  • love this guy! funny and informative, dont see that much these days. Addtional tips would be to use keylight in after effects/shrink the mask and soften the edges so that the black marks around the nose and face would be removed. Also in key light, boost the black in matte so that the window doesnt have the black artifacts. Also some form of light ( i would use fractual) bouncing on his face for added realism. Also some camera shake depending on the background image such as going ova ramps

  • @TheEchoback Thank you.

  • I've been trying to find a way to get this effect on camera, what editing program are you using

  • @stevieraybustamante I use Magix Pro 14. Magix now has newer editing software.

  • put sheets over the windows!!?? oh duh!!! i cant believe i didn't think of that!!! i was going to try to actually put my greenscreen outside by a car!!! XD Thankyou!

  • @shapeworkstudios1 Thanks. It does work well if the weather cooperates. Have fun with yor project.

  • Wow, this is great thanks for the tip, I've been trying to do this effect for a while now; this video really helps. God bless :)

  • @TDMagicOnline You are very welcome.

  • WOW!! excellent tip....with a lot of tweeking this could come across absolutely perfect...Nice!!!

  • Thanks. Yes it could be done very well with a little more lighting inside and outside of the car.

  • were you using green paper or an actual greenscreen cause wahtever it was, it turned out pretty great!

  • Thanks. It is just posterboard with no lighting. I have a similar effect in Carolina in the Morning that looks better.

  • How old are you? Dont want to sound rude.. But holy shit its great to see someone of your age doing this kind of suff... shows that theres no limits.. good work man

  • Thanks. I am 71.

  • @Featureman nice man keep up the good work!

  • @Featureman Ur 71?, im 17 and have actually learned alot from these vids. Keep up the good work man!

  • Thanks.

  • what programmme do u use, i use cyberlink powerdirector 8

  • I use the Magix Pro 14 Plus which does a lot of different things. The main advantage it has over other software in the low cost field is Magix has almost unlimited tracks. each track can be a video or audio or special effect or narration or title. I can do a video in each corner plus several sound tracks and titles at the same time. Thanks.

  • thanks for some good ideas.

  • You are welcome. Thank you.

  • wow man, that is a awesome vid :))

    keep it up :)

could you try and do a vid on how to set up a green screen and use softwhere.

if you do could u just send me a message thanks :))

    keep it up :)

  • Hi. Thanks. I think my very first video was a green screen how to with the basics. Maybe it was my second video. Each software's green screen or blue screen or chroma key works differently. Just think of any green color in your video as being transparent and the other video shows through. I will do more. Thanks again.

  • u got great videos:D keep em up!

  • Thank you. I will keep doing them.

  • There is a very visible perspective problem that could be resolved with polar coordinates backgraound video resizing.

  • That worked rather well!

  • It is a good cheap effect. It needs more light to be better. Thanks.

  • Gezzo your smart :)

  • Thank you.

  • cheers for posting,im making vids now that will come in handy

  • Thanks. It is a very low cost alternative to using a big movie studio.

  • Thanks Featureman,

we need more guys like you to help us with these tricks. At least I have Billy though,

he's the brains of our business.

  • My business needs a young brain. Mine is so full of 1950s info I am in the market for a time machine. The video tricks are fun though. I wish I had these toys when I was a teen ager. Thanks, BigLon.

  • Well done, Tom, that's a clever trick :)

  • Thanks, Matthew. We are having a cold spell here right now so I will wait for Springlike weather to try this in something more advanced.

  • Wow, that is really cool. I want to to some green screen stuff. I have Magix Edit Pro 14 Plus and recently got Band in a Box. I just have to learn you to use them now. OH! I am now a YouTube Partner. I made 15 cents on my first day (today).

  • Both programs do some amazing things. It took me many months to learn what I now know about each software. I often made mistakes that crashed the pc and I never gave up. There is still a lot I must learn. I have not burned any DVD yet. Congrats on the partnership. It will gradually add up. Thanks, Ronnie.

  • Amazing what you can do for so cheap.

  • Yes. I have a feeling it is possible to do almost anything the big studios do if I just experiment a little.

  • That's so awesome. I am seriously amazed right now. I know very few film editing tricks and have minimal skill in film production, however, these videos are relatively easy for even me to understand. Good job.

  • Thanks. It is amazing how much can be done now for just a few bucks. We can all be cheapskate Speilbergs. I bet Hitchcock never had a Oldsmobile and some poster board. He could have done something big if he had.

  • That turned out really well for no light.

  • Thanks. I am surprised it worked at all. I will try it sometime with a story of some sort and I will use some light. If you want to see a great chroma key video watch 405, the Movie, if you get a chance. It is probably here on YouTube just under the name 405. It is three minutes of genius work. Not as good as what we do of course, but still genius.

  • Gee, you make it seem so easy and uncomplicated. I've watched several tutorials on green screen and most of them seem like you need to be careful of this and that but yours is like oh fiddledeedee, just do it -- really great!

  • Thanks. This was done very quickly and easily. It will be better when I next try it on a sunny day, I think.

  • Great it looks like your just driving the car. Yeah wouldn't think that would make a difference but it does cause your using the green screen. I suppose it would be kind of impossible to do the recording at the same time while your driving. Oh yeah couldn't or else it's the car garage repair.

  • It would be very difficult to do a scene with the camera mounted to the car if there is any dialog. They do it in Hollywood but they usually tow the car so the driver does not have to be focused on driving. It also damages the finish on the car to mount the camera. This way you can use a car that does not run if it looks right. Thanks.

  • hahaha, you are very funny, makes me lough bigtime , i v learnt a lot ,why not combine all your tips into a dvd and sale it on e-bay

  • Thanks. I might do a DVD someday. Maybe this year.

  • cool idea, i may try this on the Old Car

  • Good. Let me know when it is finished. I want warmer weather to do this again.

  • 5*****Stars

  • Five thanks.

  • Thanks so much, you make it look so easy

  • Hi. Actually it was just a couple of hours total after I had the idea, including the uploading. Thanks.

  • I use Sony Vegas and I still can't figure most of it out lol

  • There is much about Magix I do not yet know. I usually just find things by accident. I had an early version of Vegas when it was Sonic Foundry before Sony bought it. It was a great video program.

  • Great, Tom!! You always give us nice tips, thank you very much!!

  • Thanks, Rafael. I hope it is warm there. Hugs...

  • Haha great tip man.

  • Thanks.

  • Wow, that worked well enough you could have gotten a ticket for driving without your seat belt on! :)

  • They soon will be giving green screen tickets. Thanks, Liz.

  • Success! Great tip... I need to start making videos soon.

  • Yes. Don't wait, just dive in and have fun. Thanks.

  • you could cut the poster board to size and secure it to the inside of the back window, maybe turn the car inside lights on also.

  • Yes. It needs lots more light from the inside. I also have to be careful not to have the green reflect on interior chrome. With some tweaking it could look good. Thanks.

  • Yeah thats awsome! we are thinking of shooting a music video sometime soon so this may be helpful. b/c were doing it ourselves. thanks for all the tips tho! really appreciated it. Lighting from the back of the car is a great idea!

  • Have fun making the video. The idea can be improved upon. If you watch any sequence like this in a movie, it probably was done more or less like this. They do some actual movie shots with the camera mounted to the car but it usually will require looping the sound later because of the traffic noise. This way you can add just a small amount of background sound and keep the dialog as you want it.

  • this is awesome! i thought you always needed way more lighting for a green screen. but wow this looks decent for almost no light in there

  • Hi. Fast response. Thanks. It does need a lot more lighting to be done right but it was a very dark cloudy day. If you notice when I move my head back more light gets to the green screen and some of the shadowy edges disappear. The green poster board should probably be lit from behind and it would look better.
