.~A

  • Me and a Gun (Live At Montreux 1992) HD

    /watch?v=wWxZW2zj7PQ

  • You know, I think that every bastard who says there's nothing wrong with rape should be lined up, raped by a huge convict they have no chance of fighting off, and then be shot in each one of their limbs. After that, they should be dragged over pointy rocks that dig just right into their bullet wounds off to a big x spray painted on the ground. That's where we drop the two ton block that crushes their hips only. Then we walk away and let them die. If it takes more than an hour, we bury early.

  • @vampires18 I agree however I think that their asshole tearing apart would be sufficient enough ( but then again some fuckers like that sort of thing ) and if for some reason its not then your panacea should work just fine.

  • @vampires18

Damm girl, say what you really mean!

  • @vampires18 Yeah, because fighting violence with more violence is COMPLETELY the message Tori wants to get across to people. She wrote Me and a Gun to get people to go out and fight and kill each other, that's totally the right attitude to have. Grow up. You're a sick fuck.

  • If you have survived sexual abuse, rape, etc.... (I have & it took til my mid 20s to allow myself to say so) you never quite know "normal", whatever the hell THAT is. All the wishing & therapy in the world cannot give back what was taken. You can Live and Love and be Happy again, but there is always this thought..."how do other people feel at 25, 30, 40, 50...who've not had this violation?" You are slightly set apart. This can also turn a mere survivor into someone who can withstand ANYTHING

  • @madeleinedouglas Normal is waking up and having breakfast and a cup of coffee ( for example, not that everyone can have that luxury however for the sake of argument....) and if you've read Piece by Piece you might of learned that the very possible therapy for such a horrifying incident Ayahuasca should provide more then a piece of mind. That's my personal opinion.

  • This is one of the most emotionally raw songs ever.

  • @SolorXTwilight

Look a sexist twilight fanboy, quite the nerve you have to say that you damn fag.

  • @SolorXTwilight

I'm in a damn good mood today, so your comment barely made me giggle. And my "vocab" doesn't need to be increased by someone who uses the words "fugly" or "rabid niggers" in a sentence. And if you think you amuse people by making fun of a person who has been raped, you're more of a dumb fuck than I thought, but don't worry my friend, I bet you will find someone just as moronic as you who finds this just as entertaining, dumb fucks deserve to be happy too =)!

  • @OkitaAoyagi damn good mood you say?

    aw, why?

you finally get laid after being a foreveralone fag for the past 37 years of your life.

    well, good for you.

  • @SolorXTwilight

Aw poor dumb fuck has run out of imagination ~ Keep saying whatever you want to make yourself feel better about your own stupidity. I'm sure your wide "vocab" can do better than that!

  • @OkitaAoyagi shhhh shhhh

it's okay, i can hear the silent tears your fatass is crying. :)

  • @SolorXTwilight

Feeling better? No? Well I figured as much.

  • @SolorXTwilight fuck you.

  • @SolorXTwilight Fuck You.

  • @GinKoyama rofl

  • @GinKoyama HHAHAHAHAHA fuck you.

  • @Enoeno u mad?

  • @GinKoyama go to h$ll you b@st@rd!!!! raper!

  • @bridget2695 Nice use of censorship. Now allow me to retort; go and stick a cactus up your snaggled cunt.

  • @GinKoyama LOL HI FIVE, fucking cracked me up

  • @hyperluminous So many people don't understand sarcasm. Then again, it's hard to convey sarcasm through text.

  • @hyperluminous shut up you sick heffer

  • i cried a year ago and now i have to cry again...

    this woman is amazing.

  • I can hardly breath, really..

  • i love the way that not a single person in that audience made one sound. thats how amazing this song is. no matter if youve been through it or not this song goes straight to your heart. its one of those songs that you dont realize it but your in a total trance while listening to it. nothing else matters but the words shes saying and the weight they carry. shes is such an amazing artist i love her to death!

  • I can't even listen to this song... I get like three seconds in to it and its so haunting and I'm on the verge of tears.... This song is soooo inspiring though!

  • im unable to watch this without crying

  • of course no one deserves to be raped. No magtter the circumstances ? Your comment is very odd!

  • @solarya if the comment seems odd to you then congrats. believe it or not ,there are some people who do not know/ or believe this and would rather blame the victim.

  • @ctswright I am not sure that I understand your comment. Were you saying it is a good comment or bad. I take it good.

  • @solarya what i mean is, im glad that you think it is an odd comment; that means that you feel rape is inexcusable, because it is. my point and i think the point that the author of the original comment is trying to make, is that not everybody feels this way about sexual assault. believe it or not there are some who think it is the victims fault. so yes it is a good comment, cause its the truth, its just unfortunate that not all people feel this way...

  • @ctswright thank you

  • This song got me through the healing process and again so when I recently had to revisit my past to move forward, she is amazing I only can pray I have her strength

  • thank you Aereoflash! I think this performance of this song is the most touching and bonebreaking I cannot take it out of my toughts...

  • i agree ,no one ever deserves to have this done to them, they should be shot....

  • Tori Amos just punched me in the soul.

  • Omg, I've heard this song dozens of times on iTunes, even used it as inspiration for a story I wrote, but this live version is raw and just so moving. To be able to not only talk, but write a song and then sing it in concert takes courage and strength.

  • Chilling.

  • saw tori do this on her unplugged tour .she is such a star<3.Very few artist will take to the stage with just a microphone.

  • You will get there Riley - you have to allow yourself time to heal though. I hope you have someone you trust that you can talk to and that can be there for you through this difficult time. Big hugs.

  • This woman is a hero.

I just wish I knew a way to turn my experience into something this meaningful...but I can still barely wake up in the morning...

  • Comment removed

  • WOW - I've heard this song loads of times but it still runs a shiver down my back.. And how many people are in that arena totally focused on her as she sings with so much emotion - trule amazing. And I hope all those rapists out there get what they truly deserve - such a needless crime.

  • after seeing tori live at least 6 or 7 times...there is NO better live performer.

you can always hear a pin drop in the audience when she plays this.

could she be any more beautiful or talented?

  • So I must get out of this

  • @Midnight08 Thank you. You too. With all of Tori's outstanding musical contributions over the years, I still say her most monumental achievement is the creation of RAINN (Rape and Incest National Network).

  • please tell me, this live performance is also in a dvd and if yes then which?

  • @gagidis This performance has not been released on any official DVD but you can find it on VHS called "Tori Amos live from NY".

  • @CountingLetters thank you very very much!!!! and one more question what is the weather in Filand these days ; )

  • As heartbreaking and excruciating at it was when it came out nearly two decades ago. If I had only one wish for the world, it would be that NO woman ever be raped and/or abused from now till the end of time.

  • @lezfriend Firstly, I'm not disagreeing, but I'd like to change that wish... I wish we could stop sexual abuse in general for even both genders and ages.

  • @bizmyth You are absolutely right. I should have said both sexes, but I was thinking about Tori and the fact that statistically women are the major victims of such assaults. People should also remember that rape has nothing to do with sex. It is an unspeakable crime rooted in violence, power, and control. It is an assault on the human spirit and soul. Its perpetrators should be judged the same way as murderers.

  • @lezfriend Men are major victims of other mens sexual violence too- think prison rape and the fact that men are not as likely to report it out of shame. But yes it's all about power and control either way.

  • @lezfriend i agree:(

  • @lezfriend and its okay for men to get raped? gtfo, i hope you get raped

  • @JessikahAznBabyy That is not what I saId at all. You are one sick individual to wish that on anyone. Do not bother replying because I am ignoring you from this point on.

  • @lezfriend oh okay. lets just say if i had only one wish for the world, it would be that NO white person should ever die of starvation. is that fair and just? get over yourself

  • i was raped for years an so was my sister, but I just spoke up! do not be a victim, be a survivor!

  • Nobody EVER deserved to be raped. No matter the circumstances. Anyone that says so doesn't understand how traumatizing rape is for the victim. It is a terrible thing.

  • @Olivia461 For people that have heart its fucking obvious that rape is fucking traumatizing, what else would it be? Fun?

  • @Olivia461 tori does :)

  • @Olivia461 <3.

  • @Puffyclunge um yes you can blame him

  • @gerwin0 How does any one deserve it?

  • @JewishVegan How the f--k do you know? How does it feel to be a made up person? Try real hard, and maybe, someday, you'll be a real person.

    Idiot.

  • beautiful and BRAVE woman... thats all.

  • @thecityexists

Ya know, I bet you are lying about being a victim to get attention. Do I really believe that, no but I am following in the same vein as you are.

I suggest you google tori amos rape. scroll down to the link saying Tori Amos And The Question of Rape from thedent website. You need to do some reading.

  • @thecityexists

So you know Tori Amos personally do ya. So because YOU were a victim means YOU speak for all victims? I find your comment more insulting. People deal with their tragedies in their own way. Unless you can outright say with 100% proof and evidence that Tori Amos was never raped that you can get that confession from her and have it taped so we all can hear well guess what her rape stands. Why are we supposed to believe you.

  • @ozshark

Thank you ozshark you hit the nail on the head

  • @thecityexists

She is exploiting rape to boost her integrity? Seriously? LOL Really sad thinking on your part And you know it to be true? yeah BS you know it to be true of her. You know her personally do ya.

  • @ozshark

I thing another person agrees with me

  • @neakblue

Plain to see thecityexists is full of it. Doesn't even know Tori Amos from Adam Ant, was probably not even alive with the rape happened so cannot produce any evidence to dispute the claims. Looks like city is the one seeking attention.

  • Sexual assault is extremely serious, and this a deeply emotional & serious song.

Tori writes about serious things that happen in her life and she performs them, she does not censor, and we fans love it because we can relate. Tori doesn't perform this song to be an attention whore... she performs it to touch people emotionally. If you'd ever seen the woman speak on her music, you would agree. You really seem to know nothing of her and her charity work in helping the sexually abused.

  • @thecityexists Sorry to everyone I did not want to do this here but this person has messages blocked and no disrespect to Tori Amos

How am I a stupid-ass, for what missing a letter in proof or for asking for proof to back up to what you are saying I can give you all the proof i have to say that she was. Ok in one of your replys you said that you are a sexual assault victim what if I say that you are lying and I say that I have proof and cant show it to you

    this is the same point

  • @neakblue - you are totally right, and thecityexists is wrong. There is, of course, nothing wrong with asking for proof! He's only mad at you for asking for proof, because he obviously doesn't have any.

Plus, I'm sure she is not (as he put it) "full of shit". Doesn't he know the story about how it happened? She didn't tell anyone for years, like many victims, myself included. A scene in Thelma and Louise triggered it, and she cried in public. That is obviously the truth.

  • @thecityexists I have all the stuff I found the interviews everything says that she was sexual assaulted I have not found one thing that proves otherwhise if you have poof show it

  • Comment removed

  • @thecityexists reading more about you in your comments, how would you feel if everyone said you were making that up and lying. You're using a double edged sword. This song isn't the poster song for rape victims. It's Tori's personal way of dealing with it, she's a singer/artist. A cathartic way of healing which makes sense to me and many others. Perhaps jealuosy is driving your slanderous comments (you have no proof). Perhaps you should focus on your own situation instead of trolling Tori fans.

  • @thecityexists what's with the name calling??I respectfully disagree with your statements, but I will not stoop down to your level and insult you.I truly am sorry for what you've been trough, but so have many other men and women here (me excluding) and they also have the right to feel strongly about this song and this subject matter. If you feel that Tori is a liar that's fine, you have a right to choose weather you believe her or not, but don't trash everyone else who find her songs inspirational.

  • @thecityexists Also, just because the lyricsa are "exploitative" as you so eloquently put it, doesn't mean she's looking for attention. The thing you're forgetting is that Amos actually wrote this some time after her "supposed" rape, which means that she could've overcome her sense of shame during that time and decided to process it. Stop being such a jerk. I could classify your behavious as attention-seeking, but I don't really believe in simple explanations like that.

  • @thatSaori looks like I'm a quote maniac ;) but I must quote your absolutely amazing rebuttal (hope you don't mind).

(quote)"I cannot know if she's lying or not but I believe in her eyes however cliché that may sound."(end quote). And (quote)"The thing you're forgetting is that Amos actually wrote this some time after her "supposed" rape, which means that she could've overcome her sense of shame during that time and decided to process it."(end quote)

I couldn't have said it better myself. Bravo!

  • @djove18 looks like "thecityexists" is the one looking for attention by making his/her outrageous statement. How pathetic is THAT? I'll answer my own question: Quite pathetic. TROLL!

  • @thecityexists Yeah right. Sorry to break it to you but you can't be certain. First and foremost: you don't know her and have probably never met her. How can you know she's lying? I cannot know if she's lying or not but I believe in her eyes however cliché that may sound. You're probably someone who has been affected by some woman who's falsely accused you of being a rapist or someone in your life who you never thought could rape someone. Or you're just a bastard who enjoys pissing people off.

  • wow. You have NO IDEA " what is obvious" or not about her circumstance. That is one of the most inconsiderate statements i have ever heard. As a person who works with sexual assault victims-the only thing that is clear is that different people deal with it different ways. To even question her credibility, reiterates one of the reasons why sexual assault victims usually don't come forward-because they think morons, such as yourself, will label them liars!

  • @thecityexists are you f-ing serious?!How do you know that, where you actually there? What's this research you're talking about? All I could find on this blog is an anonymous post saying (quote):"she was abducted by a man and forced to sing at knife-point.Which, even if true, most people wouldn't consider rape",and"she never named anyone or reported anything to the police"(end quote) OMG!!!! Is that all you've got?!Reality check: many rape victims don't report it, does that mean it never happened?!

  • @thecityexists AMEN!!!!!!

  • @thecityexists I believe in the raw expression of her eyes.

  • tHAT WAS BOLD OF HER TO BEAR HER SOUL AND DO IT acapella

  • wow, could have heard a pin drop in that place, what an incredibly haunting and moving performance from a great artist, anyone who isn't moved by this must have a heart of stone.

  • i have the dub step remix of this track tori amos is a true musical legend!!

  • Comment removed

  • "She was raped because she wore provacative clothing".

ABSURD. I like how Tori says that in the lines about the slinky red thing.

It's amazing to hear how, in the ugliness of the moment and thinking that she was going to die, her mind said she needs to stay alive because she's never been to Barbados. I've heard she refuses to go there to this day.

This song is so chilling, emotional, it hits hard. Tori's so brave.

  • this song brings me to tears so much that i find it hard to get to the end, it has hit so close to home that i wish i could tell Tori myself just how much i love her for having made this and how much it has ment to me.

  • Have not heard this song in years. I would always skip this song when I played the album.

  • Damn. :( I've too many friends who've been raped, girls and boys, and I hate to imagine... their feelings. Just damn.

  • It is not necessarily meant for us to assume or decipher how Tori felt...Those are Tori's feelings...hers alone....When she went public with this powerful piece it was done so, I believe, so that we could interpret our own thoughts and feelings into/through her.She is a creator and a vessel for like minded souls to be apart of something phenomenal...Survival is often misinterpreted as courage but this just isn't so.The courage comes from her voice..She is an advocate now and no longer a victim:)

  • very brave of her to share her thoughts she had as she goes through this...

  • Who are the 10 assholes who gave this thumbs down?!

  • look at the emotion in her eyes its captivating

  • Ok I was raped and I don't care what you say the way she sings this Tori understands what I've been through.

Why would u make something like this up like it's a good thing?

  • @cheesecakedeath Im sorry you had to go through that. But be strong =] I admire your courage

  • Beautiful and disturbing at the same time... she used her pent up emotions to create this masterpiece, she is truly inspirational

  • oh my god! I am not able to move right now!! a song without music that speaks straight ahead...

  • this song gives me goosebumps. Its just raw emotion and soul. Its so beautiful and breaking to watch. amazing stuff.

  • Did any one else jump when she said "Flat on my stomach"?

  • If you don't like this, you don't like the real Tori. and seriously, stop listening shallowly... If you were at least attentive, you'd noticed that all her lyrics have no rhyme, she pronounces the words in such a musical way; I've never loved someone's music like I love hers.

  • Looking at her expressions while she sings, I wonder what she things about as she sings. She's very talented.

  • was raped. i understand this song.i wish i didn't.

  • @iclandgirl i as well, by a friend...unfortunately her story in this song is fallacy. maybe it is to show how easily we can believe stories, making it harder for society to hear the truths....

  • @stolieolie 00you need to learn to read between the lines.... myth> no but symbols> yes

  • No one would care about this song if the emotion and stigma wasn't attached. Sorry, I feel for what happened to her, but this song is no good next to some of the other stuff

  • When she sings she stares off as she remembers her experience....she is my hero

  • listen to the shrieking Beatlemania hysteria of the audience. Its so bloody fake.

Sick and tired of hearing these paid shriekers and nutjobs scream on cue like

    retarded little cult members.

  • @Pumpkingilmour Poor baby. Don't listen to this song then. Pretty simple.

  • I understand that this was taped at some man-hating lesbian cult event, so no wonder there are so many shrieking little weirdos there.

  • @Pumpkingilmour Are you for real? Every artist has fans that shriek and carry on like this and you seriously think they are getting paid for it? Get real, go to a concert sometime.

  • @anooseholay I said paid shriekers AND nutjobs screaming on cue . That means that the paid shriekers start things off, and the nutjob lesbians follow suit, on cue, copying the howl like pack dogs conforming to the lead example of the dominant bitch-yowls given preferential seating and trained to scream. It is over done. The hysteria of the crowd actually ruins the performance , because nothing in the world could live up to it, so the song itself is bound to be disappointing and anticliimactic.

  • @anooseholay yes, every industry-backed band using modern marketing techniques has paid shriekers. Its been that way since the fake Beatlemania was crafted and proved that paying people to scream and dance and model the tshirts etc. worked tremendously as a marketing technique.

  • @Pumpkingilmour After spending an hour looking I found one reference to the crafted Beatlemania thing you mentioned and I believe that. However I am just not seeing it here with Tori Amos singing a song about being raped while held at knifepoint. I know the song says, 'gun' but it was a knife.

  • @anooseholay I am seeing it throughout the industry. Influencial people given free tickets to boost the prestige of the band. Attractive busty women give free tickets and free band t-shirts and front row seates so long as they promise to wear the shirts. Then of course the very insiders who profit on screaming at each show to help create the hysteria. Its all a big pack-yowl farce, group psychology, with people on drugs behaving like members of a pack of dogs, like some tribal pack yowl to drums
